World of Color has undergone some extensive refurbishments over the last year, and many have questioned when it would make its triumphant return to Disney California Adventure. As many have seen in recent months, imagineers have been feverishly working on getting this show ready for guests. It’s one of our favorite shows and we have missed seeing it during our regular visits.
While Disney has not officially announced its return, according to the Disneyland website, dining and dessert party reservations are available starting Friday, February 22nd. I personally could not find any availability for the 22nd, but I was able to find reservations for both dining and the dessert party for Saturday, February 23rd.
Could this really mean that World of Color comes back in a couple of weeks? We hope that with this information on the Disneyland website, Disney will make a formal announcement soon. We can’t wait to see the show again, and are curious if there will be any major changes to the show, or if it will be the same as before it closed for refurbishment.
History of World of Color
World of Color opened at Disney California Adventure on June 11th, 2010 and became an instant hit with guests. Over the years, it has seen iterations such as the pre-shows to celebrate Lunar New Year, 4th of July, and even a full Holiday version: Winter Dreams. There was also a special version to celebrate Disneyland’s 60th anniversary, World of Color: Celebrate!
It’s the first show of its kind, which brought new life to entertainment at not only the Disneyland Resort, but Disney California Adventure. Prior to World of Color, California Adventure didn’t have any new and exclusive nighttime entertainment in the park. It hosted Disney’s Electrical Parade for its return in 2001, and it ran there until 2010, shortly before World of Color made its debut. World of Color is an inventive show, and we look forward to what is to come for this incredible form of Disney Magic!
