The full version of Festival of The Lion King will be returning to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on July 16, 2020. The show has been performed in a modified format since it returned in May of 2021. This meant that the popular tumble monkeys and bird dancers have not been in the show since the reopening.
Both the tumble monkeys and bird dancers bring stunts and aerobatics to the show. With COVID-19 safety protocols, these elements of the show were not included when it returned. The monkeys perform stunts that include flipping, jumping, and other stunts. The bird dancers fly as they perform aerial stunts above the show.
In preparation for the return of the full show, the current A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King will close on July 4, 2022. The Harambe Theatre will be dark from July 5 through July 15.
Festival of The Lion King is a retelling of the story of The Lion King in a Broadway format that includes singing, dancing, puppets, stunts, and aerobics. It is a popular show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that is a fan favorite.
