Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is less than a week away from opening at the Walt Disney World Resort. This week, however, five families were given the opportunity to experience it. The families were the Volunteer Family of the Year found by The Walt Disney Company and Points of Light through Good Morning America. The Aguirre family was given this distinction.
The Aguirre family was joined by the four runners up families for a VIP trip to the Walt Disney World Resort. Throughout the course of this trip, they experienced multiple magical moments. One of these was getting to be able to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance before it opens on December 5! The video of their experience on the attraction reveals a few more details about it.
On top of experiencing Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the families served as Grand Marshals for the Festival of Fantasy parade at the Magic Kingdom and were the guests of honor at a Family Volunteer Day event held at Disney Springs. At this event, the Aguirres were presented the Daily Point of Light Award for all of their efforts to help others.
If you would like to learn more about how to get involved with volunteering, visit Points of Light for more information. There are projects there that can be joined or information on how to create a project. Eligible nonprofits and schools in the U.S. can also join the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program. This can lead to the earning of Disney Parks tickets by hosting family volunteer events.
