Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Developing Star Wars Film

It should come as no surprise by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is developing a Star Wars film. Feige is known as a Star Wars fan and apparently approached Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Disney studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman with an idea for a film over the summer. The idea must have been a good one because the Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Lucasfilm is moving on it.

Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn confirmed the news saying, “We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”

Kathleen Kennedy is currently working on the next wave of Star Wars projects as the conclusion of the original Star Wars Skywalker Saga is drawing to a conclusion. The final film in the 9 film series will be arriving in theaters this December. Kennedy has been leading Lucasfilm since 2012. In 2018 she renewed her contract for three more years.

Kevin Feige is a known Star Wars fan that some have speculated could have a future at Lucasfilm. He has a solid track record of successful films at Marvel Studios and has a vision for this Star Wars movie, including an actor. A top Disney source told the Hollywood Reporter that there are no leadership changes planned for Lucasfilm.

So far, there aren’t really any details known about future Star Wars films following Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It is known that there are films in the works from Rian Johnson and also the Game of Thrones showrunners  D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. On the Disney+ front there is also The Mandalorian arriving later this year and then in the future a Rogue One prequel series. There is also an Obi-Wan Kenobi series in the works.
