Tokyo Disney Resort Reduces Hours and Suspends Fireworks

Tokyo Disney Resort is reducing its hours and suspending the presentation of fireworks starting on January 8th due to a spike of COVID-19 cases in Japan. An update on the Tokyo Disney Website shared the following:

Park Operating Hours:

Before Change: From 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
After Change: From 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Effective:  From January 8 to 31, 2021

Suspended:

Disney Light the Night (fireworks)
– From January 8, 2021

It currently appears that Tokyo Disney Resort is expecting to return to later operating hours in February but Disney Light the Night fireworks do not have a return date at this time. These fireworks had returned in September as Tokyo Disney Resort had continued with its phased reopening after being closed due to the pandemic. The fireworks show is about five minutes long and can be seen from Tokyo Disneyland and also Tokyo Disney Resort.

With the suspension of these fireworks, Shanghai Disneyland is now the only Disney theme park globally to be offering fireworks on a nightly basis right now. Currently, Shanghai Disneyland, the Walt Disney World Resort, and Tokyo Disney Resort are the only Disney resorts with parks open. The Disneyland Resort in California, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris are all currently closed due to coronavirus.
