Top 5 Disney Stories of 2019: #5 – Walt Disney World’s Skyliner Soars

As we countdown the year’s biggest Disney stories, one of the most anticipated of the year was the opening of the Skyliner at Walt Disney World.  It might not seem so, but these sky buckets were talked about throughout the year as the route took shape throughout the property.  Pylons and towers started marking out where one could see these overhead vessels.  Questions on the conditions inside the cabins began to be brought up.

Then, they appeared on the line and began testing around Spring.  It was coming up fast to when guests could fly in the sky.  With an opening date announced, many flocked to the Resort hoping to be some of the first to ride.

The opening day went off without much in the way of problems.  Many have been amazed at the short amount of time it takes to load, and especially with long lines the first day.  The trip from resort to resort to park to park also brought amazement for how swift it is to get around the property now.  The Skyliner was an instant hit!  Shortly after opening, there was an unfortunate incident that closed it for a few days.  But, with it back on track again it has changed how guests get around Walt Disney World.

This is the first new transportation system for the Walt Disney World Resort in quite some time.  It has brought an easier way to manage vacations since it speeds guests along a fun highway in the sky.  This is a revolution for the Florida property and who knows what it holds for the future.  With the anticipation in the year and the opening providing great guest experience this is certainly a big story for the year.

Here’s some of the coverage of it this last year:
