Jack Black Confirms 20 Year Anniversary Reunion with ‘School of Rock’ Cast

Jack Black has confirmed that there will be a reunion of some sort for the School of Rock cast. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Black shared that he is working on an epic reunion with his cast members from the film for its 20th anniversary.

“All those kids — dig this — they were 10 years old when we made that movie and now they’re all, like, 30,” Black said. “We’re gonna get together and have a 20-year anniversary. We like to jam. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the grownups from ‘School of Rock.’”

What the reunion will exactly look like wasn’t shared, however, Black said that it won’t be a private affair that is lost to posterity. He shared that he will “100 percent” use social media to share both photos and videos of the upcoming reunion.

School of Rock was directed by Richard Linklater and written by Mike White. It starred Black as Dewey Finn, a rocker who doesn’t have a band to rock with after he is cut from his old band. Through a series of events, he ends up putting together a band with students at a prep school where he is a substitute teacher. Jack Black was joined White in the cast along with Sarah Silverman, Joan Cusack, Miranda Cosgrove, and others.

“My best memories are just that group of kids, and how funny and great they were,” Black shared previously with Entertainment Weekly. “It’s definitely the highlight of my career, I can say that. Honestly.”

The movie was enough of a hit that it would lead to a Broadway musical of the same name and also a series on Nickelodeon. The series debuted in 2016 and lasted three seasons with a total of 45 episodes.

At this time, it isn’t known what the reunion will exactly look like. Black did not say it would be a movie, tv special, public performance, or something completely different and/or private. Daps Magic will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
