The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World to Broadcast on ABC on October 1

As Walt Disney World Resort kicks off its 50th-Anniversary on October 1st for guests visiting the Resort in Florida, there will also be a celebration on ABC. Disney has announced The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World will be broadcast on Friday, October 1st from 8-10 p.m. ET.

The program will be hosted by Disney Legend Whoopi Goldberg and explore the history of Walt Disney World in Florida over the last 50 years and a few years more. The program will include performances with Christina Aguilera and Halle Bailey in front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, accompanied by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. The special will also include interviews with actors, actresses, athletes, Walt Disney World cast members, Disney Imagineers, and also executives past and present. Each of them have had a hand in sharing the magic at The Most Magical Place on Earth.

During the course of this show, viewers will get to see where Walt Disney World got started in the swamplands of Florida. Then it will continue to show how it has grown into the cultural phenomenon that it is today. This will give a look at the past, present, and future of the resort and include never before seen on television footage that shows how Walt Disney World came to life and where it will be going in the future. The special will also look at some of Walt Disney World’s pop-culture moments. This includes sitcoms that filmed in the parks and then the eventual “I’m going to Disney World!” campaign. Viewers will also get a look at how Disney and Make-A-Wish foundation have worked together for over 40 years making dreams come true.

There are multiple celebrities included in the program. These will include Anthony Anderson, John Stamos, Marsai Martin, Gary Sinise, Melissa Joan Hart and Candace Cameron Bure; NFL athletes Tom Brady, Phil Simms and Doug Williams, and creative forces Kevin Feige, Pete Docter and James Cameron; Walt Disney World Imagineers including Bob Weis, Mark Kohl and Ann Morrow Johnson; and Disney executives past and present including Bob Chapek, Bob Iger and Michael Eisner. All of them will be sharing their favorite memories of Walt Disney World Resort.

The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World will be broadcast on October 1st from 8-10 PM on ABC. The following day it will be available on Hulu. Later in the month, it will arrive on Disney+.
