Hong Kong Disneyland Closing Again Due to Pandemic

Hong Kong Disneyland is closing once again due to the effects of the ongoing pandemic. The news comes from a post found on the park’s website. This will be the fourth time that Hong Kong Disneyland closes due to the coronavirus. The first closure was in January of 2020. “As required by the government and health authorities and in line with prevention efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland Park will temporarily close from Jan 7 to 20, 2022.”

Along with the closure of the park, the hotels will remain open but with adjustments as to what is offered. The same will happen with the restaurants and recreation facilities in the hotels. Adjustments will be made as conditions and government regulations dictate.

Currently, the park is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays to allow for cleaning to take place. Because of this, the park will effectively be closed starting on Wednesday night. Hong Kong has a zero-COVID policy. It includes lengthy quarantines for most inbound travelers and strict border controls. Until recently, there hadn’t been a new COVID-19 local case in Hong Kong in two months. This has changed in recent days, however, due to the Omicron variant.

Guests who were planning on visiting Hong Kong Disneyland during the impacted dates are advised to visit on another date, the park said.
