It is World Princess Week and Disney is celebrating in many different ways. There are magical moments, foods, and more. All of this is wrapped into the Ultimate Princess Celebration! One of the ways princesses are being celebrated is through the theme song for this week. Sung by global superstar and Grammy Award-winning recording artist Brandy, Starting Now is that theme song. It was written by Jason Mater, Jordan Powers, and Darren Criss. It was produced by Grammy Award nominee Oak Felder. This song is part of the celebration that highlights the impact of Disney princesses and the courage and kindness they inspire globally.
Disney has released a music video of Starting Now that has Brandy singing this song at Disneyland in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Brandy has a long legacy with Disney Princesses having portrayed one in Rodger’s & Hammerstein’s Cinderella on The Wonderful World of Disney. This production is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Part of the celebration will have ABC airing a special cast reunion along with showing the film. This will be on ABC and is called Cinderella: The Reunion, A Special Edition of 20/20. It will be aired on August 23, 2022, at 8:00 – 9:00 PM ET. It will stream on Hulu the following day. The original film will air from 9:00 – 10:00 PM ET following the reunion. This can also be streamed on Disney+.
