The new Fraggle Rock reboot has begun filming in Alberta, Canada. The original version of the was filmed in Toronto. The reboot is being filmed in Calgary in Alberta, Canada. The Jim Henson Company’s Chris Lytton said that Calgary was now “the obvious choice” due to the province of Alberta’s attractive rebate program for production. Mayor Naheed Nenshi has said that Calgary has a “reputation as a world leader in the art of puppetry.”
This return of Fraggle Rock will include two original cast members: Dave Goelz and Karen Prell. Dave Goelz will return as Boober Fraggle and Uncle Traveling Matt. Karen Prell will bring Red Fraggle to life once again. They will be joined by Muppet veteran John Tartaglia who will be taking over the role of Gobo Fraggle. Gobo was originally performed by the late great Jerry Nelson. All three performers will be co-executive producers.
The Fraggle Rock reboot is coming to Apple TV+. Apple TV+ already has exclusive streaming rights to the original series. Apple TV+ has already brought Fraggle Rock: Rock On! to streamers. This show was shot on smartphones due to the pandemic.
Fans of The Muppets have a lot to celebrate right now. Last summer Disney+ debuted Muppets Now! and next month will begin streaming all five seasons of The Muppet Show. The return of Fraggle Rock will take fans back to an underground world where Fraggles live in harmony with tiny Doozers and giant Gorgs. Of course, this is all done with a healthy dose of life lessons, songs, and explorations of “outer space” where the humans live above ground.
