Welcome to Geeks Corner. I'm Mr. Daps. I'm Katie. And did you know that the button's not
0:23
working? There we go. That John Cles was considered to voice Slinky in Toy Story
0:30
during the development phase. You know, I did not know that. That completely changes the movie. Like
0:36
you start thinking of the Well, think about it. Yeah, I'm thinking like John Cles is Q, John Cles is Monty
0:44
Python, all of that stuff. Like that's a completely different like I can't imagine taking the same approach to
0:50
Slinky that they took if it was John Cles, which is probably why he didn't end up doing it. That's probably true.
0:55
It is interesting when you start thinking of the choices that they made on character
1:01
voices in different movies. If they just made slightly different like let's say they even switched Woody and Buzz.
1:09
That's true. Like it dramatically changes the personalities of the characters. You know who Slinky Dog should have
1:15
been? Peter Faulk. No. Although I could see Mr. Potato
1:21
Head. Mr. Potato Head absolutely could be Peter Faulk. One more thing.
1:27
Um what should people do, Katie? Uh you should go to wherever you are. You should go into the chat.
1:34
Um, we have a a thing at the end called comments comments. You should subscribe to us. Wherever you are, hopefully
1:41
that's here, but who's to say? Uh, and also go to dabsmagic.com/dapshq.
1:48
We have a post show to this show. Uh, there's also a secret option that you
1:54
might not know about just quite yet on this show that our DAPs HQ members got
1:59
to be a part of. So, Oh, yes. They got double votes if they chose to use them. All right. Well,
2:05
tonight is the which way should we go episode of Geeks Corner, which means you get to choose what we are going to talk
2:11
about. And as we go through the show leading up to comments, comments at the end, we are going to let you choose what
2:17
you would like to hear us discuss. So, the first thing you get to choose from by putting either a plus or an and and
2:24
sign in the comments is, would you like us to talk about my meeting with Thomas
2:29
Masloom, who is the president of the Disneyland Resort, which I spent about four and a half hours, I think, on
2:36
Thursday with him, or would you rather hear us talk about the Disney adventure
2:41
arriving in Tokyo, which was basically last night or today if you were um in
2:49
the United States? I Okay, so we have an and I already see hopping up. Oh, and I was gonna say plus
2:55
you never I don't get to say I'm on the show. You can vote. I do. I get to vote. Everybody but me can vote cuz I put it
3:00
together. So I feel like like it's it's and if you voted in uh DPS Magic HQ,
3:08
then that actually you can vote twice, which is a perk. And we'll do this again if it works. Okay, we got two pluses
3:15
plus the plus in uh Daps Magic HQ. We're getting we're getting some traction
3:21
going here. It looks like Oh, this is this is like All right. So, this is the trick with this.
3:27
What? If we're going to talk about this because you weren't there, you have to ask the questions.
3:33
Oh, no. This is the weird moment where I have to like become the interviewee instead of
3:39
the interviewer, which is usually my Okay, this this is a runaway. I'm seeing
3:44
lots of pluses. Sorry, Chris. Um, I will talk to you about uh Disney Adventure the next time we hang out. I promise.
3:51
Um, there's no losers here at Geeks Corner. There's just not first. So, what would you like to know?
3:58
So, what was your general takeaway from your meeting with Thomas? First off, I will say this was all off
4:03
the or not off the record, this was all uh on background, so I can't give any
4:08
specifics about who said what during uh No. What was your general takeway? But my big takeaway is there's a vision for
4:15
the Disneyland Resort that's much bigger than we've had in previous years. Like much much bigger. Like instead of
4:23
one decade or two decades, we're looking at seven decades. Like there's a really big picture thing happening. Um two, I think
4:30
there's a huge focus on hospitality that I think is very important. And for those
4:36
that have been around for the last six years, I think we've seen ups and
4:42
downs with that. And there's a definite focus that comes from the top of making
4:47
sure they get hospitality right. And with that, my flip side is like I kind
4:53
of hope that he doesn't get promoted to Disney Experiences chairman. Yeah. Because I want to keep that focus local
5:00
because I do think it's very important for the future of the Disneyland Resort. And uh let's see three.
5:06
Um I think the hospitality thing is being applied in ways that you wouldn't
5:11
traditionally ex expect. Okay. So yes, there's the hospitality of guest
5:18
interactions of magical moments, but there's also the the the hospitality
5:23
portion being taken into account of like how can we make the visit to the Disneyland Resort simpler? How can we
5:31
make sure that guests can get on more attractions through maintaining um
5:37
maintaining our attractions or being proactive with things that we know they're going to need or even something
5:43
as as kind of out of the box as like supply chains for attractions, their
5:50
individual, you know, wheels or what, you know, like making sure that they have the things
5:56
that not only are needed for regular maintenance but also for the the surprise maintenance moments. And uh I
6:04
think all of that is needed. And I think it's also interesting because we're seeing this across multiple companies.
6:11
It's not just Disney that's like, "Hey, we need to get back to the basics." And Disney's basics are telling stories in a
6:19
way that makes people feel like they're wanted to be there. Mhm. Like there's the hospitality component,
6:25
but it's not just, hey, you're in this really fun, nice place. You're also experiencing and being a
6:32
part of the story. And so, um, that's that's the Disney difference. And I
6:38
don't think I heard the word Disney difference. Um, but that was the general
6:44
thing that was coming out of this is like, oh, the Disney difference is important again. And I think that got lost along the way a little bit because
6:50
of world events and pandemics and oh we actually need people to just show up and
6:57
work, you know, like there was a lot of things that kind of took away from that. Any other questions with this? My follow-up question, what do we have
7:04
in the coming space to look forward to at the Disneyland Resort? So you've got the uh Monsters Inc. Mike
7:11
and Sullie to the rescue is staying around for another year. And really that comes down to a bigger picture focus on
7:19
how can they make the Disneyland Resort more accessible for young families. Um
7:24
not just families, but young families. And I think that had also been kind of lost along the way of like, oh, let's go
7:30
with more adventurous rides. Let's go for higher thrill rides, you know, whatever it is. And I think
7:37
maybe it wasn't one of those like it wasn't an intentional slight and I don't even know if it was an a slight
7:44
completely but I do think that when you focus on trying to compete with other companies that in my opinion are
7:50
inferior you kind of lose your focus on like at the end of the day Disney has
7:56
always been about families and you know think about the origin of Disneyland.
8:01
It's Walt wanting to be able to hang out with his daughters and having a an entertainment enterprise that that you
8:06
could go and do these do these things. And um and so I think what we initially
8:12
have to look forward to is we have you know Monsters Inc. we have the Blueies Best Day Ever coming to Fantasy Land
8:19
Theater which is that going to be for me and you like we're gonna enjoy it but is it focused at us? No.
8:25
I have a Bluey sweatshirt. What are you talking about? I know, but like it's it's not
8:30
Bluey and Bingo are for me. The target for Bluey is not us. We're just a happy
8:37
we are a happy second level that enjoys it also. Yes. And and so I think you have these things
8:44
that changes the way that Disney has traditionally done entertainment. So
8:50
maybe instead of a Mickey and the Magical Map, you now have Bluey's Best Day Ever. Maybe instead of, you know,
8:57
Aladdin the musical, you have Viva Nabi Dodd. And they're really making an effort to make entertainment accessible,
9:05
something that that kids can kind of be immersed into and you can really feel like you're a part of as opposed to
9:12
being passive and watching. And uh that's kind of actually probably a
9:17
bigger change than we've realized because it does fundamentally change the
9:23
approach of Disneyland Resorts um entertainment strategy because it is
9:29
more about being immersive. It is about connecting and having memorable magical
9:34
moments as opposed to being oh this is the best stage show ever. Mhm. And and when you think about this from a
9:40
bigger picture in a hospitality standpoint, most of the magical moments that you have when you go to Disneyland
9:46
or Walt Disney World or whatever theme park of your choice or or I guess cruise ship,
9:52
most of the moments that you bring back with you though that you you have as a core memory are often connected with a
9:59
personal experience. It's not I saw this really great show. It's a maybe during
10:05
this show this one little thing happened where I connected with a performer or maybe it's I was at a a spot in the
10:12
Disneyland Resort and this cast member turned this really terrible experience into this really amazing experience or
10:18
maybe this one um princess decided to take a little bit more time with with my
10:25
kid and make it a magical moment. And and so I think Disney has really leaned into the connection component and by
10:33
Disney I mean Disneyland Resort because that's what this was covering. And so I think Thomas Masloom has really honed in
10:41
on if we can make magical moments by interpersonal connections,
10:46
we can make a more hospitalitable environment. We can up our guest satisfaction rate. And then at the end
10:53
of the day, this is a business. we can improve the business of the Disneyland Resort and and that's important because
10:58
as much as we like to think that Disneyland is a place that we just go and enjoy and
11:04
and it's magic and you know fairies and pixie dust. Yeah. It's also a business and if the business
11:11
doesn't go well the park does not stay there. And and that's something to keep
11:16
in mind is as Disney fans because as much as we like things the way we like them, um we also need to always be
11:22
looking to the future of like well our future generations going to like them, our current younger
11:28
generation's going to like them. And and so one of the things that they talked about for a focus for the business was
11:35
that they're really focused on keeping current guests happy, keeping future guests or like keeping future guests
11:41
funneling in, and then also the glue that holds all of that together as cast members. And I think when you nail those
11:47
three demographics, um the future of the Disneyland Resort looks really awesome. All right, we're already halfway through
11:53
the show, so well, third of the way, but yes. Should we head on to the second? I I think we sure should.
11:59
Okay. Um, just to answer Chris's question, keys did not directly come up because it was a bit of a
12:07
a more magic keys or the five keys. Magic Keys did come up.
12:13
I was like, we could go into maybe we'll do I mean, if there was enough interest, we could
12:19
do a Adapt Magic HQ Q&A, I think. But, um,
12:25
I'm I'm thinking the five keys is probably what Chris means. And I think it was the conversation was a little bit
12:31
higher than that other than the Q&A portion of it. And so it was really more about concepts and connecting than
12:39
specifics. And there were stories told, but it was it was a little bit more of a
12:44
bigger picture conversation. Right. Beautiful. All right. Number two for you to vote
12:49
on. Do you want us to talk about the Toy Story 5 trailer? Vote with a pound sign.
12:55
Or Anaheim Ducks Day. vote with the at sign. Is that the at sign? At
13:00
at Yeah. Um, we we have seen and experienced both of these.
13:05
Yeah, we sure are. They were very definitely definitely different. Five keys and five magic key tiers. Uh,
13:12
yeah. So, I'm going to say I'm going to say at Okay, we got
13:17
Chris, I'm so sorry. I feel like I see I'm kind of I'm not voting against
13:22
you. I'm not gonna say what I'm leaning toward. Your vote. Uh so magic keys we did talk
13:28
about I I will save that actually if you go listen to my podcast on DAPS magic Disney and positive stuff. You can hear
13:35
uh a little bit more of the specifics about this uh Toy Story. Toy Story. We
13:40
have an already vote for Toy Story and one for Anaheim Duck Days. Another It looks like Toy Story is winning to me.
13:46
What was the double vote in uh Toy Story? Okay. Yeah. Uh I'm pretty sure. Let me check.
13:52
Uh uh. Yep. Toy Story was the vote. So, we're gonna like this is this clearly
13:59
actually it's closer than I thought it would be. So, the Toy Story 5 trailer came out this week and of course it was
14:06
while I was driving to an undisclosed location in Burbank that I'm not allowed to talk about because it was completely off the record. And um but if you were
14:13
to go to Flower Street, you might figure out where I was at. Um I didn't say anything. I just gave
14:19
hints. But Toy Story 5 trailer came out. We have watched it. Yeah.
14:24
What did you think of it? Looks better than Toy Story 4.
14:30
Yes. But what did you think of it for real, right? Well, yes. As a standalone movie. What? I'm excited to Well, you can't take it
14:36
as a standalone. First of all, I'm excited to see The Gang Back Together. I'm excited to see Woody and Buzz and
14:41
Jesse. Every time I hear The Gang Back Together, I think of Solo: A Star Wars. Meanwhile, all I think of is um Phineas
14:50
and Ferb. Dude, we're getting the band back together. Yeah, that's that's fair. Also, do you Anyway, um I'm very excited. I
14:58
think that this feels more true to the characters. It feels like we're seeing
15:03
like to me there was almost that moving truck moment of Woody and Buzz totally
15:09
getting off the wedding uh moving truck moment. Yeah. Um, which to me is like
15:14
core childhood memory of um like Toy Story the original
15:20
and that moving truck scene. Um, also Toy Story 2 and the there's a Toy Story
15:26
one the the fast food boxes with the Oh, yeah. That's a cute moment. Yeah. Okay. That's what I grew up on. Um,
15:35
leave me alone. Thank you, Ethan. No, I was laughing at a comment. But um I think that this feels more
15:41
promising. I also think that there's a bit of a red herring with the um
15:47
technology piece because I think that Do you think it's going to be like Toy
15:52
Story 3 where the good guys the the bad guy or you know it's like well yeah or the bad guys is the good
15:57
guy or whatever. Yeah. Whatever. because um I think that technology especially
16:03
now has its uses and there's actually positive things that can happen out of
16:08
technology. Um I mean I feel like with this movie at the end of the day they all have to come together and be like oh we're all friends and we can live harmoniously
16:15
cuz there's people that use technology for like communication devices and things like that. Like I don't think
16:20
that the end all beall is that technology is evil. Okay. I think it's going to balance creativity
16:25
and technology. Um, but I did think I I quoted it in the article um that I wrote
16:31
about the trailer. Um, Woody says something along the lines of like toys are for playtime or toys are play things
16:39
and technology is everything. And I do think that that is a very interesting
16:45
direction. So, I'm going to actually pull in a conversation that was had
16:50
at the previous event. So, the Disneyland President event is we had a conversation that I actually
16:56
thought was very interesting about how to balance screens,
17:03
okay, with what's live in front of you. Okay. And there's a definite conversation happening right now of of experiencing
17:11
Disneyland Resort in screens and being stuck to the app versus experiencing
17:17
with your family and friends what's right in front of you. I kind of think this is Toy Story F or four.
17:22
Yeah. And I think there's four. Five. Yes. Yes. Four is Woody breaks up with his
17:28
correct. But um but I definitely see the correlations there of I think we're
17:34
still figuring out what that healthy balance is. And one of the things that
17:41
was brought up is as much as people love being able to access everything through
17:46
their their phones and whatnot, families also come to Disneyland to be
17:52
with each other, to experience things together, to look at things together, to to be in that burm, to be connected with
17:58
each other. And even thinking of DAPS HQ last week, if you'll pass me that. Um, during DAPS
18:06
HQ last week, I built this lovely shuttle and there's something to be said
18:11
for the physicality and the experience of something that's real and not digital
18:17
and that you can play with. And this might go on the wall if I can figure out how, like, you know, like we might put
18:22
it up there. But, um, and that was my Valentine's Day gift, ladies and gentlemen. I think there's a
18:28
a definite uh I don't know if discussion is the word
18:34
or balancing act or whatever is what's the
18:42
what is that correct level of screens versus practicality
18:49
and and even if you look at like what they just did with uh Frozen Ever After in Florida.
18:55
Yeah. They went from rear projected screen faces to oh no we're giving you physical audio animatronics. And it's an
19:04
interesting thing to see is because I do think a couple years ago as Bailey's mentioning it was all about screens and
19:12
digital and 3D and 3D virtual and augmented reality and all of
19:19
this stuff. And now there's definitely a shift to oh no I want tactile. I want real. I want to see this movie in front
19:25
of me like looking even the the Walt Disney and Magical Life. Yeah. Like I want the real
19:30
and and so it'll be interesting to see how this movie
19:36
because I think that's what this movie is going to be about is how does this movie approach it? How
19:41
does this movie um deal with it? And then the other thing
19:47
I'm questioning is how does this movie deal with aging toys? Mhm.
19:53
Um because even even LEGO is moving forward and adding, you know, their
19:58
smart whatever. I don't know what I think. I want to play with it first and see what I think. But um but like one of the
20:07
things I noticed, and this is just a practical production standpoint.
20:12
Woody and Jesse sound old. Wow. But I'm not This is not a complaint. This is just a their voices have clearly
20:20
aged since the last movie, especially Jesse, but also Woody. Like those were the two I noticed the most. And then
20:26
there's also new voices. But I was going to say leave Admiral Null out of this, but that's Incredibles. That's not
20:32
But like it's an interesting thing to think is like you can't keep going indefinitely with this. as much as
20:38
people would love like you really do have to
20:44
address mortality of toys or whatever it is and move it on to the next level. So, I'm curious with
20:49
that. That was actually what I walked out of the trailer thinking is like, oh, they really need to address what the
20:54
next level of toys is going to be, which is kind of what they started to do in Toy Story 2 with the sewing up Woody and so on. Again, hate to be the
21:03
timekeeper. Time to move on. All right, next. Move on. Do you want to talk about Olaf teaching
21:09
drawing with an O or Celebrate Gospel in case you can vote with a C?
21:16
I'm going to say C for Katie. Oh, you're going to go with Celebrate Gospel, huh? Versus No. So, so sorry. O.
21:23
I'm so sorry. I got so confused. I'm like I totally thought you were going to vote for O if I were putting
21:30
money on. I meant O. I'm so sorry. I got confused. It's okay. It's okay. Um, oh Chris,
21:39
um, you voted with the winning team last time. You know what? There's no winners and losers always here. We got two for C.
21:47
Um, we are tied currently. We need another vote. Um,
21:52
Katie's making What was the vote in P? Okay, so there it goes. So, we're back
21:58
to uh Olaf. So, I think this is an interesting story mainly because the
22:04
premise, okay, O is taking the lead, so we're going to stick with this. Olaf will be basically taking over the
22:10
animation academy and it'll be a animatronic or audio animatronic
22:16
in Disney's Yeah. Hollywood Studios. But you can only like
22:21
if this is remotely successful, you know, it's coming out here. And the
22:27
premise of this is is Olaf is leading this class, but he doesn't actually know
22:33
how to draw. So, he brings his friends in from Disney Animation and they're on the screen and they're a video and they
22:38
teach how to draw versus and he follows along or whatever. Um,
22:44
I have some thoughts on this. Can I Can I lead off on this one? Sure. I love the premise.
22:50
Okay. I think it's great to think of Olaf. Like, it's cute. It's an adorable story.
22:56
Yeah. Animatronic Olaf. Love it. Part I don't like.
23:03
There's not I would bring in a live artist with audio animatronic Olaf
23:10
as opposed to Eric Goldberg as as opposed to awesome trailer. Like phenomenal artists,
23:16
legends, but you need timing to work with the people
23:22
in the room. Mhm. A live action or live action. A live artist can do that.
23:28
Yeah. Um you need to have that human connection for repeatability.
23:33
And then I also just think there's a
23:39
organicness that comes with art that
23:45
you know classes change how they do it each time. And I think when I've watched them on
23:50
Disney Plus or or YouTube where they've done similar things, I'm like, "You go
23:56
too fast." Or you go, "Okay." Because the artists here at Disney California Adventure are
24:02
pretty good at looking at the room and being like, and being like, "Oh, you guys are still figuring out how big an orange is." And
24:08
um it's true. We know, Daps. Um we know.
24:14
So I'm I'm I have mixed feelings about this. And I really do think you need the live artists. And I also think if for no
24:21
other reason to inspire young artists that want to become the guy on the stage or the girl on the stage,
24:28
you need to have that that possibility. Go ahead. We'll keep this short since we're running out of time.
24:33
Um I agree fully. Um I think that part of the fun of
24:39
um Animation Academy is like So here's everything you said. 100% agree. The
24:46
part that I love is at the end when the person who taught Yeah. You all
24:51
when you hold it up and they Yeah. You all hold it up and the person that taught the class is like, "Oh, I see
24:57
this and I see this." And like sure, it's kind of like a good night, Jimmy. Good night, Mr. Dabs. Good night,
25:04
Katy Bear. Like, yeah, but it makes you feel special. And it's And I will go back because I'm already
25:11
doing this. Sure. Let's go back to the original topic. It's all about human connection. You cannot have a communic human
25:18
connection with a video and an audio animatronic. And as much as I love going and seeing Abraham Lincoln and Walt
25:24
Disney in the audio animatronic form, there is not a human connection. And that at the end of the day is always
25:31
going to be the fault of those thing. And and I think that's always the strength of what they're doing with the
25:38
new uh entertainment strategy of immersion is there's human connection,
25:45
there's human moments, and there's also the variable of because it's human, you
25:50
don't entirely know what's going to happen. So I guarantee you with this Olaf approach, at some point
25:56
you will have experienced every version of it, which in Florida maybe is okay.
26:04
unless you're local. But like I I do think there's something to be said for
26:11
like I'm going to say the the Masloom effect or the Masloom era is I think you need to focus on that human approach and
26:18
that human touch and in I'm sure it's way too late to change things. But like
26:23
well and I'm thinking if I were in control I'd be like hey we need to make this more personal. And I'm
26:28
thinking of our friend Lindsay who goes in and she takes her iPad and she does Procreate for the animation,
26:35
which I've thought of doing since I saw she did it. That's very valid. Like I I'm not very good at it, so I
26:40
might as well be able to erase real quick. But that's something that you could also just as easily do at home if it's a
26:46
pre-recorded video. And and it's it's way more fun to have the artist engaged and like tracking and
26:54
it is a skill. And I I truly hope that at least at Disney California Adventure,
26:59
we get to keep our live artists. I think we will just because I think there's more Magic Key holders than
27:05
annual passholders going through that experience. How on earth would we do ducks day if we can't just draw random ducks?
27:12
Have to record Austin or Eric again. Um, all right. Last topic to choose from.
27:18
What would you prefer? Which way should we go? DCA Food and Wine. Vote with a D. Or Epcot Flower and Garden? vote with an
27:26
E. I had to come up with different ways to like make this easy to see in the
27:31
comments. So, um, let us know what you think. We do have a vote already. And I'm sure
27:37
after tonight, if we do this again, there will be more votes in Daps HQ because people are like, "Oh, I can
27:42
predetermine this." I really enjoy choose your adventure geeks corner. Oh, good. I'm glad.
27:48
Chris, are you just a contrarian? I will say I'm not against this. Uh E.
27:55
Another E. Okay. The thing is you're not against any of it. You made the order. You You determined the choices.
28:00
Yeah. But I try to be pretty unbiased when I'm picking things. D E. Oh my gosh. There's a lot of votes
28:06
for E. But there's two votes for D. There's three votes for E, which means D is currently tied, which means you get to
28:13
pick. Oh, D wins because Cassie just added. Thanks, Mom.
28:19
All right. Uh, we'll see if one more comes in as we're pulling. What were you gonna vote for?
28:25
I already said D. Oh, okay. So, that that's a double win. Okay. That's why I said thanks, Mom. All right. Disney California Adventure
28:31
Food and Wine Festival begins in about a week and a half. And
28:36
there's some interesting things on the menu this year which I my big picture
28:43
approach slashthought to this is they're trying to make things accessible
28:48
but they're also trying to make them interesting which is a very tight needle to thread. Like that's
28:55
that's a small needle to thread and I think they might have done it this year. Yeah. Um, what do you think of the menu
29:02
that we saw today come out with the food guide? What are you most looking forward to? And, um, how do you think they're
29:09
doing with food and wine? I'm personally most excited about uh, the entertainment. Two things. I love food and wine. So,
29:16
that's automatically super exciting. Um, the thing I'm most excited for, the
29:22
msubi fried rice. I'm so sorry. It's a repeat. Um, un I totally thought you were going to say
29:27
the other one. Okay, go ahead. Unfortunately, I dream of that msubi fried rice.
29:33
It was solid. It was so good. I love spam masubi. I love fried rice. I love spicy mayo.
29:41
All of that as Katie approved. The other thing that I think is very important to
29:46
touch on is I am a very picky eater.
29:52
Like you can attest to it. I've gotten a lot better in the last like 10 years that you've known me, but I'm not great.
30:00
This is accurate. Yeah, it baby steps. Yeah, thank you.
30:06
It's true. Like, it's it's baby steps. It's a process. I would have guessed 10 years ago that Brussels sprouts would be one of my
30:11
favorite food. Go ahead. What are you looking forward to? But no, like the that you haven't tried before. Oh, that I haven't tried before. Like I
30:18
am strangely intrigued by this this chicken and waffle mole taco. Like I
30:25
don't know what like to me this is the weirdest chicken mole is hit or miss for me.
30:31
That's where I'm intrigued by it. Like I'm like this could be the hit of the festival or maybe the worst thing we've
30:38
ever eaten. And then I think there was some like nachos or something too. Like the chicharó nachos.
30:44
Those also. And then also the ramen mac and cheese. Those are the three
30:49
say I'm with Johnny on the ramen mac and cheese. I love a mac. I love the mac moments at the booths. They're usually
30:55
fairly I'm just very confused by the thought of ramen mac and cheese. Noodle noodle cuz ramen mac noodle
31:04
noodle. So are they putting macaroni with ramen noodles and cheese? Like I I'm curious
31:10
how it makes it ramen. I just realized I never had the duck boki in lunar. It's fine. Um me
31:16
realizing I'm having like a mental breakdown. Too late now. I know. But um I I I don't I don't
31:24
actually know what's going on with the ramen mac and cheese. I But but that's why I want to try it. Those are two things I love.
31:32
Yeah, I love ramen. I love mac and cheese. That might end up being the hit of the
31:37
festival this year. I think it's also it's one of those things like the uh quesabidia egg rolls is it's like that
31:44
is the crossover where it takes something people are very comfortable with and it introduces a new flavor or
31:50
idea or what have you. I mean it's mac and cheese. How can go wrong? Your girl.
31:55
And there's some returning favorites that look really good, too. I just felt like they're returning so we can't hit them
32:01
too far. And we will be covering the opening day of this. So, uh, if you want it, we will do a sip and saver pass or
32:09
whatever we end up getting. If you guys insist, I'll eat stuff at food and wine. We will we will make a video and you can see firsthand reactions to what we're
32:16
doing. So brave for you guys. Um, but I'm looking forward to this. I'm looking forward to I kind of want to do
32:21
a one of the um demonstrations again this year
32:26
because they there's some fun ones at Soma Terrace. There's also the free ones over in Hollywood backlots that are a
32:32
lot of fun. Doing one. I don't know. I haven't looked yet. I love like that. That would be very fun. But I
32:38
think we should make some efforts to do some of the activities are coming along with there might be a certain band that
32:44
we really like returning a couple of times and we'll have news up on that when it becomes official and public,
32:50
you know. So, uh, be sure to subscribe to Dap's Magic for that so you don't miss any of that fun stuff as well.
32:56
I was just thinking everybody wants to be a cat. That is so weird. It's where it's at. All right, we
33:04
have reached that point in the show where it is time for
33:13
comments. Comments. That is right. It is time for comments.
33:19
If you have anything that you'd like us to respond to or you just like to say that you'd like us to read aloud, as
33:24
long as it's appropriate, now is your I was like, whoa, dabs. You know what? I was walking into that
33:30
and I'm like, hm, this could Boris. Yeah, Boris.
33:35
Did you just say Boris? I said Morris. Oh, okay. Um, was quoting Beauty and the Beast. Oh, I thought you were I was thinking
33:42
Radar Springs Racers. Slow down. You ain't racing yet. Yeah, that's where I was like, where did
33:47
this go? He came in here raving mad. Slow down. Yeah. Anyway,
33:53
not Morris. Um, anyway, now is your time for comments. We will
33:59
reply to them and it will be hopefully wonderful. Uh, thank you. Let us know
34:04
what you thought of this version, this format of Geeks Corner. If
34:10
you like it, let us know in the comments. We'll do it again. If you hate it, we will never bring it up and we'll pretend it never happened.
34:16
Um, you know, these things don't have to live on forever other than on the internet and on the playlist and on the
34:22
website and it's all on the internet. So that's fine. Nightmares. Sure, that too. But uh I do not see any
34:29
comments coming in. So we'll see if Indiana's currently knocked out.
34:35
There we go. Um buddy, he does not want to say hi to his
34:40
adoring fans. I'm so sorry. um as Indiana's agent.
34:46
I should have made a a um another graphic that was like, "If you want this
34:51
type of show again, press this and that." Um after the recent changes to Snow White no longer being less scary,
34:58
which is the most frightening Disneyland attraction. Fantasy Land doesn't say Disneyland.
35:04
Fantasy Land. Fantasy Land. What do you think it is, Mr. Toes? I I agree with you. You go to jail.
35:10
You go to hell. And you get you go to hell. You also get attached by train. Yeah.
35:17
Like Yeah, there's there's a lot going on with that. Um Andy says, "Hi, Grandma. He misses you."
35:23
He said, "Be his Valentine." Yeah, that's I feel like that's kind of a no-brainer. Unless you're scared of
35:30
heights. And then Peter Pan. I was going to say so I actually was going to say Mr. Toads easy
35:37
followup. Yes, I am Indy's mamaager. I'm his pageant mom. The followup. Um,
35:44
Pinocchio. Oh, Pinocchio is a little bit scary. I think Thank you, Johnny.
35:49
That one is Pinocchio's uky spooky, especially now that it's like dark. It's like kind of scary.
35:54
Well, the funny thing is is it's not dark. Like, it's the same darkness it's been forever. They've just lightened up.
36:01
Everything else is so light. Yes. And I'm I am really curious like when does Pinocchio get the love
36:07
that that Snow White guy polishes it up. And honestly, when does Mr. Toad get the love?
36:12
Yeah. When did the Willows is such a fantastic story. Um yeah, the monster
36:19
monster. You know what? You can tell Annie that when Mr. Daps was a little boy that scared him, too. Um,
36:24
you can also tell Annie we'll protect her from Monstro, from Maleficent, from
36:29
anything bad that'll ever a whale of a tale and it's all true.
36:34
For a tattoo um, yes. Uh, I think those are the scariest.
36:42
I mean, Pinocchio. No, Toad is scary. No, Toad does scare. Like I
36:47
Toad's ukie spooky and it's hot. When you go to hell, it's hot. I think they're pretty close, though.
36:54
Pinocchio is super scary because it's like, oh, children went to jail
37:00
and turned into donkeys. Like, that's a little bit scary, too. Smoking. I mean, they don't smoke in the
37:06
attraction, but do we think Pinocchio will continue on like
37:11
indefinitely? Or is it one of those ones that will eventually be like, "Hey, let's throw in a Disneyland incontto
37:19
ride or Disneyland for like because I could see them throwing in another
37:24
dark ride for a fantasy attraction. Not Tobacco Row, baby.
37:31
Okay. Um, hi Pumpkin. He just talked to me. Hi, kiddo. Um,
37:39
so I think if you didn't find Mr. Toad scary when you were a child, I actually
37:45
think that you're broken inside. Okay, that's crazy. You got hit by a train, sir.
37:52
And Mr. Daps loves trains. You know who else loved trains? Who else loved trains?
37:58
Walt. Walt. Walt loved trains. And in this attraction, I was hoping that was the right answer.
38:03
And in this attraction, no. See, I can see I could I could actually
38:08
see Tangled replacing Pinocchio. I went on a Tangled attraction. Here's the problem is
38:16
I think Pinocchio has a better chance today than it did like five or six years ago when they're like, "Oh, we're not
38:22
even going to show smoking on any of our movies anymore." Like, um,
38:28
I do think you could see a world where they just replace it because I do think
38:34
it has enough that is kind of in the non-D Disney
38:39
whatever. Did you notice I noticed the other day and I walked through twice just to make sure I wasn't
38:45
imagining this. They don't have and I need to do this again maybe on Sunday.
38:50
When You Wish Upon a Star is no longer playing underneath the castle as you walk through into Fantasy Land.
38:57
I haven't seen that in a while. You remember how like you'd hear Jiminy Cricket sing it there? Not singing it
39:03
there anymore. I haven't heard that in a while. Yeah, it's kind of sad. All right, we
39:09
are running out of time. We will continue conversations on Daps HQ. Katie, what should people do?
39:15
You should go to dapsmagic.com. You should check out all the Disney and geek news as it happens. Um, you should subscribe to our mailing list so you
39:21

39:27

39:32

39:38
Go have fun and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don't miss videos like this or any others in the parks and
39:44
