Earlier this month, Disney announced that work was continuing on Avengers Campus! While Avengers Campus was originally set to open on July 18, it seems that the installation of the quinjet has comforted fans that were concerned about a delayed opening when Disneyland welcomes guests again. This week, Disneyland has posted an audition call for stunt performers, which could mean that an opening is closer than we think!
At this time, there are only two auditions posted on disneyauditions.com. Both are for Avengers Campus! The first audition listing is for stunt performers to portray Black Panther and Captain America. If you wish to audition for Black Panther, they are seeking actors that are between 5’10” and 6’2” and have proficiencies in hand to hand combat, acrobatics, tumbling, bo staff handling, and wall climbing. If you’re looking to audition for Captain America, the listing notes that actors should be between 5’11” and 6’3” and have proficiencies in hand to hand combat as well as acrobatics, tumbling, and sword/shield combat.
The second listing seems to be for the same experience at Disney California Adventure Park. The listing is seeking out strong actors to portray General Okoye of the Dora Milaje. Though this seems to be for the same show, stunt performing is not a requirement for this role. The audition call notes that they are looking for actresses between 5’4” and 6’0” with an athletic build and a strong presence. The casting notice also notes that this Okoye performs with a shaved head.
In both listings, they note that you must be willing to join the AGVA union or be a current member in good standing. Both auditions are online submissions and must be submitted to Disney by September 6. If you are interested in any of the roles, be sure to check out this website here!
Personally, I can’t wait to see the show that comes from these audition notices! I think that the Disneyland Resort has been missing a stunt show since Jedi Academy closed in 2018. This show will fit in perfectly with the vibe at Avengers Campus and I would be interested to see if it also includes an interactive element for young superhero recruits. Only time will tell but I can’t wait to see this show come to life!
