Hold on.

Hold on.

Photoics.
0:35
>> Welcome to Photo Nicks. I'm Mr. Daps.
0:37
And I'm Clocky. And we're here today to
0:39
look at old photos of Disneyland. We've
0:41
got some photos picked out. Something
0:43
fun, something different, and or
0:45
something not not different, something
0:47
old. Really? Is Is there something old,
0:50
something new, something borrowed and
0:52
blue? There. Oh, there is something blue
0:54
this this time.
0:55
>> Okay. So, we're we're halfway there.
0:56
We're halfway there. The day we have
0:58
something new on here. Well, I guess we
1:00
have new to us, but not like it kind of
1:03
defi defies the purpose of having new if
1:06
we're about history.
1:09
I don't know. Uh before we get into all
1:12
of that though, if you would be so kind,
1:14
we would love if you took a moment to
1:15
one, subscribe, to share this podcast
1:19
wherever you happen to be watching or
1:20
listening to it. We prefer watching
1:22
because then you can actually see the
1:24
pictures that we're looking at. And then
1:25
three, if you can give us ratings or
1:27
comments, those help us get seen more
1:30
and help other people get to see what we
1:32
are geeking out about and hopefully uh
1:34
they get to enjoy this as well. So, uh
1:36
then we can all do this together and
1:38
it's a whole lot more fun and we're
1:40
going to get more people on just like we
1:41
had Jeff and Denise a few I guess was
1:44
months ago now, huh? It seems like just
1:46
yesterday. But, uh we have a lot of fun
1:48
things to look at. But, uh what what
1:50
photos are we looking at today? I will
1:52
warn you this. I did look at one thing
1:54
cuz one thing that we're going to look
1:55
at today I said well when did that
1:57
happen? So we're going to look at that's
1:59
good. We're going to look at photos of
2:00
stuff that you wouldn't see at
2:02
Disneyland today. Whether it is a a
2:05
guest it isn't extinct attractions but
2:07
whether it is a a guest interaction or a
2:10
cast member doing something that you go
2:13
that not today. Not not today. Would you
2:16
call this extinct experiences? I
2:19
wouldn't go that far. I would go as
2:21
close I would go as close as
2:24
definitely Disneyland of yestery year.
2:28
All right, I'm I'm very intrigued. Let's
2:30
take a look. All right, let's go to
2:32
sharing the screen.
2:38
Here we have our first photo. This is
2:41
from July of 1959. It is on the outside
2:45
of Disneyland looking kind of in but
2:47
really into where we have guests on a
2:50
tram coming from different areas of the
2:53
parking lot. Now on top of the fact that
2:55
we don't have the parking lot anymore.
2:57
Looking at the conveyance of no lap
3:00
bars, no doors,
3:03
no nothing. This goes back to Disneyland
3:05
handcrafted where you go,
3:08
>> yeah, we have different rules now. One
3:10
of the rules is that you guys need to be
3:12
secured.
3:14
I mean, I can And it literally looks
3:16
like they took a trailer and and threw
3:19
some seats on it and a and a roof so
3:21
that you wouldn't be in the sun, but the
3:23
roof's so small. They're pretty much all
3:24
in the sun anyway. That's funny. Yeah,
3:28
this one is amazing. You can see in the
3:30
background, you can see the uh main
3:32
street uh railroad station. You can
3:36
almost kind of see the entrance in the
3:37
back. And then we have one lady hopping
3:39
on. And that's also I would say this
3:41
looking at that lady right there. That's
3:42
a pretty big step.
3:44
It's a pretty And it's not a deep step
3:47
that she's getting on to. It looks like
3:49
either cuz if you look at the lady in
3:51
the middle her she doesn't look like a a
3:54
large lady, but her feet actually both
3:56
her and the man next to her, it looks
3:57
like their feet are sticking out over
3:59
the edge.
4:00
>> Toes are poking out.
4:02
>> That's amazing.
4:03
>> It's a pretty wild photo. It's fun.
4:06
I I like that it says that the tram
4:08
loading all sections except B and C.
4:10
Also, that's very straightforward,
4:13
>> right?
4:16
>> And and you can see a little bit of the
4:17
ticket booths in the background, which
4:18
is kind of fun also.
4:22
>> This what a different era, right?
4:25
>> Yeah. That that step up.
4:27
>> Well, and I love that on the far right
4:29
you can see the guy in the next Oh, the
4:32
trailer, I guess. I don't know what to
4:33
call car.
4:33
>> Yeah. like just sitting there with his
4:35
arm over the edge and no big deal.
4:39
That is fun.
4:42
So yeah, 1959
4:43
>> and they're not in suits.
4:45
>> No. Yeah. Well, cuz it's July, I guess.
4:48
>> It's July, but we'll see. We'll see some
4:50
more July here in a bit. But yeah, no
4:53
suits.
4:55
>> Long long dress. Yeah. Still still.
4:57
>> Yeah.
4:58
>> Still dress still getting getting uh
5:00
dressed up to go to the park. So, I
5:03
would love to know the thought process
5:05
behind this picture. Was this a I just
5:07
got to Disneyland and I'm taking a
5:09
picture of the tram I'm about to get on
5:12
or am I related to someone, you know,
5:14
one of those three people that are
5:16
sitting maybe even the fourth lady
5:17
that's about to like what was right. Go.
5:21
It's always interesting when you catch
5:22
these moments. Go get a go get a picture
5:24
or hey, let's get a picture. Oh, this
5:26
tram's here. We'll get a picture anyway.
5:29
Yeah.
5:30
Huh. Very interesting. Cool. All right,
5:33
let's move on to our next photo. And we
5:36
have
5:40
I love this.
5:41
>> We have all guests getting their
5:42
tickets, getting their ticket books,
5:44
checking I think probably a camera, I
5:46
assume, or something.
5:48
>> Or looking at a toy that was just
5:50
purchased.
5:52
>> It's a little out of focus, but yeah,
5:54
it's something.
5:55
>> Yeah, someone's showing something else.
5:56
You know, we're here.
5:57
>> It's not out of focus.
5:59
>> Is something that you would not see now.
6:01
And that is Pluto on the outside of the
6:05
main gate.
6:08
I mean, the thing that you would see is
6:10
the person reaching for Pluto.
6:12
>> That arm, that arm is great.
6:15
>> That's very funny. Um, what I love about
6:19
this though is it says something about
6:21
the thought process of hospitality
6:26
back in whenever this was taken. And did
6:29
you say what year this was? This is a
6:30
slide. And so hang on one second. And
6:35
oh, I go back to that. This was taken in
6:39
1961.
6:41
Okay, so this says something about the
6:43
thought process of hospitality back then
6:46
where they want the magical moments to
6:49
begin before you're even in the park. So
6:51
let's let's send out Pluto and greet
6:54
people beyond just our, you know,
6:56
day-to-day cast members, you know, rank
6:58
and file. And I think that's kind of a
7:00
fun thing. And I can think of even like
7:03
15, 20 years ago, maybe even less, when
7:05
they used to send the Disneyland band
7:07
and the characters out inside of Main
7:09
Gate there and they do their little fun
7:10
moments in the morning.
7:12
>> And you almost wonder if that's an
7:14
evolution of, well, we used to send
7:16
characters out there and then we're
7:17
like, well, what about this, you know?
7:18
Yeah, it would be fun to find that out.
7:21
Here's the compromise where the magic
7:22
stays in the with within the gates.
7:26
We can keep it contained, but uh it's
7:29
also crazy just to think
7:32
where I mean you see the gate there
7:35
behind in the background,
7:36
>> right?
7:36
>> We walk through that all of the time.
7:39
Now,
7:39
>> when is the last time you saw that like
7:43
it's crowded in this picture,
7:44
>> right?
7:45
>> But quite often that area would now be
7:49
definitely part of a line to get into
7:51
the park, right? If it's even remotely
7:53
halfway busy. Well, and then just also
7:54
the ticket booth, how close that is to
7:56
the main gate,
7:58
>> right? And it actually looking at this,
8:01
it reminds me of Knots Berry Farm.
8:03
>> Oh, because you know, you walk up and
8:05
there's the ticket booth still there and
8:07
you've, you know, you go another 15, 20
8:08
feet and you're in the park and um
8:12
>> but it's hard to beat those ticket
8:14
booths. Like these are very cute.
8:16
Always great ticket. You can almost read
8:18
the prices.
8:20
the Big 10 ticket book. The jumbo 15
8:23
ticket book.
8:24
>> Uh $5 for a guided tour, $3 for
8:27
children.
8:30
Wow.
8:33
And then Yeah, that's awesome. And as
8:35
standard
8:36
>> and the outfits are great, too.
8:37
>> Oh, yes. Standard dresses, long pants,
8:39
guy in a tie,
8:42
>> with a pocket protector, it looks like,
8:44
too,
8:45
>> possibly. Or is that something in front
8:47
of him?
8:49
No, I think that's a I don't know. I
8:51
don't know. I'd like to think that's a
8:52
pocket protector. I got to keep your
8:54
pockets protected.
8:56
>> Exactly. Oh, let's move inside.
9:00
>> What a great picture.
9:00
>> The park. Yeah, this one's a great This
9:02
is a slide I have though, and it it
9:04
blows up. Nice. Here's something that
9:06
you
9:06
>> This is This is amazing.
9:09
>> Wow.
9:10
>> So, this is July 1960. We're back in
9:12
July. Uh we're with a coat. So the the
9:15
one thing with this again when we look
9:17
at printed dates on stuff we know that
9:19
that was printed in July. I don't know
9:22
if this was July looking at full coat
9:25
woman over here with her sweater on
9:27
>> this one. Another lady on and then Yeah.
9:30
>> And the tree is the tree doesn't Yeah.
9:32
for the summer time.
9:34
>> But I would say this no Christmas
9:36
decorations. So this is October, January
9:40
maybe of of 59,
9:43
maybe April. I mean, it could be early
9:45
602, couldn't it? Yeah. Yeah. Or Yeah.
9:47
Or 60.
9:50
>> Yeah. Um
9:52
>> that's fascinating. But watching
9:54
standing on the grass
9:56
>> always great.
9:56
>> Well, and and even the glass grass
9:58
doesn't have that um full like if it was
10:02
June or July, that's usually when grass
10:04
down here is really like vibrant. I feel
10:06
like before August hits
10:08
>> and it and it gets killed. Um
10:11
>> that's really interesting. I also love
10:13
how
10:14
>> like serious she is about this this
10:17
picture.
10:18
>> Oh yeah. Like her her pose is clearly
10:22
like this is my shot and I'm going to
10:24
take it seriously and not mess this up.
10:27
Um how fun is that?
10:30
And then we get the a beautiful shot of
10:32
the of most of the castle. Not the top
10:34
of the castle, but most of the castle in
10:36
the background.
10:36
>> Mhm.
10:40
>> But yeah, this one's this one.
10:42
>> It's interesting also seeing the castle
10:44
before so much has been added and built
10:46
in and around it
10:48
>> because it does feel a little bit more
10:50
substantial and the force perspective I
10:53
think works a little bit better.
10:55
>> Right. Looking at it in this, right?
10:57
Because there's nothing down here.
11:00
Yeah.
11:03
because we're basically there's a tree
11:06
close to where that tree is still.
11:08
>> Yeah.
11:09
>> Um I think it's further it's further
11:11
towards Main Street perhap or the the
11:13
hub I I think. But it's there's
11:19
generally that one and then over where
11:20
this walkway on the left is. It looks to
11:23
me like that's basically where the the
11:26
little wedding garden thing is now.
11:29
I mean, I've done interviews there, like
11:32
with the Disneyland Ambassadors
11:33
recently,
11:35
huh,
11:36
that's that's interesting to see this
11:38
part of of the
11:40
area in front of the castle. I like it.
11:44
All right, the next thing we wouldn't
11:46
see at Disneyland today. Let me Oh, hang
11:49
on. I got to scroll all the way back
11:52
out.
11:53
You know, we did make the the joke about
11:55
live grass. Um, oh yeah,
11:59
it's like I guess there's a little bit
12:00
of live grass still found in the park.
12:03
So, I've got three photos here. What is
12:06
What is something that we don't do
12:08
anymore here?
12:11
So, we have this photo.
12:12
>> Um, well, that looks like you're exiting
12:14
where we enter now.
12:15
>> Correct.
12:17
And and the other thing that we don't do
12:19
in this picture is if you were to look
12:21
down in the corner, we cannot walk to
12:24
Toontown or That true that Yeah. I'm
12:27
like I'm like that's a little bit
12:29
different now, too. Um,
12:32
wow, that's fun.
12:34
>> Yeah. So, I've got three photos. I've
12:35
got this one from 1975.
12:37
>> I've got this photo from looks like
12:40
this.
12:40
>> Oh, that's pretty. Yeah, I like this
12:42
photo a lot. Again, where we can see the
12:43
guest walking in with the with the round
12:46
garbage can. There's our first garbage
12:47
can.
12:49
>> And I half expect to see like Annette
12:51
Fuchell walk out into this picture,
12:54
right? And then the uh the old the old
12:58
uh cover like the basic I guess you
13:01
should say approach to the uh the
13:03
control towers, right? And then also and
13:06
the old uh costumes too. The striped
13:08
Yeah. the the boat
13:10
>> the uh gondelier outfits and the old
13:13
queue area that was covered.
13:15
So now that you're exiting out this way,
13:17
which now you're exiting out to a to a
13:20
dead end and then walking back across
13:24
>> and then this is the third photo. Again,
13:26
this with everyone walking down. This is
13:28
from the 1970s because of the blue
13:31
>> look that they added to Small World for
13:33
that for those handful of years.
13:36
>> So I looked up, this is the one research
13:38
I did. I looked up when did we switch?
13:41
>> Oh, when to blue.
13:42
>> No, no, no, not not switch to blue. When
13:43
did we switch to entering the opposite
13:46
way?
13:47
>> What year was that? It was 1991 when
13:51
Mattel took over and they added the gift
13:54
shop. That totally makes sense. I can
13:58
remember it changing as a kid and it
14:01
being a big deal to my dad. I think like
14:04
somebody in our family was like, "Oh,
14:06
they changed it." And I was kind of
14:08
like, "Okay, what's going on? I'm still
14:10
getting on the same
14:11
>> still going in the same direction.
14:14
But it is funny how
14:17
it would be interesting to have heard
14:19
the thought process of the original Q,
14:21
which I'm sure is a walking in where you
14:25
see it kind of a thing versus when they
14:27
switched it in ' 91, right?
14:30
>> And then going around it.
14:31
>> And and it is interesting looking at
14:32
this one and looking at walking back and
14:35
around
14:36
how I mean that is walking into a dead
14:38
end or or walking into the parade route.
14:42
The thing it does also though, I mean
14:44
it's not as since I guess it'd be
14:47
lightning lane now, but uh reversing
14:51
this
14:52
would actually put more people
14:54
consistently
14:56
like a wall of people always in front of
14:58
the attraction versus this you would
15:00
have little bits of opening. I guess you
15:02
could I don't know. It'd be interesting
15:05
to hear that that thought process. I do
15:08
see why you'd want to have more queue
15:09
down at the end, which they get by
15:11
reversing it and being able to add a
15:13
gift shop at the exit, which Disney
15:14
loves to do. Got to get that gift shop
15:16
in. Well, and and and with it being
15:19
Mattel taking over as the sponsor, you
15:21
know, Bank of America, you weren't going
15:23
to have kids uh get checking accounts,
15:24
but Mattel, buy that toy.
15:27
>> Yeah, that's Yeah.
15:32
Huh. Yeah, that's fun. Also, they're
15:34
they're sending out an empty boat here.
15:37
Shame on them. Well, or it's not that
15:39
busy.
15:41
That's That's possible.
15:43
Yeah. Wow. 975.
15:48
That is very fun. That one's Yeah. All
15:50
All three of these are fun. It's just
15:52
good to get the different perspectives
15:53
on it. And also this, you know, you're
15:55
right. Not seeing the no trains. No
15:58
train station over here. No,
16:01
I mean it almost puts you in a different
16:03
place like because it really does
16:08
build that burm around the outside cuz
16:10
it really it looks like you're in the
16:13
middle of the woods or something in this
16:15
picture.
16:15
>> Yeah.
16:17
>> And even in that last picture, I think
16:18
it did too back where it was looking
16:20
toward Yeah. this photo
16:22
>> because
16:23
>> you can kind of see through that a
16:26
little bit now. And I do like that you
16:28
can see the Montreal. It looks like over
16:30
on the left. Yeah, the Montreal track
16:32
over here. I don't know what this is.
16:34
Oh, yeah. Over on the right, too. Oh.
16:36
Oh, yeah.
16:38
Monreal track. People mover maybe going
16:41
by. I don't know if people out that far.
16:43
I don't Did it go back that far? I don't
16:46
think it went back that far. I'll bring
16:49
it back and I'll look. Maybe it's I
16:51
wonder if it's the Yeah, right. I wonder
16:54
if it's the Montreal going in the first
16:56
loop. Could be.
16:59
>> Yeah, but Yeah, that's definitely,
17:01
>> you know. Yeah.
17:05
>> All right.
17:06
>> Yeah. And then and then and then blue
17:08
with the gold shining. Yeah.
17:11
>> In the late afternoon, it looks like.
17:13
And it's funny, too, looking at the
17:16
outfit changes as we go through.
17:18
>> Oh, yeah.
17:19
>> Just from the, you know, it's it's all
17:20
within what 10, 15 years. And uh let's
17:24
see. Do I have a year on this one? In 10
17:27
years, probably. Huh.
17:28
>> Don't have a year on this one.
17:30
>> Okay.
17:31
>> But but this is definitely This is
17:33
definitely 60s in the summer. M maybe
17:35
early '7s. Yeah. There's a guy in a tank
17:37
top. Tank tops always make me think 70s.
17:40
And this is
17:42
>> This fashion's too too much to be 80s.
17:45
This would definitely be 70s.
17:47
Yeah.
17:50
And it's the old boats, too, before they
17:53
they put in the uh
17:56
I don't even know what the new ones are
17:57
made out of, but they they always remind
17:59
me of like little toy boats now that you
18:02
can't sink in a million years.
18:04
>> Uh you just keep push down. This guy in
18:06
a tank top again.
18:07
>> Great. Uh-huh.
18:10
>> But this one just my instinct the
18:13
fashion in this one looks closer to the
18:16
80s than the previous one.
18:18
>> Right. This and this would have been
18:19
late 70s because they did this in like
18:21
70. Yes.
18:27
>> All right. Look at all of the ladies in
18:28
hats, too. Like they all have these
18:30
bonnets on. There's two and you can
18:32
almost say three with that with that
18:34
weird
18:34
>> bucket hat thing.
18:36
>> Yeah.
18:38
>> Huh.
18:40
That is very cool. And then and this one
18:43
something you would see is you would
18:46
never see a a a character sitting down.
18:51
A character sitting down an entirely
18:53
empty background. Like there is nobody
18:56
other than the three of them in this
18:58
picture.
19:00
And if I'm looking correctly, this this
19:02
is the Matterhorn right here.
19:04
>> That's what I was guessing too.
19:07
>> But yeah, but no one walking back there
19:09
at all.
19:11
I mean, this almost to me looks
19:17
cuz the back is a little It looks like
19:19
it's morning, right?
19:22
>> Yeah. Look there. You can see a tiny bit
19:24
of the shadow at the underneath Goofy's
19:26
feet um from the Okay, so that's
19:30
mourning. I almost wonder if this was
19:32
before park opened and that person
19:35
either was connected with the park or
19:37
worked in the park or a family member or
19:39
something.
19:41
Maybe I I don't know. I don't know
19:44
either. I The only reason I'm even
19:46
remotely thinking it is the fact that
19:48
the entire area is empty. It's morning.
19:51
You got two characters to yourself,
19:53
right?
19:56
Having a break. I love interest. Right.
20:00
Uh well, or just a casual. Yeah.
20:04
>> Yeah. Somebody's mom, wife, whatever,
20:07
girlfriend. Um the other interesting
20:10
thing about this picture, look at the
20:12
ground. Oh, the the red carpet. Yeah.
20:17
Like that's that's interesting as well.
20:19
And I'm also Can you tell what's in the
20:22
back corner over Goofy's shoulder? Like
20:25
way Yep. There you go.
20:27
>> I'm I'm not sure what that is. It's It's
20:29
out of focus. I'm trying to think what
20:31
would be there
20:35
cuz what I cuz it's kind of
20:38
cuz we don't see the um house of the
20:41
future, but that may be over here a bit
20:44
more than that,
20:48
wouldn't it? That would be Yeah, but I
20:52
mean But it could just be out of the out
20:53
of the shot.
20:57
Yeah, that's weird. I don't have any.
21:00
I got this. Yeah.
21:03
>> It's also interesting in all these
21:04
pictures how like Pluto I think has in
21:08
some ways as a character in the park
21:11
evolved more than
21:14
Goofy. Like Goofy looks maybe his
21:17
outfit's been updated a little bit, but
21:18
he looks pretty much
21:21
what you see. And then like Goofy's
21:23
mouth and is closed in this. It looks
21:26
like his eyes are different.
21:29
>> Maybe Goofy's eyes are different, too.
21:31
>> Pluto, you mean?
21:33
>> Yeah.
21:33
>> Yeah.
21:35
>> And his I think his ears are longer,
21:37
too. Probably. Trying to think.
21:39
Actually, I bet both of their ears.
21:40
>> Yeah. Yeah. You look Look If you look at
21:42
the length on Goofy's ear, it's it's
21:44
almost hitting his elbow.
21:46
>> Uhhuh. That that that almost would be
21:48
dangerous now because people just walk
21:50
up and just pull.
21:52
>> Mhm.
21:56
And I think you can see the Montreal,
21:58
the rail actually in the background on
22:00
the front of the something I noticed
22:02
that looking at photos and postcards of
22:04
the Montreal, you don't realize how low
22:06
the Montreal would go next to the um
22:09
Matterhorn
22:11
>> that
22:11
>> it it looks low, but when when you're
22:14
actually there, it's it's much higher,
22:15
but the maybe it's a force perspective.
22:18
I don't know. But it's definitely a
22:20
change. Well, don't you also because if
22:23
you think about uh the parade route
22:25
there, it's going up the hill, right, to
22:28
go from main street level, I'm going to
22:30
call it, to small world level. And and I
22:34
have a feeling part of that is bringing
22:36
it back into
22:38
>> the Tomorrowland level, which is closer
22:41
to main street level. So, it has to be
22:43
closer to the ground as it's going over
22:45
the hill,
22:46
>> right?
22:47
And that's probably that's not the
22:50
highest part of the hill, but um I
22:52
actually think the front of like kind of
22:54
by where you enter the Montreal or Mad
22:58
Tea Party seems like that's the highest
22:59
part of the hill, right?
23:04
That's an interesting thing. Also, is
23:05
that a uh take a photo here sign also in
23:08
the back corner? Oh, that is exactly
23:11
what that is.
23:15
I just suddenly was like, "Wait a
23:16
minute. I know what that is." I just saw
23:19
another one of these in another photo
23:21
and I realized that they would do the
23:22
same thing that we have now, which is
23:24
like, "Oh, this is what your photo
23:24
should look like if you take a photo
23:26
here."
23:26
>> Mhm.
23:27
>> Um that's literally what clued me into
23:29
it. I was like, "Wait, this is the
23:31
thing." Yeah. That's the little photo
23:32
nick guy and the And I mean, we we do
23:36
have to do a photo nick adventure
23:37
someday where we go to each one of those
23:39
and take our picture as the the photo
23:42
was intended. Exactly as intended. Same
23:44
people, everything. Ex.
23:45
>> Yeah. Well, no. Be us recreating their
23:49
shot as close as we can.
23:53
And And like if if we have like if
23:55
there's a third person in the picture,
23:57
we'll just have Katie like kneel in
23:59
front of us as the kid,
24:00
>> right?
24:01
>> And
24:02
we'll just grab the kid. We'll just grab
24:04
a random like come here, kid. You don't
24:07
>> you don't mind if we put you on the
24:08
internet, right? Um, that to me that
24:11
sounds that sounds like a uh photo
24:12
Nick's DAPS quest.
24:15
>> That could be that could be a very fun
24:17
video. Or uh we could even do a live
24:19
podcast of it. Like like when we've done
24:22
the other ones like we're due for
24:24
another one of those someday soon,
24:27
>> I think as we brainstorm on the air. Get
24:30
me those photos at some point. Let me
24:33
see if I can find an old photo that
24:34
looks like the photo they want you to
24:36
take now.
24:38
Oh, I like that. That'd be fun, too.
24:40
>> Yeah. That way, that way it's not just
24:43
us taking photos that some other photo
24:45
nicks, you know, 50 years from now will
24:47
talk about.
24:50
>> You never know, right? It could be us
24:52
talking about ourselves in 50 years.
24:56
>> Yeah. You know, like anything is
24:57
possible.
24:58
>> Yeah.
24:59
>> Huh.
25:01
And this is how it always works.
25:03
>> All right.
25:04
>> All right. So, was that all of all of
25:05
the photos?
25:06
>> That is all. I like zoom back out. That
25:08
is all of the photos. So now we have to
25:11
pick one.
25:12
>> Yep.
25:14
>> Oh man,
25:16
always the hard part. Scrolling through.
25:19
>> That's a good one. That's a Oh, that's a
25:21
good one, too.
25:22
>> That's a great one.
25:25
Um, and that one's good, too, just
25:28
because it it really does transport you
25:30
to a different time in some ways more
25:32
than any of the other ones. and to your
25:34
car. But I'm gonna
25:36
>> and to your car, which is going to take
25:38
you home. Um, which we didn't talk about
25:42
this at the beginning, but this looks
25:44
like it must be later in the day based
25:47
on the shadow, right?
25:50
But even in 59, the park would close at
25:54
like six o'clock.
25:56
Yeah. So, yeah. So,
26:00
there you go. People could be they might
26:02
actually be going home, not getting off.
26:03
I think I'm gonna go with this one.
26:05
>> Yeah, this one. This one's hard.
26:07
>> I love the Pluto walking through. I love
26:09
the guy super excited in the front right
26:11
corner out of focus.
26:13
>> Like he's fun. The outfits are
26:15
fantastic. Like there's a dress that you
26:19
can just barely see part of it that
26:20
reminds me of like a handkerchief.
26:22
>> Oh, this one. Yeah.
26:24
>> Yeah, that one. And um
26:27
and I just love like there's something
26:30
to be said for the old hairstyles in
26:32
this picture too, right? Like the
26:34
sllickedback men, the fancy whatever
26:37
with the ladies,
26:43
dress shoes in the parks, you know,
26:45
usually it's just us that are crazy
26:46
enough to do that. Now, back then it was
26:49
everybody.
26:53
Yeah. There's something so I don't know
26:55
if the word is wholesome but there's
26:57
something very unique about that era
27:00
like the early area eras with the colors
27:03
and the simplicity and how open things
27:06
were. I love it. All right, your turn. I
27:08
think I'll go with now knowing that
27:09
there's the photo nick sign back there.
27:11
The uh photo I've always liked this one
27:13
anyway because I just go you you would
27:16
the only character that you would see
27:18
sitting down ever
27:20
>> would be Mad Hatter during a game,
27:23
right?
27:24
or or maybe Alice during the same game
27:27
maybe. And and Jack Sparrow for comedic
27:31
purposes only.
27:32
>> Other than that, every you you would
27:34
never see a character have a seat. You
27:36
just you just don't see like you don't
27:38
even see them. You remember years ago
27:40
when you'd see uh
27:42
>> like Mary Poppins and Bert and other
27:44
characters doing um Duck Duck Goose.
27:48
>> Oh yeah. and and you and so they would
27:51
sit on the ground for that. You know,
27:52
Alice and and other like even
27:54
Cinderella, I remember doing that. Like
27:55
there'd be all sorts of different
27:56
characters playing, but you just don't
27:58
see that kind of stuff really anymore.
28:00
And I wish those are the kind of things
28:02
I actually wish they'd bring back. Um, I
28:06
have seen them do charades, too, like
28:08
Peter Pan and and Alice and Hatter, and
28:11
they'll sit on the chairs uh over by the
28:15
>> uh the old uh
28:18
>> behind uh where you get the the turkeys.
28:21
Uh the old motorboat.
28:22
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The old do that
28:24
down there.
28:25
>> No, I just remembered I saw a character
28:28
sit down one time. Japetto sat down with
28:30
me while I was in between Tomorrowland
28:33
and Fantasy Land in in the in the castle
28:35
but by the wishing well. I was sitting
28:37
down and Japetto Japetto had a seat for
28:39
comedic purposes only and sat there like
28:42
yeah what's going on?
28:43
>> Yeah.
28:44
>> What's what's And I love I love those
28:46
moments like it's
28:47
>> it's when it's telling the story and
28:49
it's part of the experience. I think
28:50
it's great and uh it's a whole lot of
28:53
fun to see and I'm glad they
28:55
occasionally have those those little
28:57
moments still. And I would love more of
28:59
them, but we would never see this. Like
29:01
this might be the most anomalous picture
29:04
of all of them today.
29:05
>> Well, ladies standing on grass.
29:10
>> Yeah.
29:11
Just the ability to even get into it.
29:15
>> Mhm. There's no fences. I mean, the
29:17
other crazy part that we didn't talk
29:19
about either is you could literally trip
29:21
and fall into the moat
29:23
>> very easily.
29:24
>> Like a kid running didn't stop. Like
29:28
it'd be great. I I wonder how many mo
29:30
how many moat accidents they had. I
29:32
mean, the moat wasn't deep, so it wasn't
29:34
going to be a big deal, but I wonder how
29:35
many
29:37
running falls
29:38
>> or or just a random kid was like, "Oh,
29:41
this looks like fun." You know, like I
29:42
don't know. Let me go grab that frog.
29:45
>> Mhm.
29:47
>> Geese are your friends, right? Right.
29:49
How about swans? Swans even better.
29:53
Ducks. Yeah. All right. Well, this has
29:56
been a lot of fun and we hope you've
29:58
enjoyed this as well. Uh, if you haven't
30:01
done so yet, please subscribe, please
30:03
rate this podcast, share it with your
30:06
friends, and what else do we do? Clocky,
30:09
>> like, subscribe, share, comment.
30:13
>> Uh, yes, if you want us to look at
30:14
something specific, we're always I'm
30:16
always looking for ideas. Send ideas
30:18
along. We will try to look at something.
30:20
If there's something you want, if
30:21
there's a guest you would like on, let
30:22
us know. I know we've got uh one that
30:25
will be potentially lining up for June
30:26
and uh some more fun happening.
30:28
Obviously, March is
30:30
>> coming up soon.
30:31
>> So, we'll have uh some fun times in
30:33
March and then
30:35
>> yeah, plenty of photos to to still look
30:37
at
30:39
>> and you can find some more photos over
30:41
on the Instagram where the Photo Nix
30:44
podcast can be found as well. And we
30:47
have links for that in the description
30:48
so you won't want to miss it. But thanks
30:51
for photo nicking with us. Hope you're
30:53
having a fantastic day. We look forward
30:55
to doing again with you really soon. And
30:57
uh guess we'll see you in the parks.
30:58
Yeah. And please no flash photography on
31:00
dark rides.
31:03
Fair.
31:23
Photo X.
