For some time it has been known that there is a fifth Indiana Jones movie in the works. However, as release dates have been changed and details have been in short order, the status of the fifth Indy movie has brought up lots of questions. During the red carpet for the BAFTA’s Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy was asked about the film while talking with the BBC.
“We’re working away, getting the script where we want it to be and then we’ll be ready to go,” shared Kennedy. “Harrison Ford will be involved, yeah. It’s not a reboot; it’s a continuation.”
Currently, Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to be released on July 9, 2021. At this point it isn’t known if this date is still accurate. Last year Harrison Ford shared that he expected for production to begin soon and he was “looking forward to it.” David Koepp is writing the screenplay. He also wrote the screenplay for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Koepp shared last year that there was a good idea in place that was their starting point.
At this point the details are still very vague for Indiana Jones 5. It does sound like work continues to be done on the future film.
