Josh D'Amaro - Lightsaber Training - Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Josh D’Amaro Demonstrates New Lightsaber Training at Destination D23

When guests board the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser next year, one of the experiences they will be able to have is with a lightsaber. They will be able to be trained in the art of using a lightsaber, a weapon that is “not as clumsy or random as a blaster.”

Over the weekend, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro gave a demonstration with a lightsaber. He also showed off some other experiences that guests will get aboard the Halcyon.

Lightsaber Training Description

When this first-of-its-kind vacation experience begins welcoming guests aboard the Halcyon starcruiser on March 1, 2022, they’ll finally know what it’s like to feel the Force and wield a lightsaber as they square off against a training remote, similar to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope. It’s one of the many immersive activities that comprise this two-night adventure where you’ll see, feel and live Star Wars.

Along with lightsaber training, guests will also get trained on the bridge of the Halcyon. Josh D’Amaro also showed this off. Disney Imagineer Sara Thacher taught D’Amaro how to defend the ship with its blaster canons, just in case something should go wrong. Guests will also learn these skills when they board the Halcyon… just in case.

There will be many more experiences to be discovered about the Halcyon next year when guests blast off to a galaxy far, far away for the first time. More details can be found at
