Obi-Wan Kenobi is getting a new release date. With this new release date also comes an extra episode for its premiere. Ewan McGregor, who stars in the title role, shared the news in a video announcement. The new release date will be Friday, May 27, 2022. On this day, two episodes will actually be released. This will be followed by subsequent episodes being released on Wednesdays. All of the Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes will be found exclusively on Disney+.
This series takes place ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. It was during this film that Obi-Wan faced his greatest defeat, the turning of his Jedi Apprentice Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side. Not only did he lose his apprentice, but he also lost his best friend when this happened and Anakin became Darth Vader.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will also see the return of Hayden Christensen to the role of Darth Vader. Other members of the cast include Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. The series is executive produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold.
