Sunday Spotlight: Space Mountain - Ghost Galaxy

Sunday Spotlight: Space Mountain – Ghost Galaxy

Halloween Time has the Disneyland Resort experiencing lots of transformations throughout both parks. One of these transformations that really is impressive happens in Tomorrowland. Space Mountain – Ghost Galaxy undergoes some pretty spectacular changes for the Halloween season. It may not be as charming or heartwarming as say it’s a small world holiday or Haunted Mansion Holiday, but it is definitely impressive.

For Halloween Time, Space Mountain becomes Space Mountain – Ghost Galaxy. This was first introduced at Hong Kong Disneyland for Space Mountain there in 2007. In 2009, Disneyland’s Space Mountain received the Ghost Galaxy treatment. This followed the less than successful Space Mountain: Nightmare Nebula in October of 2007 in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. For this overlay of the attraction, a ghost has taken over Space Mountain and chases guests as they zoom through the galaxy.

The great part about Space Mountain – Ghost Galaxy is how the experience begins before you even enter the attraction. Projections and sound effects are displayed on the outside of Space Mountain. As the ghost tries to escape from Space Mountain the outside of it shows this story. It really is fun to watch. It’s also fun to watch those who aren’t realizing what is going on!

Space Mountain – Ghost Galaxy is a fun overlay for the Halloween Time season at the Disneyland Resort. It is a bit intense for young ones or those who are a bit more sensitive to the scary ghost thing.
