As fans of the Star Wars franchise rejoice over the success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a new release date for the eighth installment has just been issued. In a press announcement on Wednesday, Star Wars: Episode VIII will launch into theaters on December 15, 2017, instead of the planned May 26, 2017.

The eighth film is currently in pre-production and is said to begin its principal photography sometime next month in London. Abrams, Tom Karnowski, and Jason McGatlin executive produce.

Though some of us may be disappointed by the film’s set back, here is some good news. Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will sail into theaters on May 26, 2017. The previous theater release date was set for July 7, 2017. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, cast includes Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Javier Bardem and more. The film is currently said to be in post-production.
