Happy May the 4th to all you Star Wars fans! Though the day is just beginning, we have already seen some exciting news to start the day! Just now, starwars.com announced that there would be a new Star Wars feature film coming to theaters. For this project, Taika Waititi is set to direct and co-write the screenplay alongside Academy Award® nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns.
Though there is no release date set for this film yet, we are incredibly excited! Waititi has been behind some incredible projects like Thor: Ragnarok and the first episode of the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian! Notably, Waititi won an Academy Award® for Best Adapted Screenplay for his film Jojo Rabbit. Krysty Wilson-Cairns also had quite the award season as she received a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year on the three-time Oscar-winning film, 1917.
This is just one piece of some incredible Star Wars content that is coming! We already know that there has been a Cassian Andor series ordered for the Disney+ streaming service. Earlier this week, we also found out that there would be a female-centric Star Wars series coming to Disney+ with Emmy®-nominated writer Leslye Headland. No matter what you are interested in, Star Wars has something coming for you!
