Welcome to Daps Magic - Disney and positive stuff. This week, Mr. Daps is joined by Mikey Really Likey. Together, they tackle what we are calling The Fives. For these episodes, they will be talking about five specific things regarding a topic. For the first of The Fives, the topic is what's coming in the future from Disney. Surprisingly, or maybe unsurprisingly, Mr. Daps and Mikey both choose things that are in the future from Disney that will be coming to the Disney Parks.
We hope you enjoy this episode and will also join in the discussion! You can do this at DapsMagic.com/DapsHQ, on social media, or anywhere else you can find us! We look forward to continuing the conversation with you.

Welcome to Daps Magic, Disney and
0:14
positive stuff. I'm Mr. Daps and this
0:17
week we're going to do something a
0:19
little bit different. We're calling it
0:20
the fives. And this is something that I
0:22
can't do alone. So, I'm enjoying
0:24
bringing my friend Mikey Really Likey,
0:27
who I've been a friend with for a very
0:28
long time, on to the show. But before we
0:31
do that, a couple of things to keep in
0:33
mind. If you'd like to connect with us
0:35
more and continue conversations you have
0:37
here or anywhere else on Dapsmagic, we'd
0:39
love to have you over on Dapsmagic HQ.
0:42
You can find us there at
0:43
dapsmagic.com/dapshq
0:45
or just hit the big button on the
0:47
homepage. That'd be great. You can also
0:48
find us on Facebook, social media,
0:50
Instagram, you know, all of those
0:52
things. and of course YouTube as well.
0:54
And we'd love to connect you with you at
0:56
any or all of these places. All right,
0:59
we are going to hop into the fives. And
1:01
the way this is going to work is both
1:03
Mikey and I have a list of five things
1:06
about a particular subject which I will
1:08
announce in just a minute with Mikey
1:10
that uh we're going to talk about. So
1:12
let's get to the fives, shall we?
1:18
Well, welcome Mikey. Really likey. I
1:21
can't not call you that because uh
1:22
you've always been that to me. But um
1:26
welcome to Daps Magic as you've been
1:28
here in its previous iterations. I feel
1:30
like every version of a podcast we've
1:32
ever had at Daps Magic you've been a
1:34
part of in one way or the other if is
1:36
that correct?
1:37
>> I think so pretty much. Um well there
1:41
there's a couple um that I was not part
1:43
of but
1:45
majority of them yes I have. I was say
1:47
you should be in every version because
1:49
you're one of my favorite people and
1:50
we've been friends for a very long time
1:52
and I always enjoy when we get to hang
1:54
out in Florida or we get to hang out
1:55
virtually like this and geek out about
1:58
Disney and positive stuff stuff which we
2:01
both love. And today we are kicking off
2:04
the fives which if this works and people
2:07
like it and if we like it perhaps even
2:09
more importantly
2:12
we'll be doing again. But the topic for
2:15
today
2:17
was things we're looking forward to from
2:19
Disney. And it's a very vague topic
2:21
because we don't really know exactly how
2:23
this is going to play out and
2:26
you know like who who knows and we might
2:29
decide this is insane. But uh that's
2:31
totally all right. So I think we should
2:34
get right into it and since you are my
2:37
guest you get to go first.
2:39
>> Okay. Um, well, most of my uh top fives
2:43
are are park related. Um, that's just
2:46
where my mind goes automatically.
2:48
>> So, but um I think uh the first one that
2:52
I put on my list was the um uh promised
2:56
update uh to Carousel of Progress,
3:00
including the uh animatronic Walt
3:02
Disney.
3:04
>> And and why are you excited about all of
3:05
that?
3:06
Well, first of all, the uh Carousel of
3:09
Progress has been needing some uh TLC
3:11
for a long time, a very long time. And
3:15
uh they kind of started showing um the
3:17
interest in there, you know, updating
3:18
the seating in the auditoriums
3:21
um and kind of just cleaning up the
3:23
paint um on the outside.
3:25
>> Did they update like some of the
3:27
sweaters or something in the last
3:29
>> They did they changed some of their
3:31
clothing and uh all that in the final
3:33
scene. Um, the animatronics are still
3:35
very rough, very old. Um, they're barely
3:39
hanging on, but um, but I'm glad that
3:43
it's finally getting the attention it's
3:45
it's needed for decades.
3:48
>> And what do you think about the Walt
3:49
Disney audio animatronic coming in?
3:51
>> That's something I've been wanting to
3:53
have for a long time as well. Even
3:55
before when I heard
3:56
>> heard about this before.
3:57
>> Oh, sure. I think that there should have
3:59
been even if it was just an audio thing
4:02
like instead of like the this is Walt's
4:05
thing that narration there now but I
4:07
think it would have been nice to have
4:09
something Walt introducing it as he
4:11
would have
4:13
>> you know when it first opened.
4:15
>> Um but yeah having the animatronic there
4:17
this this this in this upcoming
4:20
iteration would be absolutely fantastic.
4:23
I completely agree with you and that
4:25
actually didn't make it on my list
4:26
because somehow it slipped my mind but
4:29
uh it has been it's interesting because
4:32
we have the audio animatronic of Walt
4:34
out here for Walt Disney Magical Life in
4:36
the Opera House and so we're already a
4:38
little bit spoiled by getting to see
4:40
Walt whenever we want to walk in. And I
4:43
love how it grounds the park to the
4:45
foundation of Walt and his imagination.
4:49
And then like we've gotten Disneyland
4:50
handcrafted recently as well that's done
4:53
that as well. Uh because I think for a
4:55
while there was a little bit of a
4:58
shiny new object syndrome almost where
5:01
it's like bigger is better. What can we
5:04
do that's going to scare people more or
5:05
thrill them I should say more or uh take
5:08
them to a galaxy far far away. And all
5:10
of these things are really great things
5:12
and showcase the incredible Disney
5:14
storytelling abilities that they have.
5:17
But I think also it's really great that
5:19
the last couple years are like, "Hey,
5:20
let's ground all of this amazing stuff
5:23
in Walt the Man as well and and continue
5:26
on that legacy and that foundation
5:29
because I think it grounds everything
5:31
else they do
5:33
>> and and kind of provides clarity of what
5:36
they should do and how they should do it
5:38
and and I really like I I kind of wish I
5:41
had thought of that one because that's
5:42
that's a great
5:43
>> I wish we knew what it was happening to.
5:46
Don't you?
5:46
>> I know. I they've they've they've talked
5:48
about it a lot, but they never really
5:49
given us any kind of date um of whenever
5:53
it's going to be happening. I'm hoping
5:55
it's maybe the end of the year. But
5:58
yeah, again,
5:59
>> I'm just speculating. I'm just throwing
6:01
it out in the wind.
6:02
>> Well, we do have a D23, what is it? The
6:05
ultimate Disney fan event now coming up
6:07
this summer. So maybe we'll get more
6:09
details then. Like I could totally see
6:11
them being like, "And we're starting it
6:13
tomorrow."
6:14
>> Right.
6:15
Absolutely.
6:16
>> Crazier things have happened. All right.
6:18
Uh I'm going to go for the first one on
6:20
my list.
6:23
>> I'm going to stick close to home also.
6:25
And uh I'm going to go with the
6:27
Adventures Campus expansion, which we
6:30
have been eagerly watching here in
6:32
California on a regular basis. And
6:36
>> this is going to be interesting because
6:37
we're getting two more attractions and
6:38
it's doubling the size of the area. But
6:41
I I think even more so than that, it's
6:45
doubling the stories and like what you
6:47
can experience where you're in Avengers
6:48
campus. And so we'll get Avengers
6:50
Infinity Des defense and we'll get Stark
6:53
Flight Lab. And I think we'll also get
6:57
because of Stark Flight Lab more like
6:59
kinetic energy and so we'll see things
7:01
moving and there's just more space for
7:03
characters to move around. Hopefully
7:05
with that entertainment will come back
7:07
and like I would love if we got the
7:08
Avengers Assemble show back or Doctor
7:11
Strange and his mystic arts coming back.
7:13
Like there's so many things that can be
7:15
done from these extended stories and
7:18
because
7:19
>> the land up until now has been so small.
7:24
>> When they're working on it, you can't
7:25
really do as much from a storytelling
7:28
perspective as you could when it first
7:30
opened. And so I'm really looking
7:32
forward to one, the land getting this
7:35
expansion completed, but two, all of the
7:39
>> side benefits that come from this. So
7:41
like getting the, you know, more
7:44
character shows and getting the extra
7:47
like I'm assuming there'll be more food
7:49
or something probably as well. Like I
7:51
just think it's everything's going to
7:52
win with this once it's finished. And um
7:55
it may be like
7:57
>> I'm going to just do like a periphery
7:59
thing on this too. Um, I think even
8:02
before this happens, there's always a
8:04
possibility too with new movies that we
8:06
get new updates. So, we have a new
8:08
Spider-Man movie coming up later this
8:10
year, and I'm just going to lump this in
8:12
with an the Avengers Campus expansion.
8:15
>> I would be very interested if
8:16
websllingers got like a tweak to its
8:20
gameplay or whatever when you go on it
8:23
that connects or has a nod even to the
8:26
new movie. Like, I think that'd be super
8:28
cool.
8:29
>> Yeah. and uh you know the whole keep
8:31
moving forward thing. Do do you have any
8:35
preference or or opinions on Avengers
8:37
Campus?
8:38
>> Well, here's the thing because last time
8:40
I was in I was in Disneyland, it was
8:43
under construction.
8:44
>> So, yeah. So, I have no uh experience
8:47
with uh that area yet. So, um, you know,
8:51
hopefully sometime soon I'll be able to
8:53
get down there and actually experience
8:55
it and and see it for myself cuz
8:59
Are you a Marvel guy?
9:00
>> Oh, yeah.
9:01
>> Oh, yeah.
9:02
>> Like, who's your favorite hero?
9:04
>> Oh, that's that's tough. I mean, um,
9:07
>> or you can go with favorite movie, too.
9:09
>> Favorite movie? Um, even though it was
9:13
definitely a nostalgia fest, it was uh
9:15
Spider-Man uh No Way Home.
9:18
>> Okay. Yeah. Yeah, no problem.
9:20
>> You know, it's just nostalgic.
9:22
>> Spider-Man movies are so good, though.
9:24
Like, the new ones are killer.
9:26
>> They really are.
9:26
>> Like, I've in general liked most
9:28
Spider-Man movies, but I feel like
9:30
they've now just hit their stride and
9:32
they're they're killing it. Like, I love
9:33
it.
9:34
>> Oh, yeah.
9:35
>> All right. What's your next one?
9:37
>> So, my next one is the uh Tropical
9:41
America's uh expansion in Animal
9:44
Kingdom. Uh, more specifically including
9:47
the Indiana Jones yet unnamed
9:49
attraction.
9:52
>> Absolutely.
9:53
>> What do you want to make a guess on what
9:54
it is?
9:57
>> Like histories of the Mayan Temple or
9:59
something?
10:00
>> Something. It's going to be something
10:01
very simple like that. Of course it is.
10:05
>> Yeah. But um, yeah, because um, Dinosaur
10:09
was great and it had its run. Um, and I
10:13
absolutely love Indiana Jones at
10:15
Disneyland. So, kind of getting
10:18
something that where they're still
10:19
probably going to be using the same
10:21
track layout or whatever, but a
10:23
different adventure to it, I think would
10:25
be is going to be quite quite exciting.
10:28
>> Well, and just to add to that, I've been
10:31
on Indiana Jones in Tokyo Disney Sea,
10:35
and it's amazing for basically being the
10:38
same ride, how different it felt. like
10:40
it felt way more jerky and more
10:44
adventurous and
10:46
>> I don't know it felt like a step above
10:48
what we have at Disneyland
10:50
>> and you think that was early to like
10:53
that's a 20-year-old at least right I
10:54
think also
10:56
>> and this is going to come in and they're
11:00
going to have new programming new
11:02
effects I assume the new story we
11:04
already know
11:06
>> and also a kind of a new location for us
11:09
too as opposed to what we've seen with
11:11
Indiana Jones Adventure. So, I totally
11:14
agree with you on that. In fact, this
11:15
one was on my list and it was almost my
11:16
first one, so it's good thing I didn't
11:18
go first. Um,
11:20
>> but
11:21
>> I know there was going to be overlap
11:23
somewhere.
11:24
>> Absolutely. Especially when we're both
11:25
kind of parks guys. Um,
11:27
>> yep.
11:28
>> But I'm super stoked to see the
11:30
storyline they create for this because I
11:32
think there's a lot of potential with
11:34
that. Like, if I were in charge, there
11:37
would be a comic book. there would be
11:39
like
11:40
the best merchandise like which I'm sure
11:43
they'll the merchandise will be coming
11:44
but like you could do a novelization of
11:46
it. You could like there's so many
11:48
options that I just think haven't really
11:50
been
11:51
>> necessarily
11:53
explored completely for lack of a better
11:55
term. Um,
11:57
>> yeah,
11:58
>> regarding Indiana Jones, cuz I think the
12:00
focus has always been on the silver
12:02
screen or the attractions that exist,
12:04
and yes, there's been young Indiana
12:06
Jones and whatever, but
12:08
>> why not a book? Why not a comic book?
12:10
Why not a um
12:12
>> I don't know, like all of these side
12:14
things. I'm also very like sticking with
12:17
the whole tropical America thing. I'm
12:18
also very intrigued by the Encanto ride.
12:21
Um, I think that's going to be a lot of
12:22
fun
12:23
>> and I think the whole area is going to
12:25
feel more cohesive. What is it? 2027
12:28
when this is supposed to open,
12:30
>> I believe. So, yes,
12:31
>> I think so. And to me, looking at the
12:34
concept art and hearing the stories, all
12:36
of this kind of fit,
12:38
>> whereas
12:40
uh Dino Land was a little bit
12:42
disjunctive in some ways because like
12:45
over here you have the uh the roadside
12:48
carnival and then you have the the dig
12:52
and then you have the the institute and
12:54
like they kind of work to me, but they
12:56
also kind of felt like they were from
12:57
different places or something. Yeah,
13:00
they were very two very different
13:01
aesthetics. Um,
13:03
>> yeah, and and I think the as much as the
13:05
roadside carnival concept was kind of
13:07
fun, I think that was the one that
13:09
didn't work for me the most just because
13:12
>> Yeah.
13:12
>> where where would it ever happen that
13:15
next to a dino dig they'd let you put a
13:17
carnival that could ruin
13:20
>> Exactly. That that's that's a bit that's
13:22
a bit strange. Um,
13:24
>> yeah. So, I'm I'm looking forward to
13:25
seeing all that. I assume as well with
13:27
this there's going to be like breakout
13:30
entertainment or little moments or
13:32
characters or something that happen
13:33
also. And I think one of the coolest
13:37
things especially cuz Florida has that
13:40
like Indiana Jones feel already with its
13:42
jungles.
13:43
>> Like can you imagine seeing the temple
13:46
our new Mayan temple in Disney's Animal
13:48
Kingdom
13:49
>> and then you see Indiana Jones walking
13:51
around in front
13:53
>> or on
13:54
>> like so cool. I I think
13:57
>> absolutely
13:57
>> I don't think we could ask for many
13:59
better things like that that's going to
14:01
be fantastic. Um
14:04
yeah, I can't wait for that to be done.
14:06
>> 2027 is still a long ways away, it seems
14:08
like, but but that's okay.
14:11
>> All right. Uh my turn, I guess, huh? Uh
14:14
I'm going to go back to California
14:16
because I don't think you're going to
14:16
pick this one. Maybe you will. uh the
14:19
Coco attraction coming to Disney
14:21
California Adventure which will be back
14:23
in a basically unused area for at least
14:27
public facing area of the park. And to
14:31
me, this has so much potential of being
14:35
not just a beautiful attraction, which
14:37
I'm sure cuz like the visuals in Coco
14:39
are gorgeous. Um, but I also think this
14:42
could be a very
14:45
>> like it'll take you on the emotional
14:47
journey. And I think some of the best,
14:50
whether it's a movie, a soundtrack, a
14:52
ride, whatever, if if they can take you
14:55
on the ups and downs of the emotional
14:57
journeys where you get the highs and
14:58
lows of the story, that is like Disney
15:02
does it the best in or Pixar in this
15:05
case and and the thought of doing that
15:07
on a boat ride sounds like a lot of fun.
15:10
and
15:11
>> and and like I'm trying to think of it's
15:13
interesting how they're kind of leaning
15:14
back into boat rides now a little bit
15:17
when you think
15:18
>> for a while I feel like they were going
15:20
away from them and now we're getting you
15:21
know there's all of the frozen
15:23
attractions around the world and there's
15:26
uh
15:27
>> what's the one in Pandora that you guys
15:29
have?
15:30
>> Oh um
15:32
>> Na'vi River Journey.
15:33
>> No. Yeah, Na'vi River Journey. It shows
15:34
you how many times I've gone to Animal
15:36
Kingdom again.
15:38
>> Fair. But it's it's a beautiful
15:40
attraction and
15:42
>> if if and when the Avatar thing happens
15:45
out here that's going to be a boat ride.
15:47
Like it's really fascinating that
15:48
they're leaning back into that boat ride
15:50
thing. I will be curious if it will be a
15:54
like if we're always on the same level
15:55
or if it'll be like Pirates of the
15:57
Caribbean where you're going down or
15:58
maybe they take you up and then bring
16:00
you back down. I don't know. Like
16:01
there's lots of possibilities. Um, yeah.
16:04
And and just how they tell that story
16:06
and what music they use and all of those
16:08
fun things. Do you have any thoughts on
16:10
the Coco attraction?
16:12
>> I I think it sounds great. Um Um I'm
16:17
interested in this in seeing like what
16:19
their decision was in making it a boat
16:21
ride because that was never really an
16:23
element of the movie.
16:25
>> So, you know, it's it was a choice they
16:28
made and I think, hey, they'll make it
16:30
they'll make it worth it. I'm sure they
16:32
will. Um,
16:33
>> yeah.
16:34
>> So, yeah, I'm just interested in seeing
16:35
how
16:35
>> off the top of your head, what vehicle
16:37
would you use for a Coco attraction?
16:42
>> That is a good question. Um,
16:45
I would I would think probably more like
16:51
I would my my mind goes to the
16:56
um like that tram that they had in the
16:58
the land of the dead. Oh, okay. Yeah,
17:01
like the the trolley.
17:02
>> Something like that. Yeah. Okay.
17:04
Something like that. Um, which the
17:06
direction I was going too because I'm
17:08
like something like Peter Pan where
17:09
you're hanging and flying like
17:11
>> I could see that.
17:13
>> But I like a boat, you know, a boat ride
17:15
will be fun and I think they're going to
17:17
do a great job with it. And uh
17:19
>> I will be curious who's like what will
17:23
be the lens we're looking through as we
17:25
go on this attraction. Like will it be
17:28
you're Miguel riding through this story,
17:30
you know, experiencing the story, or
17:31
will you just
17:33
>> see all of these things and you're kind
17:34
of like the hidden viewer that just
17:37
happens to go along or or do they pick
17:40
one of the other characters that you see
17:41
it through the lens of their their life
17:43
for afterlife? Um
17:47
>> all right. Uh what do you got?
17:50
>> Okay. So, uh, next on my list is, um,
17:55
something that's happening in both, uh,
17:58
Disney World and Disneyland is the
18:00
Mandalorian and Grou,
18:02
>> uh, Smugglers Run update.
18:05
>> Yes,
18:06
>> absolutely.
18:07
>> And why are you excited about this?
18:09
>> What gets me excited about this one is
18:11
because it's delivering on something we
18:13
expected to happen in the first
18:15
iteration, which is choice. you get
18:18
choice of destinations. You get a little
18:21
a lot more freedom in the experience. So
18:24
that way it's not the same thing every
18:27
single time, you know.
18:29
>> So I think that is that shows me that
18:33
they haven't forgotten what they had
18:34
initially told us about that attraction.
18:37
Um and they've they found a way to make
18:39
that happen again. Mhm.
18:41
>> And um that makes me so excited because
18:44
um it's starting to actually give Star
18:46
Tours a run for its money now. So, you
18:49
know,
18:50
>> it's not passing it at this point.
18:51
>> Oh, yeah. Absolutely. So, um that's
18:54
going to be exciting. Um that ride is is
18:57
is great, but it's you know, once you've
19:00
done it, you've done it,
19:01
>> you know. And then also giving the
19:03
engineer a little bit more to do because
19:06
I've I've hated right doing engineer.
19:09
Um, only because like pilot and gunner
19:13
are fine or pilot is great, gunner is
19:16
fine, but engineer and if you have a bad
19:19
pilot,
19:20
>> your face is turned to the side and so
19:23
it's like you get
19:25
>> jostled around and you can't figure out
19:27
what's what's up and what's down. So,
19:30
you know, that's uh
19:32
>> that's what I'm Isn't it right that the
19:35
engineer gets to choose where you're
19:36
going to?
19:37
>> Yes. I think that's such a great choice
19:40
and yeah,
19:41
>> because it really does uh I guess level
19:44
the playing field for lack of a better
19:46
term, but uh it'll be interesting to see
19:49
>> with all of the different variations for
19:51
this if there's still a need for
19:55
>> Star Tours
19:57
>> because it kind of does take over that
19:59
place
20:01
>> and
20:02
>> and I think they have different like
20:05
they're different experiences still and
20:06
they're they have their different
20:09
niches, I guess you could say. But on
20:10
the flip side,
20:13
uh, you know, at Hollywood Studios, Star
20:15
Tours isn't really by the rest of Star
20:17
Wars. Same with Disneyland. And
20:20
>> I do have to wonder if, you know,
20:23
especially at Disneyland, if if they're
20:25
like, hey, we could throw in, you know,
20:28
the Iron Man thing there or or something
20:31
completely new. You know, that'd be the
20:33
real dream is something completely new
20:34
that nobody's ever heard of before. And
20:37
>> you do have to wonder if somebody's kind
20:39
of looking at that space and going,
20:42
"Huh, these are now two somewhat similar
20:44
attractions.
20:46
>> Yes, we can throw stories into Star
20:49
Tours quicker
20:50
>> at this point, but that might change,
20:52
too. I do wonder if if if
20:55
>> that could eventually lead to a not
20:58
needing Star Tours if you can get the
21:01
same result out of Millennium Falcon
21:03
Smugglers Run." Um, the other part of
21:05
that I'm excited about beyond just
21:07
getting a new movie, which I think will
21:08
be a lot of fun,
21:10
>> is I'm also really looking forward to
21:13
>> Our Galaxy's Edge getting the story line
21:16
expanded, which was
21:18
>> was on my list as as part of I like kind
21:20
of put all of that together. Um,
21:23
>> just because Galaxy's Edge is a blast,
21:27
>> but what makes it even more fun is when
21:29
you see the characters you know and love
21:31
walking around, interacting with people,
21:34
people geeking out about them and and
21:37
getting to see your favorite Star Wars
21:39
character. And I think that's something
21:41
that
21:42
>> they had an idea for and I think they
21:45
can now improve on that idea. And as
21:48
much as it, you know, the the
21:52
new trilogy of characters resonate with
21:54
the younger fans, one of the things I've
21:57
noticed when we've had like Season of
21:59
the Force and stuff out here, is like
22:02
when we had Luke Skywalker out here last
22:04
year, I guess, um it was fun watching
22:08
I'm used to seeing little kids and or
22:10
younger people running up to characters
22:12
and being excited about them,
22:14
>> but in this case and one one moment
22:16
stands out really to me is I saw a a
22:20
boy, his dad, and what I presume is his
22:22
grandfather all excited to meet Luke and
22:25
getting a picture all three of them like
22:27
three different generations with Luke
22:29
Skywalker and grandpa was equally
22:32
excited as grandson if if they were
22:34
related like I think they were
22:35
>> and it was just one of those moments
22:37
like that's what Star Wars can do is cuz
22:41
like most of us it was a parent or an
22:43
older cousin or you know somebody in our
22:46
families quite often introduced us to
22:48
Star Wars and it's almost like a right
22:50
of passage for our generation
22:52
>> and I can remember watching it with my
22:55
dad and family as a kid when it was on
22:58
whatever TV station it was on before you
23:00
know before streaming and all of that
23:02
fun stuff but um but it was the original
23:05
trilogy and that's really like my circle
23:08
or my
23:09
>> core focal point of the fandom comes
23:11
from the original trilogy and then I
23:14
think the next generation after us cuz
23:16
we're similar in age probably was that
23:18
prequel trilogy which a lot of people
23:21
came in for that too and and then the
23:24
the other group kind of were like oh
23:26
okay well that one's not as good as the
23:28
original and then comes the new trilogy
23:30
and everybody's like well that's not as
23:32
good as the prequels and I'm sure
23:34
whatever comes next they'll be like well
23:36
that's not as good as that other
23:39
>> right
23:39
>> but we all
23:42
>> but we all connect with different
23:43
characters and I love that now really
23:47
all of them are going to be covered and
23:49
everybody can have that connection with
23:51
the Star Wars they love now
23:53
>> and I think that's going to be so fun to
23:56
watch and experience. But but from my
23:59
perspective, I'm just going to love
24:00
going in with my camera, taking pictures
24:02
of the characters
24:04
>> and and seeing these things, these
24:06
interactions play out with with the
24:08
different eras. And and I hope maybe you
24:11
don't hope this, you can tell me in a
24:12
second, that you guys eventually in
24:14
Florida get an expanded timeline, too,
24:17
because I just think that's so awesome.
24:20
>> Oh, no. I totally 100% would love to get
24:23
that. Um, I think because I feel that
24:29
those older original trilogy characters
24:32
do have such a more broader appeal to a
24:36
larger audience. And I think that
24:39
bringing that in is going to bring more
24:42
people in. Um because I think there's
24:45
people that don't go in.
24:47
>> Yeah. That don't go because they know
24:50
well this is the it's the Disney trilogy
24:52
and blah blah blah and I don't like it
24:53
and you know like all right but you know
24:56
I think bringing that in would be a way
25:00
to bring more people in for sure.
25:02
>> And how awesome will it be to see Darth
25:04
Vader walking through Galaxy's Edge? Oh,
25:07
it's game over. I'm like that's that's
25:10
it.
25:10
>> Yeah,
25:11
>> he's not even my favorite character, but
25:12
the thought of that just right,
25:14
>> you know, makes you geek out. And Han
25:16
Solo, like
25:17
>> super cool. Who is your favorite Star
25:19
Wars character?
25:21
>> Oh, Darth Meter 100%.
25:23
>> Okay, so double win for you.
25:25
>> Oh yeah, absolutely.
25:28
>> Nice. Nice. Um, yeah. I'm very curious
25:31
to see how this plays out and I really
25:33
hope it's successful because I would
25:35
love to see this happen in Florida as
25:37
well because I just think I think it'll
25:39
be awesome. Are you excited about the
25:41
new Mandalorian movie, too?
25:44
>> I'm I'm on the fence about it, I'll be
25:46
honest. Um Um I loved the first two
25:50
seasons. Wasn't a fan of the third
25:52
season. Um so I'm kind of like there's
25:56
there's chance for redemption here, I'll
25:58
be honest. Um, but the third season kind
26:01
of left a bad taste in my mouth a little
26:02
bit. Um,
26:04
>> I'm predicting it'll be a fun ride.
26:06
>> Oh, I'm sure it will. Absolutely.
26:08
>> That's like that's my expectations. Like
26:10
I think I'll enjoy it. Will it Will it
26:11
completely blow my mind? I'm not
26:14
expecting it to. It might, but Right. I
26:16
don't know.
26:18
>> Yeah.
26:18
>> I can't think of a John Favll movie I
26:21
really haven't liked. So
26:23
>> that's true.
26:25
That's
26:25
>> from Chef to Iron Man to you name it.
26:28
Like he just tends to make good movies.
26:31
>> Oh
26:32
>> Um
26:34
>> do you want to go again or do you want
26:36
me to go?
26:36
>> Yeah, I'll go ahead.
26:38
>> Yeah, you go ahead cuz that basically I
26:40
added with with expansion.
26:42
>> Yeah, that's cool. Um so next on my list
26:46
is the Villains Land.
26:49
>> Nice.
26:50
Um,
26:52
that is of course that's something us
26:55
Disney World people have been
26:56
speculating for decades. Um, something
26:59
like whether it was its own park or um
27:02
if it was just an attraction of
27:05
something villains themed,
27:07
>> that's something that we've been wanting
27:09
to have happen for a long time.
27:11
>> And um when they announced it at the uh
27:15
the um D23 Yeah. and that was like
27:20
finally something that we wanted,
27:23
you know, and um yeah, so I'm I'm really
27:26
looking forward to seeing what they're
27:28
going to be doing, especially after um
27:30
the latest round of news of the changing
27:33
ideas and new things coming up. So, it's
27:35
like I'm I'm trusting you guys to do
27:38
this. Um,
27:42
>> don't you think that's some of the most
27:43
fun it is to be a Disney fan though is
27:46
when
27:47
>> suddenly people care this much about it
27:49
that they're like, "Well, no, I heard
27:51
this is happening and no, this is
27:53
happening." And
27:55
>> the the truth is always I feel like
27:57
somewhere in between and you know maybe
28:00
the changes happened, maybe they didn't.
28:02
Maybe they happened years ago and now
28:04
there be takeovers that happened months
28:06
ago. Like I think it's hilarious to
28:08
watch this play out and I think we all
28:11
win because of this because
28:13
>> Disney can tell how high the stakes are
28:16
>> because
28:18
>> everybody is in it. Like
28:20
>> I can't think of
28:22
like I'm thinking back like people were
28:25
super excited when they were making Cars
28:27
Land out here
28:28
>> and that was a big deal.
28:31
>> But I don't think it was as big of a
28:32
deal as Villains Land. Like I think this
28:34
might end up being one of those
28:37
>> those like
28:39
>> game ch cuz Carsland really was a game
28:41
changer for the Disneyland resort and I
28:43
could see this being the same thing for
28:45
Walt Disney World cuz
28:47
>> oh sure
28:48
>> we haven't really
28:50
the sky's the limit because they really
28:52
haven't focused on villains like this in
28:55
in the parks and uh
28:57
>> right
28:57
>> and I predict if it's remotely
29:00
successful there is probably some face a
29:03
Disneyland Paris or Disney Adventure
29:05
World where they're like boom going
29:07
right here cuz I know it seems like
29:10
>> I don't know villains and and Europe
29:13
like that's where all these villains
29:15
came well so many of these villains came
29:16
from and I'm like I want to see it in in
29:21
>> you know how fantasy land it seems like
29:23
it should come from Europe also like cuz
29:25
so many it's the origin story thing I'm
29:27
like I want to see it everywhere. Um,
29:29
what is one villain you hope you see or
29:32
experience when you're in Villains Land
29:34
whenever that finally opens?
29:36
>> Oh man, that there's there's so many
29:38
great villains that that could be um
29:43
that could be spotlighted there. Um, I
29:47
would love to see
29:49
um, of course, Maleficent. Maleficent is
29:51
going to be
29:54
she's just going to be there. It's
29:55
that's just Yeah, that's going to be um
29:57
I would love to see maybe some Ursula.
30:00
Um maybe uh Gaston or maybe um this is
30:08
um maybe
30:10
gosh, Hades. I could just list them all.
30:13
I mean, all I could see see them all
30:15
having some kind of presence there. Um
30:20
yeah, I mean maybe a little bit of Black
30:22
Cauldron in there somewhere. I don't
30:23
know. But I feel like that concept art
30:26
they originally released.
30:29
>> Yeah,
30:29
>> that very much like lent itself to
30:32
having at least a nod to Black Cauldron
30:34
somewhere cuz Yeah, I totally could see
30:35
that.
30:36
>> Um it is kind of interesting. I feel
30:38
like sometimes in the more recent films
30:41
there haven't been as many like outright
30:43
villains
30:44
>> and uh and you wonder if we're going to
30:47
see a pivot back towards more
30:49
>> like Captain Hooks or Maleficents or
30:53
Kellas or Madam Mim. Like let's let's
30:57
pick a random one.
30:58
>> Like there's so many great characters
31:00
through the years and I hope we get some
31:03
of their henchmen too.
31:04
>> Like I want to get some of the the
31:06
helpers and and
31:09
you know,
31:10
>> because I just think it it adds so much
31:12
and uh and that would be a lot of fun to
31:14
see. I also think
31:17
>> it will be very fun to photograph.
31:20
>> Like,
31:20
>> oh yeah,
31:20
>> you know, I love to go in with my camera
31:22
and I think we're going to have a blast.
31:25
Like I can I can totally imagine like,
31:27
hey Mikey, I'm coming to town. Do you
31:28
want to go to Villains Land and take
31:30
pictures and and we'll go do your thing.
31:33
>> Absolutely. And another thing that
31:35
visually speaking, sighteline wise al
31:37
also is I'm interested in how seeing how
31:40
it transitions around the Haunted
31:42
Mansion area.
31:42
>> Yeah,
31:43
>> that's kind of what I want to see.
31:45
That's what I'm because we're going to
31:46
have Piston Peak right there. Um, so I'm
31:49
interested in seeing that kind of visual
31:52
transition between Fantasy Land,
31:54
>> Piston Peak, and the Villains area right
31:57
there.
31:57
>> Well, here's a random question for you.
32:01
Does Haunted Mansion become like the
32:04
gateway
32:05
to Villains Land? Because it really
32:07
could kind of fit into either land and
32:10
so it's it's a very natural transition.
32:13
>> I'm thinking it will be um I'm thinking
32:18
um because I think Big Thunder is just
32:23
is a good stopping point. I think um
32:25
there will be an entrance through that
32:27
side of course, but I think visually
32:29
>> Haunted Mansion has that more more of
32:32
that feel than
32:33
>> Big Thunder does.
32:34
>> Whatever.
32:35
>> Yeah.
32:36
>> Right. So, I think that will be the the
32:39
main main entrance on that side.
32:42
>> I think it that's going to be amazing,
32:44
too. Like I I just think
32:47
like Piston Peak will be interesting and
32:49
fun and make you happy, but
32:53
>> I think we'll really be geeking out
32:56
about Villains Land
32:58
>> because I think Cars Land has this
33:02
really defined world with which in it's
33:05
going to exist. Like we know Cars, we
33:07
know all of the rules for Cars,
33:10
>> right? Villains Land
33:13
can go anywhere.
33:15
>> Exactly. Yeah.
33:16
>> There there are no rules. They can they
33:18
can kind of I mean they're villains.
33:20
They break the rules.
33:22
>> Exactly. Yeah.
33:23
>> So, it'll be very interesting to see how
33:25
they break the rules. What are the
33:26
stories they decide to tell?
33:28
>> How do they decide to tell these
33:30
stories? Because they could really go
33:31
anyway with them. And um
33:34
>> and then
33:35
>> like how scary do they go or how how
33:38
dramatic do they you know like
33:40
>> and they're clearly going
33:42
>> for authenticity too which was
33:44
interesting at destination D23 learning
33:46
like
33:47
>> these these rearch research trips
33:49
they're going on
33:51
>> and um
33:52
>> I yeah I can't wait for it's going to be
33:54
great.
33:55
>> All right. Are we at number five now?
33:57
Was that number five for you?
33:58
>> Uh that was number four for me.
34:01
>> Okay. Why don't you do Oh, yeah. Because
34:02
we had two that were the same. Why don't
34:04
we do your number five and then we'll do
34:06
my number five and we'll see if they're
34:07
the same one.
34:09
>> All right. Uh so my number five uh is
34:12
going to be um the um
34:17
uh where'd it go? There it is. Um it's
34:20
going to be the um the Piston Peak area
34:24
>> really
34:25
>> cars. Yeah, I am actually looking
34:26
forward to that. Now, I will say that I
34:28
am I am saddened about the the loss of
34:31
the Rivers of America, but um
34:34
>> I am happy to say we did not overlap on
34:36
this talk about why you're excited.
34:40
>> Yeah. Well, you know, it's the um
34:45
I think it's just because the
34:48
um
34:50
the having something that's more kinetic
34:53
um than Rivers of America was um and Tom
34:57
Sawyers Island. Um sure, you could walk
35:00
around there, walk around the bridges,
35:01
but that's really all it was. It was
35:03
just it was a glorified walking area.
35:06
Mhm.
35:06
>> Um and um there of course there used to
35:09
be a little restaurant there um that
35:11
that stopped
35:13
>> operating long ago. Um and a lot of the
35:17
spaces there um especially in like the
35:19
cave areas and all that stuff very
35:21
claustrophobic.
35:23
Um
35:24
>> not uh very accessible to people who
35:27
might need assistance. Um, so you know,
35:31
I feel like this will be a much better
35:34
use of the space. Um,
35:36
>> okay.
35:36
>> And especially the the the that kind of
35:39
attraction that they're doing. Now, I I
35:41
recently learned that it is going to be
35:42
a tracked
35:45
>> um attraction rather than like the but
35:48
they tease like the whole um automated
35:51
thing. That's fine. That's great. It's
35:53
it's still going to be still going to be
35:55
fun. Um
35:56
>> I like whatever it ends up being, it'll
35:57
be fun. Oh yeah, absolutely. So yeah,
36:00
that's that's that's my number that's my
36:02
number five.
36:03
>> Like I assume that it's going to be the
36:05
next iteration of Radiator Springs Racer
36:07
Racers, which is the next iteration of
36:09
Tester, you know, like I assume it'll be
36:11
whatever the spiritual successor of that
36:13
is going to be. And
36:15
>> that'll be fine. Like it'll be fun. And
36:17
>> yeah,
36:18
>> I hope they lean into the whole national
36:20
park from the perspective of the old uh
36:23
Disney shorts thing.
36:25
>> Yeah. like Ranger Ranger Autobon like I
36:28
think was a great in that concept art
36:30
like I loved that vibe and that style
36:33
and
36:33
>> right
36:34
>> I love the idea of it's a really good
36:37
blending of that classic Disney with the
36:40
Pixar cars
36:42
>> and I think that's a really smart move
36:45
that visually and even from a feeling
36:48
standpoint when we walk into it it's
36:50
going to feel natural there because I
36:52
think a lot of people might have been
36:54
concerned when they hear cars
36:57
Oh, is that going to feel right in
36:58
there? And if you kind of lean into or
37:02
lean into that
37:04
>> classic Disney old school, you know,
37:07
Humphrey the Bear, put it in the bag
37:09
bump bump uh thing.
37:11
>> I think people will be happy with that.
37:14
The thing I'm very curious about, and
37:16
I'm sure they've thought about this, but
37:18
you and I have been to Cars Land.
37:20
>> Yeah.
37:21
>> You hear the cars racing by every
37:23
>> Oh, sure. 20 seconds, minute, whatever
37:26
it is. And I'll be curious if
37:31
I guess I'm curious how loud because you
37:33
hear it in Epcot too from all over the
37:34
place from Test Track. Like I will be
37:36
curious if you hear that or do you hear
37:38
the waterfall kind of thing or is it a
37:40
mix or like and this is not the end of
37:42
the world. It's just a me being a nerd.
37:44
>> And um
37:46
>> but I think I think there's a lot of
37:48
possibility to make something visually
37:50
stunning, which you look at what they
37:53
did in Carsland. you got good reason to
37:55
think so. Um, I think it also
37:58
>> in some ways will
38:01
hopefully connect with the story that's
38:03
being told even more in Frontier Land
38:06
that's that's kind of gotten a little
38:08
bit muddled because like Tiana's uh
38:11
Bayou Adventure is kind of one thing and
38:13
then you've got Country Bears and then
38:16
you go into Liberty Square and this
38:17
might be kind of a way to kind of like
38:20
>> bring all of these different things
38:22
together hopefully. And um
38:24
>> yeah,
38:26
>> it'll be interesting to see. I I think I
38:28
think you're right. And and I actually
38:30
thought of this one, but I wasn't sure
38:32
how much of a sore spot that was. So, um
38:35
>> I was like, I'm going to skip that one.
38:37
Uh all right,
38:40
>> my fifth one I thought was going to be
38:42
one of your five and I almost didn't put
38:45
it because of this, and that is Muppets
38:47
Rock and Roller Coaster, uh which will
38:49
be opening this summer. And I feel like
38:53
anything that we get that is Muppets is
38:55
a win, especially after losing Muppet
38:58
Vision on both coasts. Yes, we're
39:00
getting a VR version, it sounds like,
39:01
but
39:03
>> I I just think the more Muppets the
39:05
better. I love the new Muppet Show. So,
39:07
I hope we are entering a new era of
39:13
>> vibrant Muppets, if that makes sense.
39:15
Like I hope this is an era where they
39:17
really thrive and
39:19
>> are loved and beloved and you know who
39:22
knows maybe this becomes such a big deal
39:24
that you get another
39:26
>> uh season of Muppets Mayhem or hopefully
39:30
more episodes of the Muppet Show or even
39:32
just more Muppet merch because you can
39:34
never have too much Muppet merch in my
39:36
opinion. Like I don't buy a lot of
39:38
merchandise from Disney but when there's
39:40
good Muppet merch
39:42
>> there's no stopping me. Like you you
39:44
can't stop it. How you know if they made
39:46
Muppet bow ties? I already have like
39:47
four, but
39:50
>> but
39:51
>> what's four more? I' I'd buy them all.
39:53
But I'm really
39:54
>> I'm really looking forward to that. I'm
39:56
looking forward to more Penguin uh audio
39:58
animatronics, a scooter audio
40:00
animatronic. I would love a surprise uh
40:04
Kermit the Frog audio animatronic. Like
40:07
>> give it all to me. Like I can't wait for
40:08
this. I think it's going to be a great
40:11
way to bring the Muppets to a new
40:14
generation, too,
40:15
>> and and help them realize how I mean,
40:18
it's kind of like what we were talking
40:19
about with Star Wars. And
40:22
>> Disney has this fine balancing act all
40:24
the time of
40:26
>> keeping current fans happy while making
40:29
sure there's new fans coming in so that
40:32
what the current fans love can still
40:35
exist because we all eventually do drop
40:37
off of of the planet. And so you do kind
40:40
of always be having to add to that that
40:43
fan base. And
40:45
>> so I I really hope this is a way they
40:47
can do that. And I really hope it ends
40:49
up being as awesome as it sounds like
40:51
it's going to be.
40:53
>> Yeah. Um I can see it being uh being
40:56
interesting. Now, um Rock and Roller
40:59
Coaster was never really a ride that I
41:01
could do. Um um that kind of a coaster
41:05
is does not agree with me. Um so I've
41:08
gone through the queue numerous times.
41:10
Um,
41:11
>> and that would be interesting to see the
41:13
Muppets and how that they how bring what
41:16
they bring to the to the attraction. Um,
41:20
I'm not going to ride it, but I'll go
41:22
through the queue and see what they do.
41:24
>> Do they have a version of it? Like, so a
41:27
couple of the attractions out here for
41:29
people that can't go through the entire
41:30
thing, they'll have like a room to the
41:32
side where they basically do a video
41:34
version of the of the attraction. So,
41:36
like I'm thinking Submarine Voyage is
41:38
one of them. And then also our castle
41:40
walkthrough because not everybody can do
41:41
the stairs. Um, do they ever do that
41:43
like that in Florida?
41:45
>> No. No, they don't. Um,
41:47
>> I feel like listening to you talk I'm
41:49
like that totally makes sense to me is
41:52
you walk through the queue and then you
41:53
hang a left and you get to,
41:55
>> you know, watch what would happen if you
41:57
continued straight or whatever, you
41:58
know, like I don't know.
42:00
>> No, it's just go through this door,
42:02
follow this hallway, and it takes you to
42:04
the the unload area. Okay, cool. Thanks.
42:07
See you. That was great.
42:09
>> Good qual.
42:11
>> Yeah.
42:13
>> I I Well, I hope they I hope they do
42:16
something like that because I think
42:17
that'd be super cool. Um
42:19
>> Yeah.
42:19
>> And I'm I'm sure the queue will be
42:20
fantastic. Like to me,
42:23
>> half of the attraction will be the queue
42:25
just because when you're zipping through
42:26
it's hard to see everything anyway. And
42:29
um especially for those of us that have
42:31
to take our glasses off in the dark. But
42:35
but I think it'll be a blast. Uh did you
42:38
have any honorable mentions or things
42:40
that almost made your list? I didn't
42:42
warn you that I was going to do this.
42:44
>> Yeah. No. No. Um I think the next one
42:47
would definitely be um the Monsters Inc.
42:50
Um
42:51
>> Okay.
42:51
>> Uh area in Hollywood Studios. Um
42:56
rest in peace Muppet Courtyard. Um but
42:59
you know um it was either that or it was
43:02
the animation area. Um yeah that was
43:05
another honorable mention uh there as
43:07
well the animation
43:09
>> um pavilion um just for the nostalgia of
43:12
it because
43:14
>> uh that's that's what that was that was
43:16
an animation studio.
43:18
>> Once again that's a good way to
43:20
revitalize a classic area of the park.
43:23
>> Yeah,
43:23
>> I agree completely. So, those were the
43:26
couple of the ones that could have been
43:29
made on the list, but we're just just
43:32
below there.
43:33
>> So, I'm going to give you one more that
43:34
was almost on my list, and that is the
43:37
new Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland,
43:40
because that new Space Mountain looks
43:42
epic. Like I love how they've
43:46
>> I love how they've reimagined the look
43:48
and feel of Tomorrowland while still
43:50
feeling like Tomorrowland,
43:52
>> which is something that I think has
43:53
eluded Disney pretty
43:55
>> well for a very long time.
43:57
>> Yes.
43:58
>> And I'm like I am so excited for I think
44:00
that's next year too when it's going to
44:02
be done. And I can't wait to see,
44:04
>> you know, what does Space Mountain look
44:05
like? What does the area look like?
44:07
because I I think they went from in some
44:10
ways the oldest looking Tomorrowland to
44:13
now they're going to have this vibrant
44:15
like it feels like it's from the future
44:17
to me when I look at it and uh I can't
44:20
wait to to see this completed. So that's
44:22
that's the one I'll add for my honorable
44:24
mention. Um I think I probably had
44:25
others but now I'm forgetting them.
44:27
>> But uh anyway, thank you Mikey for
44:30
hopping on for our first of the fives.
44:32
Hopefully you at home have enjoyed us
44:34
going through our fives and we'd love to
44:36
hear what your fives are as well. So let
44:38
us know in the comments or on social
44:40
media or at Daps Magagic HQ. We'd love
44:42
to connect with you at any of these.
44:45
We'd also love it if you'd rate this
44:46
podcast so people can find it. Share it
44:49
with your friends that would also enjoy
44:50
these conversations cuz it's always more
44:53
fun doing these together. I think that's
44:54
why we have Mikey here. But uh we hope
44:57
you're having a fantastic week. Thank
44:59
you, Mikey, again for being on Dap's
45:02
Magic, Disney, and positive stuff. We
45:03
can't wait to do it again.
45:05
>> Yeah, thank you so much for having me.
45:07
>> Oh, my pleasure. But for now, we're
45:09
gonna say make it a great week,
45:10
everybody. Stay, keep kind, and stay
45:13
positive.
