Shanghai Disneyland has again reopened after an extended closure due to the pandemic flaring up in the area and shutting down most of Shanghai. Shanghai Disneyland itself opened again on June 30, 2022. Other parts of the Shanghai Disney Resort have been slowly reopening in the last few weeks.
“I would like to thank all of our guests and fans for your support and passion for Disney,” said Joe Schott, President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort. “I am also very appreciative of our cast members who worked tirelessly throughout our closure to ensure a safe and magical return for our guests.”
Throughout the day, Disney characters and cast members were greeting guests and welcomed them back to the park.
Shanghai Disneyland reopens amidst a month-long celebration of style and fun that is inspired by the Light is You song from the iconic nighttime spectacular. The song has themes of bravery and confidence and all are encouraged to wear their best eye-catching outfits when visiting Shanghai Disneyland.
Some entertainment has also returned with the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland. This includes Mickey’s Storybook Express, Mickey’s Storybook Adventure, ILLUMINATE! A Nighttime Celebration, and also Color-Fest: A Street Party! for a limited time on Mickey Avenue. Favorite stores and restaurants have also reopened with some favorite and new favorite Disney dishes and merchandise to explore and purchase.
As Shanghai Disneyland reopens, initially most immersive attractions, rides, shows and shopping and dining location will be offered at a limited capacity in line with health and safety protocols for the park.
