Team DAPs Magic Strolls Through Disneyland for CHOC Walk while Walking For Cohen! – Sundays with DAPs

This last Sunday team DAPs Magic strolled through the Disneyland Resort for the 2017 CHOC Walk. This year, the team was walking for Cohen. This young man has spent a considerable amount of time at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. CHOC has taken such good care of him and team DAPs Magic is thankful for their care of him.

As a team, DAPs Magic reached a new level of fundraising success this year. At the time of this post, DAPs Magic has more than tripled their previous fundraising levels. Throughout this month, fundraising will continue to help the CHOC Walk reach its ultimate goal of $3.1 Million for the kids of Orange County. The walk began at 6:30 AM at Disneyland. Shortly after 6, the walkers were allowed onto Main Street, USA for the opening ceremony. This ceremony included the Disneyland Ambassadors, Disneyland President, CHOC President and CEO, Henry DiCarlo from KTLA, Captain America, and of course the CHOC Walk Ambassador family.

With the explosion of confetti above Main Street, the walk began at around 6:30. This year, the walk went through Frontierland and the new walkway there. It circled through Fantasyland, Tomorrowland before making its way down the parade overflow walkway behind Main Street. Once back on the street, water was handed out before making the cross over to Disney California Adventure. In Disney California Adventure the path went through Buena Vista Street, down Hollywood Blvd, and out through the main entrance of Bug’s Land. Then a quick left back into Cars Land was made that took walkers into the Pacific Wharf and back out onto the parade route near Ghirardelli. Then the teams made their way around Paradise Bay before returning to walk past Grizzly River Run and exiting the park to Downtown Disney near Soarin’. The end of the walk was near Build-a-Bear in Downtown Disney where the Disneyland Ambassadors, DJ Wendy, and Choco Bear congratulated walkers. In Downtown Disney dozens of vendors were on hand with swag, experiences, food, drink, and even 3D photography!

The walk itself included many Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars characters. Lines for them grew quickly as they were all quite popular. Various bands and cheerleaders were also stationed along the walk that added to the fun of the morning. Couple that with walking with 12,000 people all for the same cause and it was a GREAT way to start the day! It also was a wonderful continuation of excitement that has been building with the various CHOC Walk events like Taste of Downtown Disney and DAPs Magic’s ROCK4CHOC.

Team DAPs Magic is already looking ahead to the 2018 CHOC Walk! Make sure and subscribe to DAPs Magic for all future CHOC Walk updates and to be a part of our efforts next year! Together, we can make a bigger difference than any one of us can individually!
