Yesterday, the 2013 Disneyland All-American College Band made its debut at the Disneyland Resort. This began 11 weeks of performances (Tuesday-Saturday) throughout Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. This year, there were a few changes for those who have followed the Disneyland All-American College Band through the years. There were some different set times and locations and also some different music.
The first big difference was where the band began its day. This year, the Disneyland All-American College Band has its first set at the Hollywoodland Backlots Stage. This is at 1:50. Yesterday, because of it being the first day and a few first day details coming together… it started a bit late. Another noticeable difference was that there is no longer pre-parade set for the band. Instead, the band will now be performing at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree. This was scheduled to be at 3:25 but signs at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree say 3:30.
The following set is in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at 5:05. Traditionally, this was nearer to the time when they would be participating in the Flag Retreat Ceremony. The Flag Retreat Ceremony is now taking place at 6:00. As usual, the Disneyland All-American College Band is ending it’s day at Main Street Station in Town Square at 7:15.
This year also finds the Disneyland All-American College Band playing some new music in some expected and unexpected places. There is music being played from Monsters Inc/Monsters University. A Whole New World has been added in a not so new medley. There also is some new and old jazz classics being added throughout the day as well.
Here is a look at the set times and locations for the 2013 Disneyland All-American College Band:
- 1:50 PM – Hollywood Backlots Stage
- 3:25 PM – Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree
- 5:05 PM – Sleeping Beauty Castle
- 6:00 PM – Flag Retreat
- 7:15 PM – Main Street Station/Town Square
They will be here for a limited time. Summer with the band always seems to fly by. It is a phenomenal program that is now in its 43rd year. The director, Dr. Ron McCurdy once performed with this program when he was in college. He is continuing on with the legacy of making a positive influence
DAPs Magic will be posting videos of their various performances throughout the summer so stay tuned!
