Martin Short and Shania Twain Join Cast of “Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration”

Martin Short and Shania Twain are some of the new cast members that have been announced for Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration. In this production, Martin Short will be portraying Lumber and Shania Twain will be Mrs. Potts. It was also announced that David Alan Grier will bring Cogsworth to life. Other cast members joining this show are Rizwan Manji as LeFou, Jon Briones as Maurice, and Leo Able Perry as Chip. They will join the previously announced cast members that include H.E.R. as Belle and Josh Groban as the Beast.

Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration will be a two hour production that will be presented by The Wonderful World of Disney. It will be taped in front of a live audience at Disney Studios and then is scheduled to be aired on December 15, 2022 on ABC. The following day it will be available for streaming on Disney+.

Hamish Hamilton, who directed The Little Mermaid Live, is set to direct Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration. Rita Moreno will be serving as the narrator. Jon M. Chu will executive produce.

The arrival of this special comes at Beauty and the Beast celebrates 30 years since it won Best Original Song at the Academy Awards. The original animated classic has led to sequels, theme park stage productions, a Broadway production of the story, and a live-action version that starred Emma Watson as Belle in 2017.
