Work continues to be done on Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana at EPCOT. Today, Walt Disney Imagineering shared some specific details that will found in this new area when it opens to the public. These details show how Imagineering is incorporating various characters from Moana into the rocks and waterways found in the walkthrough.
This is part of a multi-year transformation of EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort. The following was posted by Walt Disney Imagineering on Instagram:
Throughout Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, guests will have the opportunity to discover characters from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Moana” carved into the rocks and waterways of their surroundings. Our Imagineers worked closely with the studio to develop the artistic style of these characters who will naturally take form within the water-filled landscape. We are excited to see guests make their way through this self-guided trail next year and discover how Moana and her friends truly inspired the surroundings of this experience!

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is a walk-through attraction that when it opens at EPCOT, will let guests see and interact with water as it goes on its journey from the sky to the oceans and then back again. It is currently set to open sometime in 2023.
