The Disneyland Resort celebrated the birthday of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse with a cavalcade that included other Disney character friends, the Disneyland Band, Dapper Dans, and Disneyland dancers. The cavalcade also included balloons and a giant birthday take. The birthday moment took place at 12:45 PM when the normal Mickey & Friends Cavalcade took place. At various spots along the parade route, the entire cavalcade stopped to sing “Happy Birthday” to Mickey and Minnie. Between these birthday moments, the Disneyland Band performed some of its marching songs as they made their way from Town Square to it’s a small world.
Both Mickey and Minnie are now 94 years old as of today. The celebration of the day also included photo circles throughout the parks and buttons were handed out as guests were entering each of the parks. Throughout the day, guests could be seen walking around wearing these special birthday buttons. The Disneyland Resort also announced the reopening of Mickey’s Toontown earlier today as well.
Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse both made public appearances in Steamboat Willie on this day in 1928. This animated short was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. The duo quickly became beloved characters and Mickey became an icon for The Walt Disney Company as it continued to grow through the years. Today they are beloved by millions around the globe.
