Disney has released a video looking behind the scenes at the recording of The Magic is Calling You, the anthem for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. As a part of The World’s Most Magical Celebration, The Magic is Calling You will be heard throughout Walt Disney World Resort in many different settings.
Platinum-selling songwriter and music producer Alana Da Fonseca was brought in by Disney to create this piece. She collaborated with award-winning composer Emily Bear and also the singing phenom Journi. The result is a song that is “nostalgic, inspirational and contemporary,” the Disney Parks Blog shared this morning.
“It’s such a tremendous honor to write something that celebrates a place that brings so much joy to so many people,” said Da Fonseca. “There’s magic all around us, and when you’re there, you are feeling it at every turn.”
The Magic is Calling You will be heard in all the parks at Walt Disney World Resort. It will help connect the celebration as it is heard with different arrangements in different settings. Each night it will be heard as the park icons transform into a Beacon of Magic. In each park, there will be a different arrangement of the song that is appropriate for the location and icon. The result will be that guests get to see Cinderella Castle, Spaceship Earth, Hollywood Tower Hotel and the Tree of Life come to life with an EARidescent glow as they hear the song on select nights.
Disney released some new concept art of what this experience will look like. The artwork shows how the park icons will come to life and hints at some of the effects that could be utilized.
The park icons transformation into Beacon of Magic will not be the only place this song will be heard throughout Walt Disney World Resort, however. The Magic is Calling will also be heard in some special entertainment moments as well. This includes Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade at Magic Kingdom. This will feature the “EARidescent 8” as they make their way through the park on the parade route. The Dapper Dans will also include this song in the repertoire, as will the Main Street Philharmonic. Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Discovery Island Drummers will be performing the tune. EPCOT will have The Magic is Calling You being sung by the Voices of Liberty.
The Magic is Calling You is just one part of the magical offerings that are coming to Walt Disney World Resort to celebrate its 50th Anniversary starting on October 1st.
