Re-Opened Disney California Adventure One Year Later

One year ago today the Disneyland Resort re-opened Disney California Adventure to a very eager public. This day opened Buena Vista Street and Carsland to the public for the first time. These were two now “lands” that focused on telling stories.

Buena Vista Street shared the story of the California that Walt Disney came to. It is a land of opportunity, imagination, hope, and dreams. One year later, people are still catching this version of the California spirit of a “suitcase and a dream” as they enter the new Disney California Adventure.

Carsland brings

the world of Disney-Pixar’s CARS to life for guests as they now get to travel down Route 66 and into the world of Radiator Springs. While there they can visit Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Red the Firetruck, DJ, along with the homes of some other Radiator Springs residents.

A year ago today, Disney California Adventure opened with a ceremony in Carthay Circle on Buena Vista Street. Robert Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company re-dedicated Disney California Adventure with a ceremony that really connected Walt Disney’s dreams with the park in a way that hadn’t been done before. After the ceremony, the park’s gates were opened to thousands of guests. Many of these guests had waited all night to be one of the first guests to enter Disney California Adventure.

As guests streamed into Disney California Adventure, most were heading straight for Carsland. Very soon Carsland was packed. The line for Radiator Springs Racers was hours long. A buzz was in the air as everyone entered both Buena Vista Street and  Carsland, realizing they were in a place that was very special.

One year later the magic that was brought to Disney California Adventure is still alive and well. Mickey Mouse delights guests daily with the Red Trolly Newsboys. People delight in racing through Ornament Valley and fastpasses disappear quickly every day for Radiator Springs Racers. The re-opened Disney California Adventure is a huge success. It is once again to Walt Disney’s believe that quality wins out. Tell a great story in a great way and the experience will sell itself. Disney California Adventure is now a wonderful part of the Disney legacy that Walt Disney himself would hopefully enjoy walking through and being transported to the world of imagination.
