In this contemporary musical comedy, a high school hoops star and a shy, academically gifted newcomer discover that they share a secret passion for singing. When they sign up together to audition for the lead roles in the school musical, it threatens East High’s rigid social order and sends their peers into an uproar. Everyone madly scrambles to sabotage our heroes and return the school to the same old status quo. But when our kids take a chance on their dreams, against all opposition, they inspire their friends to do the same. High school will never be the same again. “High School Musical” stars Ashley Tisdale of Disney Channel’s original series “The Suite Life of Zach and Cody” and Zac Efron of The WB’s “Summerland.” “High School Musical” premieres on Disney Channel Friday, January 20 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT).
