The Lunar New Year Celebration has arrived at the Disneyland Resort. This annual event is taking place from February 19-22, 2015 to celebrate the Year of the Sheep (yes, it could also be the Year of the Goat or Ram as well but for this… it’s the sheep). This daily celebration takes place in Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure each day between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
There are several different things to check out during this celebration. This includes entertainment, activities, exhibits, character meet n’ greets, merchandise, and food.
On the opening day the most popular line was to meet the characters. Shortly after the event began at 11, Cast Members were telling guests that the line was over an hour long. It didn’t appear to shorten as the day progressed. The other activities had lines that were much shorter. This included the brush painting & calligraphy, lamp making, face painting, and food lines. Expect the lines to be longer during the weekend.
Throughout the day there are live performances on both the stage in Paradise Gardens and also right in front of the entrance to the area. The latter is where the bigger performances take place, including the Happy Lunar New Year Procession with Mulan and Mushu. Other live performances, including traditional Lion Dancers from Northern Shaolim Kung Fu Association, could be found in this area throughout the day.
