Plaza de la Familia Celebrates Everlasting Bonds of Family As Disney-Pixar's Coco Comes to the Disneyland Resort

Coco has arrived at the Disneyland Resort. Plaza de la Familia celebrates the everlasting bonds of family in Disney California Adventure. It is centered around the Disney-Pixar film Coco. There are a lot of different things to watch and experience during this celebration. All of it can be found in Paradise Gardens.

A Musical Celebration of CocoA Musical Celebration of Coco

This is a music retelling of the Disney-Pixar’s Coco. It has multiple songs from the movie, including Remember Me (which won an Oscar for “Best Original Song”).

Mateo, the lead storyteller, recounts the journey Miguel made to the Land of the Dead. This year, Mateo and company are joined by Miguel! The whole performance includes Mateo, Miguel, the mariachi performers, and folklórico dancers.

This is a fun show that is simply a joy to watch and shouldn’t be missed.

Plaza de la FamiliaThe World of Coco

The World of Coco is an art exhibit that allows guests to connect with some of their favorite characters and settings from Coco. There are images from the movie, and “ofrenda” inspired by the movie and other displays that showcase the depth and heart surrounding the movie.

Fun Activities

There are things to do for guests of all ages. Guests can take photos in front of the iconic Mexican “Árbol de la Vida,” or Tree of Life. Remembrance notes can be placed on the Memory Wall to honor the many loved ones who have been − and will forever be − part of their lives. Also, there are “alebrije” (spirit guide) masks that can be designed by guests who are feeling creative.

Mexican Food Menu

There is also a Mexican menu at Paradise Garden Grill currently. It includes foods like traditional Día de los Muertos Pan de Muerto, Mole Verde con Pollo, a scrumptious Pan Dulce Conchita and a special “Coco” cake.

Plaza de la Familia began on September 7th and continues through November 4th. More celebrations of Día de los Muertos can also be found in Cars Land in Disney California Adventure and also Frontierland at Disneyland.
