Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be arriving on Disney+ on May the 4th. Disney made the announcement today that the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga will be coming exclusively to its streaming service months early. This is the final movie of nine in the Skywalker Saga that began with Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977.
With the arrival of this Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Disney+ will have even more Star Wars to celebrate May the 4th with. This includes the Skywalker Saga, season one of The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story! May the 4th will also be the day that the new docuseries Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is released!
Along with the arrival of the new Star Wars offerings on May the 4th, Disney+ will also be getting a week-long Star Wars concept art takeover. During this time the artwork for each Star Wars film and program will be updated starting May 4th. These updates will feature original concept art. This will include the incredible art of Ralph McQuarie and also Doug Chiang. The Star Wars brand title will also be getting an upgraded animation that nods to the hyperspace jump.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams. It is directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Michelle Rejwan. Callum Greene, Tommy Gormley, and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Chris Terrio & J.J. Abrams and the story is by Derek Connolly & Colin Trevorrow and J.J. Abrams & Chris Terrio, based on the iconic characters originally created by George Lucas.
