Spaceship Earth | DISNEY THIS DAY | May 25, 1986
May 25, 2026
On this day in 1986, guests experienced the opening day version of Spaceship Earth for the last time at EPCOT Center. The following day, broadcaster Walter Cronkite would take over as narrator, and a new score plus the “Tomorrow’s Child” finale song would debut. Vic Perrin read the original script about the rise of communication. The tone was more formal than the modern interpretations. The ride used to conclude with astronauts working on satellites at a space station, a scene that has since been removed or hidden. [40 years ago in 2026]
