Welcome to Geeks Corner. I'm Mr. Daps. I'm Katie. and we're so excited that you're here on the last Tuesday before
0:30
the 70th official anniversary of Disneyland, which is on Thursday. You're saving that one. That's a good one.
0:35
No, I just came up with it actually. Oh, I did not think that far ahead. Don't replay last week's intro.
0:42
Okay, I won't. Good. I don't remember it anyway. Hi, pal.
0:48
All right. What should people do, Katie? You should go uh Oh my god.
0:56
Subs subscribe on YouTube. I'm still I This is All right. First thing you should do is if you're not doing it already,
1:02
subscribe to wherever you're watching this podcast. If you haven't already, go check us out on Patreon. We have a lot
1:07
of fun over there. And we uh put some stuff that's completely unique to Patreon over there as well. And then
1:14
perhaps most importantly, share this and join us in the comments for the conversation because at the end of the
1:20
show, we will be responding to questions in the comments in a section we like to call or segment we like to call
1:26
comments. You're not supposed to take that part away from me. It's all together now.
1:32
No, it's not. That's how it is in the notes. Um anyway, this man's like, "You didn't read the
1:38
notes." as if like I can just the thing I've been saying on the show for the last like six years I can just change.
1:45
But that's why I put it in the notes for you. Anyway, he thinks that we're playing an obstacle course. Let's talk about Muppets.
1:51
Thanks, Daddy. Mr. Thank you, Mr. Daddy. Thanks, man. Daddy. Thank you, Mr. Daddy. Thanks, man.
1:58
As has been happening throughout the entire Muppet 70th celebration as well,
2:03
70th, right? Yeah. Uh we have been highlighting a Muppet each week. And by we, I mean the Muppet studio. And we
2:11
have been guessing which Muppet will be highlighted. And uh so far we've not
2:16
been super good at guessing which Muppet is going to be highlighted each week.
2:21
And uh so this is the chance where we guess. And I see Statler and Waldorf. I see Uncle Deadly. Katie, who do you
2:28
think this week will be the Muppet of the Week? Uh Miss Piggy, I see.
2:35
Um, I think no. I'm gonna Have they already done Jim
2:42
Henson Muppet? I don't think so. I'm gonna say Jim. I can't remember now.
2:47
I'm going to say Jim Henson Muppet. Clockie will tell us if we're wrong. Um, and I'm going to go with Bobo the Bear
2:52
cuz uh someday is going to be his day. Like I keep hoping that that he's going to get some love at some point.
2:59
Bobo. I don't actually think it's going to be either of those though because it was Borugard this last week and so I
3:04
feel like it has to be uh more recognizable because they kind of go back and forth. So
3:10
we will see. It'll be interesting. It would be funny if they did something like so we have not had the Jim Henson Muppet. There we go.
3:15
I feel like we have to have which I say that we're not going to ever get Jim Hensson Muppet. I feel like we have to get Jim Henson Muppet at some point.
3:22
Um I would like to see Yes. I hope Bobo will have his week. I
3:29
would like to see though like the greater like grander Muppet family also.
3:34
So like Big Bird. Yeah, but that's not I know. I would like to see it though
3:40
because technically they are Muppets. Yes. Like I would I think it would be a goodwill offering to um give some love
3:48
to those friends on Sesame Street. Don't you think?
3:54
As opposed to this guy. Welcome to Indiana's podcast. He thinks he runs the place tonight. Um,
3:59
this is our producer who's actually really bad at his job. That is for sure. I honestly don't know how he has not
4:06
been affected by um the cuts cuz some of the interns haven't seen some work in a
4:11
while, but that is true. Anyway, this week has been a very busy week for DAP's Magic. Are we
4:17
done with the Muppets? Yeah, we're done with the muppets. Yeah, because this Muppet here is doing enough on his own. Uh
4:22
the this week has been a very busy week and this coming like couple days I guess
4:29
we're gonna see is the world will get to see for the first time in person the
4:34
Walt Disney audio animatronic and Walt Disney A magical life which will be opening to the public on July 17th along
4:42
with the uh the exhibit just in the lobby actually it's the beginning and
4:47
the exit of the uh opera house which is called Evolution of a Dream, which really is looking at Walt Disney's dream
4:55
kind of origins, where it went, where it's going, like it it's kind of a big picture um
5:02
big tent, I guess, like it there's lots of things you can do with this, and it it starts from the beginning and and
5:08
moves on as you go through the experience, which really does include the exit as well. Uh we at DAPS Magic,
5:15
some of us got a chance on Monday to check this out. And uh this is easily
5:21
something that you can spend a good chunk of time on if you like exploring
5:27
um like concept art and and old images and old uh animatronics and things like
5:36
that. So, when you walk in, your first thing you're going to see, just like you used to see, you see the the uh the
5:42
bench from Griffith Park. You see the Walt Disney walking through Sleeping Beauty Castle just like you normally
5:48
would see. Then you hang a right and everything's different. In front of you, there's uh different Mickey years
5:53
through the years that uh they've had from merchandise that are vintage. And then on your right, right there is
6:01
u concept art of different iterations of what Disneyland could look like. and and as you go down the hall, it develops
6:07
more. And then as you go around the lobby, you see that you've got uh a lot of concept art for the parks, different
6:14
lands in the parks, there's concept art. There's different uh vintage uh
6:19
merchandise that you can take a look at. There's a recreation of Walt's apartment
6:25
which has um actual furniture that was in his apartment back in the day that uh
6:31
it turns out Lily uh like to Lillian like to swap out apartment uh furniture
6:37
occasionally. Mhm. So the wonderful thing about this is they could have a separate set. So
6:42
you've got the stuff upstairs and you got stuff downstairs and doesn't really matter because at the end
6:48
of the day this is all from the Walt Disney Family Museum anyway. So, it is from the Walt Disney family. It is from
6:53
It was in the apartment at one point. And um and that's actually how a lot of this exhibit works because as you go
7:00
further back into what was it? Oh, the dog. Um as you go further back into the
7:06
the lobby, there is going to be a show where they were showing most recently the 50th show or the 50th
7:12
presentation with Steve Martin and Donald Duck. Um there's gonna be another show there. That wasn't up yet when we were there, but it's coming. And then
7:19
you go into the back half and it really goes from more um
7:25
I don't know what to call it like more the front half I'm going to say is more conceptual and then you have the uh like
7:32
concept art and stuff and artwork and then the back half has physical animatronics audio animatronics that
7:39
yeah it was Once Upon a Studio um that have come from the parks. So, as you're
7:44
walking into that back lobby where there was once the the capital building, instead of the capital building there,
7:50
now you see this display that has different eras of audio animatronics
7:56
through Walt's era. Mhm. So, first you see the dancing man that was kind of the the starting point for
8:03
audio animatronics from a physical standpoint. Then you look to the right a little bit and you see um I think
8:08
there's an alligator there. There's the uh this was actually really cool. There is a um a bird in a bird cage.
8:15
Mhm. It's the exact one that Walt had, but not they actually went and found the
8:21
company that made Walt's original bird cage and the bird, you know, that inspired, you know, tiki rooms and all
8:28
that fun stuff. And um and then they found the company, then they went on
8:34
wherever they go to find these things. And they found this old version. And I was talking to one of the Imagineers and
8:41
they're like, "Yeah, we got it. We tried it. It worked. Like that one does work and now it's here for you to see." And
8:47
it's the same one that Walt had. It's just not his. And uh same year, same age, all that fun stuff. It sounded like
8:53
But the question I then asked was like, "So, what was it like that first time where you pull this thing out of a box
9:00
and you're like, "All right, who's going to who's going to like, yeah, who does who's going to wind it up?" Because that could be a really great moment or a
9:06
really terrible one. And then I was like, did it work? And it did work. It was really dusty apparently, but it it
9:13
not surprising. The world worked out in terms of this little bird. Um, right below this bird cage. I'm impressed that Oh, you know
9:19
what, guys? I was smart, too. Kind of. So, um,
9:25
this is Here we go. There's the display I'm talking about. And right on top of
9:30
the TV is the bird cage. That, uh, that's the same as Walts, but different.
9:36
Um, then also on the right you'll see there's a couple tiki birds and there's the uh the um
9:44
I don't know what to call the bird in the baskets that that sing. Um anyway, those are the birds themselves,
9:51
the tumac. They're actually moving and and breathing and
9:58
lifelike. And I've heard that they might be doing more in the coming days, which
10:04
would be very cool. And I'd love to see those cylinder things.
10:13
Tiki room that were down in the basement of the tiki room. And uh they just found
10:18
them and preserved them. And if you look closely, there's a piece of tape you can see in this picture. And on that piece
10:24
of tape, I think is where it says the last time that was serviced for when it still ran the tiki room, which was very
10:30
cool. I thought that's extremely neat. Yeah. Um, on the other side of this,
10:35
there is a uh a goose from Small World. There's a uh a little kid from Small
10:41
World that was from I think 1965, like the original Small World. Um, I think at Disneyland. I'm spacing a little bit in
10:48
the moment what that was. And uh there's also pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean. Like there's a couple of of
10:54
figures and then there's also a pig. And um and uh yeah, it was the Barker Bird in
11:02
Jose. Thank you. Uh, and I'm curious what they're going to do. But, uh, these
11:07
these pirates were from the attractions. The pig was from the attraction, although it was originally from World of Motion and then it got moved over to our
11:14
version of Pirates of the Caribbean, which is where I'm like, yeah, things come and go. They move. Now, the pig is
11:19
available to be in this exhibit. Very cool. Um, and the Imagineers were very
11:24
generous with their time and sharing this passion project, and we hadn't even gotten into the Walt Disney thing yet.
11:31
Um the walls were filled with pictures of like there's Walt, there's all sorts of
11:37
different people in there. There's also awards that he's received through the years and there's literally hundreds of
11:43
them and they don't have hundreds of them in there, but there's hundreds they could choose from him. Those came from the Walt Disney Family Museum. It was
11:49
very clearly a collaborative effort from many different um
11:55
different parts of not just the company, but also the Walt Disney family.
12:00
And uh and then on the back wall where they they show they've had different videos through the years like they had
12:07
an Abraham Lincoln video there um originally that I remember but uh they have a Walt Disney bust on one side,
12:14
they have an Abe Lincoln bust on the other side with pictures of each of them above their busts and then now they have
12:19
um videos of people remembering Walt Disney and talking about experiences
12:24
with him and and things like that. Like it's it's it's a nice thing. Um, a lot of the videos are ones that if you keep
12:31
up with these kind of things, you've probably seen them before. And um, and that's okay. Like they're they're good
12:37
because I think a lot of people haven't seen them and and they fit very well in the room. And so uh, finally we get to
12:46
go in and we get to see uh, Walt A Magical Life. So the show starts. I'm
12:52
going to give you a big picture of it. I'm not going to give too many like there won't be that many spoilers. Um,
12:58
big picture is it starts with One Man's Dream, which is a show that I originally saw at Disney California. Do you ever
13:03
see it at Disney California Adventure, Katie? I don't think so, actually. So, basically, there used to be a theater where Turtle Talk with Crush is.
13:09
I mean, it is a theater, but it was a seating theater and there's a show called One Man Dream, which we have seen
13:15
in Florida, I'm pretty sure. I've seen it multiple times in Florida. Okay, great. And, uh, it's actually the first place I ever saw
13:20
it. Yeah. Was I was like 12, which is a great place to see it because there it's it's narrated by Julie
13:25
Andrews. And here it was narrated by uh Michael Eisner kind of because it actually started with
13:32
him in his office I think at Walt Disney Studios was where it was supposed to be like the Florida version um or Hollywood
13:38
Studios and it was one of those very fun things that um
13:43
uh he it very much lined up with him on
13:49
television if you grew up in the 80s and 90s and and so then then it went into all that. Well, now it's narrated by Bob
13:56
Iger, which the Imagineers were talking about why they chose Bob Iger, and it really came down to he's one that sits in the
14:03
chair that Walt Disney sat in metaphorically. And there's only been a handful of people that have ever led
14:09
this organization. And as they were going through a lot of the things that Walt talked about for coming up with
14:15
Walt's speech, um, the future of the organization was always something that he was looking at and that was always
14:21
something very important to him. and and so they really wanted to kind of honor
14:26
that and and have somebody that had that same um
14:32
responsibility and weight to carry this this show forward. So that's why they chose Bob Iger.
14:38
Bob Iger does basically the same narration. I'm going to say 95% maybe even more that if you've seen
14:47
the show before it's it's it's very similar. There's a few things that have been changed, whether it's uh part of
14:53
the narration or different images and videos that are shown. In fact, I think there was a couple new ones that were
14:59
from the Walt Disney Family Museum that were contributed for this um edit. It also looks beautiful. It's been updated.
15:04
I feel like the last time I saw it at Walt Disney World, it was not so beautiful. Do you remember this? Did it seem a little bit
15:10
uh Yes. I think the last time we saw it, we were like, "Oh, there's like holes in this film. This needs some love." Yeah. Like it it
15:16
had some And if you have questions, feel free to throw them in, Katie. Um I I recognize with this topic I have to
15:23
like get us through this a little bit. Um so then finally Walt Disney comes, he gives a speech. Uh I will say I called
15:30
it last week. I'm going to do this spoiler. What did I say the song was going to be at the end?
15:36
Uh great big beautiful tomorrow. No, that was your song. That was not my song. My song or maybe it was from the chat.
15:41
My song was When You Wish Upon a Star. Oh yeah, it was When You Wish Upon a Star. There's your one spoiler. Um
15:47
Oh, one spoiler. Then they then they send you out into the world and you see Feed the Birds would have been great. Feed the birds way better.
15:53
I actually we could do a whole show on the soundtrack because I actually thought
15:58
I thought there were some opportunities that you could do some fun things. Um
16:04
but uh so then you get sent out there's the old artwork, some of the old artwork
16:09
of Abe Lincoln in the hallway right as you're exiting which I was very thankful for because I've always loved that picture. You know, the one with uh Abe
16:16
standing in front of the window as president and it's kind of got that lonely but visionary thing. I love that picture.
16:22
It's the one they recreate in Lincoln with Daniel D. Lewis in 2012. I would love that. Like if I had a fancy
16:27
office. Yeah, I know. Like that would be the best picture. Then you go out and there's this
16:32
beautiful wall length mural that Sam Carter created. It's
16:39
It's fantastic. I should have worn my West. This was one of the last projects that Kim Irvine worked on. Like they they were very once
16:46
again collaborative is the word that keeps popping up in my head as I'm talking about this because everybody was like, "Oh, and this person helped and
16:52
this person had that idea and we did, you know, like it was just really nice to see." So that's on the right side. On
16:57
the left side, they have pictures of cast members that have worked at Disneyland through the years. I was very happy to see um my friend Dave that
17:05
worked at the watch shop years ago painting well painting artwork that ended up on watches and it was always
17:11
fun to watch him explain that. But um there's all of these pictures. There was
17:16
a Eureka picture you would like. Um I think there was one from anime. It might have been Pocahontas the my friend
17:24
that uh that was kind of like my contact there. We weren't entirely sure because it could go either way, but it's you
17:31
could spend a lot of time. This is why you can have that extra 5 to 10 minutes at the exit because there's just so many pictures to look at. And then finally,
17:38
there's Mickey Mouse, Sorcerer, and Mickey kind of pointing off to the future as you're just about to exit. And
17:43
they have concept art for what's coming to the Disneyland Resort that's from Imagineering. So then it's the past, present, and future. That is the entire
17:50
description of the the the experience as you go through it. What everybody really cares about though is Walt Disney and
17:57
and right and we have been talking about this I don't know a lot. Um I think
18:04
everybody else has been talking about this too. I'm just going to say
18:11
my mind was broken when I walked out of it the first time we saw it. Well, I saw
18:16
it twice and and I was asked by my friend Tim and he's like, "So, what'd you think of it?" And I was like, I
18:22
actually don't know what to think of it. I know how I feel. How I felt was I felt
18:27
happy. I felt emotional. I felt like they really
18:33
did something special and showed how much they love Walt Disney with this show. Like everything built to the love
18:39
of Walt the Man as opposed to Walt the caricature of the head of Disney. Like
18:46
and and part of that is is like the script they chose for him. Part of that is is different things that you see
18:51
around the the uh exhibit. Um and then also just the show One Man's Dream, I think does a good job with that, too.
18:58
But I really was moved by the whole show. And uh walking out, I had this
19:05
realization that I didn't have the best way to judge Walt the audio animatronic
19:13
because it was the first time I'd ever seen him in HD in physicality, 3D, whatever you want to
19:21
call it. Like right there, you could reach out and shake his hand. And um and
19:27
there's some little things that they do during the show that really like you sit
19:32
there and let's say you know nothing about Disney. You're going to be charmed
19:37
by this little old man that's excited about what he's doing and thinks he's
19:42
he's said something witty or is being impatient about the current CEO talking
19:49
about the original CEO. like it there's some really magical moments that happen
19:54
in the storytelling and um and and like that is what
20:03
especially the first time I watched the show that's what I was focused on like it was just like oh you did it like
20:10
there there's tweaks obviously like there's things if I was the the executive producer for this project I
20:17
would be like okay this is what I would change. Like there's there's a musical note that if I had been in charge, this
20:25
is what I would have done. And um and and what they did was fine. Um there
20:30
there were also like acting notes I think you could choose. But on the flip side, I'm like
20:36
they've been so they told us that they started they went into Walt's office um with Becky Klene and it's Tom
20:44
Fitzgerald Jeff. I'm spacing his name at the moment, but they went into Walt's office on July 17th, 2018.
20:50
Oh wow. So that means they're already thinking about this, working on this. This is the point where they're like, "Hey, we need
20:56
to start thinking about recreating Walt's office." So that's what, seven years, 8 years, something like that. So,
21:02
let's assume they've been doing this for 7 to 10 years, working on this and trying to make this that's a labor of
21:07
love and and you know from the get-go, you're going to get reaction
21:14
across the board because traditionally we as Disney fans, there will be some people that love it. There will be some
21:20
people that will will grow to love it and then there will be actually here's what it is. There's going to be probably
21:26
what is it the 10 1080 10 rule. There's 10 there's 10% that absolutely adore
21:31
this thing. I think there's 80% they're gonna be somewhere in the middle and then there's gonna be another 10%
21:37
that absolutely hate the thing and and the tens are the most vocal and the tens are always the most vocal.
21:44
I would say I'm in the upper right. Okay. Like I really liked it. Um it's one of those things I want to go back and
21:50
experience multiple times. Um, I also will say as much as people have been
21:55
ragging on how the Walt audio animatronic looks. Look at this.
22:03
I don't think it's terrible. Like, I think it's much closer than a lot of the presidents we've seen in the eyebrows
22:09
are wrong. I think the eyebrows might be a little bit too bushy. I agree with that. Well, and they're too dark in my humble
22:15
opinion. I could see that, too. like and that could be a a choice so that you can see them on stage or something too like I
22:21
don't know. Um but I do know that everything before,
22:27
during and after this experience in the opera house shows the level of love and
22:33
care and dedication that was put into this project by Imagineering, by
22:39
archives, by corporate, by the Walt Disney Family Museum. like there was a lot of buyin and collaboration coming
22:46
from across the board because there was so much
22:52
care and love for Walt Disney that they wanted to do it right and and I think um
22:59
and I think it's one of those things that it really when you experience the whole thing and you go through the whole
23:07
uh project, you know, like it's it's kind of it's like a good movie or a good symphony like it takes you on that that
23:13
journey and when you go through the whole journey, it really is a lovely thing and um so I'm glad they did it.
23:19
Like I think it's two thumbs up. Um it might be I don't know if it's an every
23:24
week attraction. It'll kind of depend on what the vibe is with with the people
23:29
that are in the like if it's loud obnoxious people maybe not. Like I really want to go and sit in it in
23:35
different parts of the room too. um because there's different details you see on the set and with what Walt does
23:41
with his hands and his body and stuff that I really wanted to catch and even his face like there's some interesting
23:46
things but um I don't want to give away too much but yes I would definitely like to see it multiple multiple times like
23:52
you you'd have no problem getting me in there multiple times. Um do you have any questions Katie or
23:57
thoughts? No, I I don't know. Um this is still something I I not to be the
24:03
contrarian on the internet. This is still something I feel super wary about if I'm being completely honest. I have not listened to any thing that has come
24:11
out of it. Um I refuse to listen to it until I have seen it with my own two eyes. I think it's the best way to do it.
24:17
Um and like people like, "Oh, how you going to spoil the like it's a man that exists?" Yeah, whatever. Like I believe
24:24
that there are spoilers. I believe that the way that they presented it is something that I want to see presented in person for the first time. Um,
24:33
and yeah, I don't know. I've been trying to I I kind of disassociated a little
24:38
bit when you were discussing the uh intro and the exit because I didn't want to know much about that either. Um, so I
24:46
don't know. Like I'm trying to go into this as fresh as possible. Uh, while also not
24:52
I don't know. I I will lovely I would be so happy to be surprised, but I I still feel kind of worried about it.
24:59
Well, and I think that's fair. And I also think just at the end of the day, um,
25:04
you have to take it for what it is. Are we ever going to see Walt Disney walk into our into our I mean, I
25:10
sure hope not. I mean, unless they come up with something like Star Trek with, you know, the the um
25:16
holiday holiday, we're probably not going to have anything that close. Um, I will say they worked very closely with the Walt
25:22
Disney Family Museum to get dimensions right and sizes right and even the right fabric and the right rings. Um, but you
25:29
know there's always that that it's a replica. Um, so it's not going to be exactly right. Um,
25:37
but I will also say I think that's a better attitude to have to come for it as opposed to looking for the company to
25:43
fail, looking for the bad. You know, one of my favorite lines in Polyiana is if you look for the bad, uh, what is it? If
25:49
you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will. And um, and I kind of feel like people were looking
25:54
for that with here. They're like, "Oh, I'm looking for I mean, everybody, if we take the picture of anybody that's
26:00
watching us or ourselves from the wrong angle, we can look a little weird or
26:06
even not like ourselves and or we just don't like how we look that way." And and you think of everything we saw or
26:13
see on a regular basis of Walt Disney is is taken from a specific angle, from a very perfectly lit whatever. Um, so I
26:21
don't know. Like it it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I think long term it's going to be a good thing. uh just
26:28
because the other element that Tom was talking Tom Fitzgerald's talked about was uh Walt Disney was a huge huge huge
26:36
fan of Abraham Lincoln which is why he made him an audio animatronic form and he felt a great weight of responsibility
26:42
for that and they said they felt the same way and Tom was talking about how he saw the Abe Lincoln audio animatronic
26:50
at the World's Fair as a kid because he grew up in New York and now how what six decades later uh he felt like kind of in
26:57
the same position of having that weight of responsibility uh for recruiting. Well, so we'll see how it goes. It'll be
27:03
fine. Uh this week we also got a new plaque. Let us know also what you think in the chat. Um just be nice. Uh there's
27:11
a new plaque installed for the horserawn trolley on Main Street, which is kind of a fun thing. Uh there's also the uh
27:18
installation of the Sherman Brothers tribute currently happening on Main Street which will be interesting. Um
27:25
because it's it's a I realized it's it's a weird thing because a lot of this and I guess it makes sense because it's Main
27:30
Street. A lot of this is looking back right now and for a a company that was built on a man that keeps moving forward. I was I
27:37
had that weird thought today as I was writing like oh well this is about back then. Oh this like it was a lot of history today and it works on Main
27:44
Street. Yeah. Um, the other exciting thing though is we're getting a new verse, the last verse in uh, Small World
27:50
this week, which will be very interesting. And we just filmed the current for what, two more days, day and
27:56
a half, um, version of Small World this last weekend. So, we'll have both and and that'll be kind of a fun thing. But
28:04
that's not all that's going on because we are going to talk about one more thing before I return to go questions and comments. If you have them, throw
28:10
them in the comments and we will respond. But we of the 137 nominations or Emmy
28:18
nominations for the Walt Disney Company. Katie, which one are you most excited about? I have a guess.
28:24
There's a couple guesses, but I I think like you can just go with show. You don't have to do like specifics.
28:30
Doctor Who. Really? Doctor Who. Yeah. The fact that it's gotten a nomination for the first time in over 60 years over Rexom.
28:35
Okay. I love Rexom. I thought you were going to go with Rex. Rex gets nominated for an Emmy every year though. Like
28:41
fair. I mean, I think Doctor Who getting an Emmy. Um,
28:47
I thought Shy was a wonderful doctor and I really really loved him. Um, and so for,
28:53
um, I also think the Walt Disney Company messed up by not having him be the doctor anymore. Um, and so I really like
29:00
to see that recognition. U, it's the first time that The good thing about Doctor Who now though is just because it's like you
29:08
never know, he might be back in a couple years. Um, yeah. So, that's that's
29:14
definitely I think really cool. Yeah. And Acolyte, obviously. Acolyte I thought was cool. Uh, my
29:20
favorite will be no surprise to anybody I would assume was Only Murders in the Building. I think they got was it eight
29:26
of them? I think so. And, uh, Martin Short got
29:31
something like that. It's hard. I I could look at notes, but it's 137 for the whole company. I mean, that's that's pretty impressive.
29:38
And I feel like that's a higher number than a couple times in recent years. Um, so that's exciting.
29:45
Um, yeah, it's interesting because like Doctor Who would be a lot of fun to see get some wins.
29:50
Only Murders I just love because it kind of breaks the it kind of breaks a mold
29:56
for what popular television is supposed to be. It also breaks a mold for like your Agatha Christies, your Columbbo,
30:03
your Murder She Wroes, like all of those murder type shows.
30:08
They're like, "Can we make a murder type show that's also funny, but also has old guys best friends with a young girl?"
30:15
Yeah. Like, it's hilarious. Um and it works. Um I would love to see Acolyte get some
30:20
love, too. I would love that. Um, just because I think if it can get enough love and if
30:26
that generates enough views like at the end of the day, Acolyte didn't get another round just because of the financial sense of
30:33
was it Alan Bergman? It's like it financially just did not make sense for the amount of money they put into this.
30:39
It didn't it didn't pay for itself. And that's the sad fact of entertainment. And um and
30:45
because they didn't want to tell Darly just I mean honestly it should have gone just straight there. Um,
30:51
it's not tell the Jedi would tell you I would that's that's what I would love to see in season 2. That's all we need.
30:57
Um, but yes, zero. You know what they could do?
31:02
You know, you know, uh, Emperor Palpatine. Yeah. Wouldn't you like to see him as a
31:07
little boy? It's actually not funny. It's actually like so not Hey, whoever from Lucasfilm
31:14
just saw this. Um, delete delete the last five minutes out of your brain.
31:19
That'd be super cool. Thank you. All right, let's You didn't like that idea, huh? Okay. I
31:25
I I thought it was I thought it was and his buddy Snoke. Yeah, it is buddy.
31:33
Oh, it was his best friend as a kid. And then Mhm. All right, let's go to the comments.
31:47
We don't need baby help. Wait, what if what if his best friend was actually um
31:52
Jarger Bing's dad? I guess that makes sense timelinewise.
31:58
Uh-huh. I just realized that could work also. And maybe that's why he hates Gungans. Yeah, that's that's
32:04
Well, maybe actually it wasn't his best friend. That was his that was his first
32:09
love of his life. And they were in two different parts of the world on the same planet. But because different it was a
32:17
fung a to the fungus. I was gonna say forbidden Gungan rule
32:23
and then it came out fun. I don't know. So just hear you say that Palpatine is
32:30
Jar Bink's dad. He could have been. See, it would have, but the love was forbidden and it was
32:36
Oh, so he had to not love Jar. Yes, it was forbidden. Um, so he wasn't allowed to be with Jar
32:42
Jar's dad, so he couldn't be Jarar's second dad. Yeah. None of that was happening. Oh, well
32:48
that it was a miss. Um, it was also because he refused to take swim lessons as a kid. Um,
32:53
true. Yeah, he could. All right, so let's go for real to the comments now. First question is, do we think that the uh Walt Disney Magical
33:01
Life goes to Florida or the international parks? Absolutely not. Um, they were very clear that this was a an
33:08
exhibit and a show that fits at Disneyland because Disneyland is where Walt uh Walt actually walked and it was
33:14
a good um anchoring point in the park for people as they were coming to
33:19
Disneyland and and bringing Walt to life. So, I I don't think that'll um happen. Also, Florida has no Lincoln. So,
33:26
yeah, that too. I mean, they do, just not that. Uh, Chris is wondering if they'll put the third verse into the
33:33
holiday version of It's a Small World. That's an interesting idea. Um, I think that they will.
33:39
I think that's a very distinct possibility. Yes, that's that's a that's a good thought. Uh, Lillian Window is beautiful.
33:46
Yeah. Uh, it it's got so many nods to her story to
33:52
Oh my gosh. to her story. Not Yeah. Um, there's some beautiful art up
33:57
there. like it's it's definitely worth um spending some time looking at all the
34:02
details. And I like the vintage Mickey. Um yeah. Well, and the firehouse. I was going to say the firehouse is
34:08
pretty cool. Um and if you look at where the firehouse is and the art setup there, it's perfect for if like you're
34:14
painting and looking to your left at the fire. Like it's great. Um was there another question? You feel
34:20
free to throw. Back in the day, they called him palpy. I will be just like young Sheldon.
34:28
I I'm sorry, Clocky. You don't know what you did referencing young Sheldon in
34:34
this chat. Um, and yes, uh, Dabs is writing his own Gungan
34:40
fanfiction. We can't trust him. He cannot be trusted.
34:46
You know, crazier things have happened. That's how people have ended up being like producers on random shows and stuff. Um, especially in this day and
34:53
age. Uh, we do have new Star Trek coming this week, too, which is very exciting for those of us that watch Star Trek Strange New Worlds, and I'm excited to
34:59
uh go boldly where Well, I was like, lots of men have gone
35:06
before. No, I was going to say we're like the Enterprise hasn't gone before, but we're
35:11
basically going boldly to where they've gone before because this show eventually ends up where the original series
35:16
starts. But they definitely haven't gone there before. if they haven't gone there yet canonically.
35:23
I don't know. Uh it is asking if Palpy's Mima has a good Absolutely.
35:30
Uh can't you tell that's what happens in Revenge of the Sith?
35:36
You're sick. You are so You are ill. He's the Sith. I just observe. I report
35:41
on what I see. You are sick in the head. Am I wrong?
35:46
Welcome to the Mustafar Barbecue Cookout. That was his backup plan.
35:52
Stop. You're He's like, "If if this empire thing doesn't work out, I'm going to start a
35:58
barbecue. I'm going to be a bit master and Moose Far." No.
36:04
Can you imagine Palp What would it be? Uh Palpatines's BBQ on Food Network.
36:13
Palp Palpy's BBQ. Uh yeah,
36:18
Geeks Corner after dark. Mustafar
36:25
that's funny. But it needs like a slogan like Mustafar Barbecue. Taste the char. You know,
36:31
I thought you going to say we cook while you wait. No, that's not a good slogan. I would
36:36
not go to a restaurant. Do you think Anakin likes burnt ends? He didn't like
36:41
his ends burnt. Um, it depends like if it's Yeah.
36:46
Uh, but no, like most of my barbecue needs like a a slogan, like a catchy slogan. That's funny. That's really really good. That's really
36:54
funny. Um, you were supposed to
36:59
h You were supposed to cook the meat, not burn it. I don't know. Like, you have to I have the high ground beef.
37:06
See, the menu just cooks like the menu writes itself. That's really good. Yeah, the menu. Um,
37:13
oh my gosh. I do have a question for those though, like just because I did have lunch yesterday at Hungry Bear Bbecue and I
37:20
had the salad for the first time. My question is, how are you supposed to eat corn? I don't know.
37:26
Because you can't cut through it with your knife cuz it's got the core still. Oh, but it's also not a thing that you
37:32
really like they don't give you something to wash your hand. I don't know. Like it it it was a very weird
37:38
You were the chosen beef. You were the chosen beef. Yeah. Um, that's good. Anyway, if anybody knows
37:44
how to eat the corn, I'd like to know cuz um it didn't work out so well. Everything else was good. It was a
37:49
little bit of a spicy uh salad dressing. Like it was it was good. Love spicy. That's true. All right. Um I think we
37:56
are running out of time. So Katie, what should people do? You should go to daps I'm sorry. I'm currently playing tug-of-war with my
