Interactive Universe

How You Can Turn Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort into An Interactive Universe

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland, it will be unlike anything we have ever seen among our Magic Kingdom. Of course, we know it will be a highly immersive land that will follow our actions. Did you crash the Millennium Falcon? Well, the bartenders at Oga’s Cantina already know and they may not take to kindly to those actions. Galaxy’s Edge will be an interactive universe that brings you directly into the story!

The mobile games at Star Wars: Galaxy’s edge will come to life through the Play Disney Parks App, which uses Bluetooth technology and GPS location services to tie the games to locations in the Black Spire village. This makes for one-of-a-kind experiences that you can only have within the Star Wars realm.

Looking to get started? The Galaxy’s Edge Data Pad will start you off with one task. Align yourself with the Resistance, the First Order, or with the gang of scoundrels. It is all up to you but it will definitely affect the way you see Black Spire Outpost!

The Games

The first game takes place land-wide and takes the factions to an all-new level. This game taps into the control panels being used by the First Order as a surveillance system. Players aligned with the Resistance rebels will try to disable the surveillance system and the First Order troops will be determined to thwart their efforts. The objective: Hack into the door panels and disable or enable the most devices, depending on the faction you support. The winning team earns a digital reward: Galactic credits.

The game at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run turns the queue into an experience to see a new story. Players turn into smugglers working for a shady intergalactic company. Develop a smuggler’s alias and help space pirate Hondo Ohnaka prep and ship illicit cargo for a journey aboard the Millennium Falcon.

The Rise of the Resistance trackless dark ride will come with a pair of games for players to enjoy. Depending on which faction you have aligned yourself with, you will spend the queue scouting a Resistance invasion or collecting surveillance intel for the First Order. These games are designed to give players an insight into the universe while helping the time fly by!

Galaxy’s Edge Data Pad

Galaxy’s Edge Data Pad mobile games will serve four essential roles around the land: Hack, Scan, Translate and Tune.

The hack tool helps guests traveling the land to interact with the technology around them. Depending on the mission, you could override functions or even get secret plans out of the local tech. The Scan function will reveal what lays just behind barriers. While you wait in the queue, find out what really lays behind the cargo containers!

When you walk around the land, you will see Alien language all over Black Spire Outpost and even hear it around you. Use your Data Pad to translate what you hear! The Tune tool will help you decode secret radio transmissions around the land.

There will be a job board within the app that will pair guests with space pirates that need work done, First Order lieutenants seeking to quell a Resistance uprising or rebel leaders recruiting volunteers to thwart a First Order attack. Need help completing your mission? There will be characters within the games that you can speak to for help.

The best part of these mobile games is that they are designed for every skill level. From novice hobbyist to hardcore gamers, there is something for everyone to play within this app! There are also many ways to challenge yourself and upgrade your avatar with credits. Have a family with only one phone? Users can also create multiple avatars so the whole family can have a chance!
