The skies above World Showcase Lagoon came to life on the evening of July 1, 2021 as the fireworks spectacular EPCOT Forever returned to Walt Disney World Resort. This show highlights the “themes of innovation, exploration, imagination and celebration at the core of the park’s past, present and future.” Disney guests braved the rain for the magical return of this show that will run until Harmonious debuts on October 1st as part of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary celebration.
The show celebrates the 37 year history of EPCOT and is divided into sections that musically tell the story of the park. The show has the following segments:
- Opening
- Innovation
- Exploration
- Imagination
- Celebration
- Finale
Along with many magical tunes from EPCOT and Disney, Walt Disney’s voice is heard as he talks about EPCOT.
EPCOT Forever first debuted on October 1, 2019, the day after Illuminations: Reflections of Earth finished its multi-decade run at EPCOT. The show includes fireworks, music, lighting, and lasers. When it opened, there were also special effects kites racing around World Showcase Lagoon as well. These did not return with the show this summer, however.
