Entertainment continues to gradually make its way back into the Disney Parks. Today the Disney Parks Blog announced that a re-imagined version of Finding Nemo – The Musical is currently in development for Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This new version of the show will be centered on the same characters as the original version.
The new version will include new story elements. However, it will still tell the same story of family, friendship, and kindness that the original story shared. The Disney Live Entertainment team is in the early stages of developing this musical retelling of this underwater Pixar film. It will include many of the favorite songs that have been known and loved by fans since the show first debuted in 2007.
At this point, there isn’t a specific opening date for this show. Disney has just shared that it will be arriving at Disney’s Animal Kingdom sometime in 2022.
The original Finding Nemo – The Musical debuted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2007. It told the story of Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo featured added music by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and her husband Robert Lopez. It also utilized puppetry to bring the characters to life.
