The 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort is now officially underway. This morning, thousands of fans descended on Magic Kingdom as the celebration officially began. For some, it was about rushing to Emporium or other stores for the merchandise. For others, it was about the food. Others were simply happy to be on hand for this historic day and to experience the magic that Walt Disney World Resort has to offer during this very special time.
People arrived before dawn in anticipation of the day. Soon, Main Street and some stores opened as guests rushed to pick up Disney merchandise. Others rushed for the castle to be there the moment the park opened. They were not disappointed. Mickey and Minnie in their new EARidescent outfits appeared on their cavalcade float to greet the early morning guests before park opening.
The day officially began with Mickey Mouse and the gang coming out for a celebratory moment that featured the anthem for the 50th anniversary, The Magic is Calling. This moment culminated with daytime fireworks coming from Cinderella Castle.
