Good afternoon everyone. Hello. Hello.
0:14
Please continue eating. We hope you are enjoying the great meal that you have ahead of you. We are so so happy to see
0:21
you here today. I'm Jessica Miley, chief development officer and senior vice president here at Ray Children's
0:28
Hospital of Orange County. Our shop, that's a name. We all officially call ourselves our shop. We are so proud to
0:35
see you all. As I was giving lots and lots of hugs to everyone, I was saying today's my second favorite day. My first
0:42
favorite day is chalk, but today is my second favorite day because that's because we get to celebrate all of you.
0:48
So, thank you so much for being here. We are so so glad that you're here um in our brand new tower. This is called our
0:55
Southwest Tower and you're all going to get to have a tour of it today. We're lucky that this is one of our ambulatory
1:00
buildings meaning meaning that it is for all of our outpatient care. So our inpatient care continues to happen
1:06
across the street and that way we bring our kids when they have any outpatient needs whether it's infusion, orthopedics, they need that MRI, they
1:14
can come right here to this outpatient ambulatory center. And as you saw, this uh building is not only designed, I hope
1:20
you all feel like you're at Chalk because it is beautiful and warm and friendly and all of the things that
1:25
Chalk gives to our kids and our families. But the beauty of it is this building was designed um not by
1:32
architects and not by uh the the you know corporate teams. This this building
1:37
was designed by our patient and family ad um um advisory council. They were the
1:43
ones that said, "You know what? We really need we need a parking garage that we could just wheel our stroller or
1:48
our wheelchair right inside and come right in here. You know what else we need? We need a pharmacy. You see it
1:53
right behind me. That way if you have a sick kid that just got diagnosed with an ear infection or something, you don't have to stop at CVS. You can stop right
2:00
behind me, grab all your medicine, and then head out back out to your car. So, every single little detail was thought
2:06
of in building this, including that great little from Berg Electric helped us build that little tunnel there.
2:11
Again, it's just all about inspiring uh magic and childhood and all the joys
2:16
that we get to offer every day to our families and the patients that we serve. What I'm most excited about about
2:23
hosting you in our newest home, again, the Southwest Tower, is because this was built because of all of you. The way we
2:29
build these these major initiatives and projects as part of our inner master enterprise master plan is because of the
2:35
incredible philanthropy that you all do. We see you. We see you out there raising those $10, those $25, those $10,000
2:43
sponsorships. That's what helps us build things like this. That's what helps us provide the important things for our
2:49
kids when they're inatient and outpatient like our pet therapy, our art therapy. We get to have Choco Bear. You
2:56
see that we have a library resource center right here. It's all of these things that we're offering to our
3:02
patient families. It's not reimbursed by insurance, but we at Rhock recognize
3:07
that this is what provides exceptional care for our families and we provide those wraparound services. So, it's not
3:13
about just providing exceptional clinical care. It's about wrapping our arms around that entire family. And it's
3:19
truly your philanthropy that helps to make that happen every single day. So, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
3:25
[applause] [applause]
3:31
I'm totally off my script team. I'm so sorry. I haven't even looked at my script. Ah, I just get so excited and
3:36
passionate and I love seeing you guys. So, it's just my favorite my second favorite day. Um, and this is my third
3:43
chalk walk. My very first chalkwalk. You may remember me by the one bringing all that rain and the little huracquake that
3:49
we had. Sorry about that, friends. I hope that we won't ever have another hurricane chalkwalk, but boy did that
3:55
make it memorable. Uh, we are so excited for the upcoming year. We have already got our date prepared with Disneyland
4:02
and we're so excited to see you again uh this coming August. But before we get to
4:07
all of the excitement with August, I have to tell you guys a major announcement. Because of all of you,
4:13
because of you as our top fundraisers, this year, the Chalkwalk raised a
4:18
milestone record-breaking $3 million.
4:25
[applause] It's so hard to believe that our
4:32
hospital was founded by the very own Mr. Walt Disney over 60 years ago in
4:37
partnership with Walter KN. They came together and recognized that we need something right here in our own
4:43
community that can help take care of the kids and the families. So those two geniuses and generous humans came
4:50
together and recognized we're going to build Chalk. And so we feel so lucky that we t we consider ourselves to be
4:57
one of the number one walk programs in the entire country. And we couldn't do that without our partnership with
5:02
Disney. So Disneyland, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. [applause]
5:12
So I have a lot of great things about my job and one of my most favorite things about my job is getting to meet our
5:17
patient families that we get to serve every single day. And this past year, I
5:23
had the opportunity of um announcing and honoring our Chalkwalk ambassador, Miss
5:30
Bellech. Hard to forget Miss Belle. Um I had the great pleasure of meeting Belle three years ago when I had first joined
5:37
the Chalk team. And it was all because we had on matching Mickey Mouse ears.
5:42
She was standing on one side of the We were having a holiday party. She was standing on one side of the lobby and I was on the other and we did the Hey,
5:48
nice ears. And next thing you know, we are truly soul sisters. And I have had the great amazing honor and pleasure of
5:56
watching Belle not only go through her treatment and oh, by the way, when she
6:01
fought cancer, amazing Belle. Yes. [applause]
6:08
But I' I've been able to watch her grow into this young amazing woman who's learning about philanthropy at such a
6:14
young age. And here she is going through hopefully the hardest battle of her entire life. And instead of being down
6:21
about it, she reached her arms out and said, "Allow me to gather my friends and family to help support this." This past
6:28
year, Belle's team raised an amazing $40,000 to support.
6:36
[applause] So her ripple effect is felt by so many
6:42
and it was certainly felt by me when I was um received a shocking diagnosis of my own cancer journey and it was Belle
6:48
and her mom and her brother and dad who helped me during my own cancer journey. So not only was I seeing her as this
6:55
amazing young kid, she then became my mentor and she helped teach me about always looking for the positive and
7:02
really embracing those around you. And that's what this Chalkwalk community does. We wrap ourselves around each
7:08
other and we celebrate children that we've lost. We celebrate and honor them every year. We celebrate kids like Belle
7:15
who are the victory, who have had an amazing journey with us. We celebrate our clinical teams, many of whom you're
7:20
going to meet today when you go on the tour, who give their everyday value in life to us to help make sure we can
7:26
provide the best care to our families. But again, a lot of this can't be done without philanthropy. And that's what
7:31
we're so grateful that all of you help us provide. So without further ado, it is my huge honor to bring my soul
7:37
sister, Bellech, up on stage with me.
7:43
[applause]
7:48
Thank you, Jessica. Hi, everyone. This is such an incredible way to wrap up my
7:54
year as the Chalkwalk ambassador. It's been an honor to be part of such a special fundraiser.
8:00
2025 marked the 33rd year of the walk. The first walk took place on November 10th, which is actually my birthday, so
8:07
that's crazy. 1990. I wasn't born then, but with nearly 1,000 community members
8:14
walking past the new hospital for the inaugural Chalk Disneyland Community Walk, and in 2002, it was reimagined as
8:22
Chalkwalk in the Park. Since its inception, The Walk has raised more than $49 million for the region's only
8:30
pediatric healthcare system, and it's one of the largest and most unique pediatric fundraisers in the nation. I
8:38
personally think it's the best one because it's at the happiest place on earth. And like Jessica said earlier, 2025 was
8:45
the walk's biggest fundraising year ever, raising $3 million. Woo!
8:55
We had over 7,000 participants and 400 teams walking for Children's Health.
9:00
Each person who stepped off down Main Street USA in the very early hours that morning made a difference for kids like
9:07
me and our families. They truly showcased the power of community coming together. Being the ambassador this year
9:14
was such a thrill for me. I was honored to represent the thousands of kids that Chalk cares for each year, knowing how
9:21
hard kids and their families fight alongside the hospital staff in some of the most difficult circumstances. The
9:27
Chalkwalk is extra special to me because it brings together my two favorite places on Earth, Disneyland and Chalk.
9:34
Before each of my chemo rounds, I go to Disneyland to fill up on happiness before treatment. During my treatment, I
9:41
find happiness being surrounded by my docs, nurses, and staff that became a second family to me and brought me joy
9:47
in the middle of my heart cancer fight. Thank you, Chalk Foundation, for giving me the opportunity to be the ambassador
9:54
and for such an incredible year. Here's a video recap to give you an idea of just how amazing the walk was.
10:09
[music]
10:17
[music] Well, good morning everyone and welcome to the jump walk in the park.
10:27
This is such a very special event for all of us here at the Disneyland Resort
10:32
and I can't tell you how much we appreciate all of you. I want to give a huge shout out to all
10:38
of the Chalk Defenders of Childhood. Our team is here today. Your amazing
10:43
dedication, the way you show up each and every day and care for and heal children is just remarkable. Have a great walk
10:50
everyone. Thank you. Have a great walk.
10:56
[music]
11:02
[music] Everyone here today is walking as a part
11:08
of someone's story. And all these stories are connected by one powerful thread, hope. Every step today is in
11:17
honor of those stories. So let's walk together. Let's walk for hope. And let's
11:23
walk for John. [music]
11:35
[music]
11:41
[music] Heat.
11:48
[music] [music]
11:57
[music] Heat. [music]
12:07
[applause]
12:12
[applause] [music]
12:21
Let's do that again in 2026. [applause]
12:30
And now I'd like to introduce our tour guides, Andrew Riaz, Robin Foggard, and
12:35
Fundal. [cheering and applause]
12:55
Good afternoon everybody. Thank you so much for being here. My name is Andrew Reese. I'm the director
13:00
of imaging services at Ray Children's Health Orange County and I'm so honored to be with you today. To every donor in
13:07
this room, on behalf of our patients, their families, and our entire care team, thank you. Your generosity is not
13:15
just appreciated. It is felt every single day in very real and very human ways.
13:22
When people think about the Chalkwalk, they often picture community, hope, and
13:28
movement towards something better. What I want to share with you today is what your steps and your support make
13:35
possible behind the scenes. Our radiology division at Radio Children's Health Orange County performs
13:41
well over 130,000 imaging exams every single year, supporting nearly every
13:47
child who comes through our doors, whether they are here for a routine outpatient visit or facing the most
13:53
complex medical challenges of their lives. more specifically at our new advanced
13:58
outpatient imaging center on the first floor of this very building here. Our focus is centered around patient access
14:04
to the services that we provide. Having performed over 10,000 exams already in the short 6 months since our grand
14:11
opening last year. For many families, imaging is the first
14:16
step in their child's journey. It's where answers begin. It's where
14:21
uncertainty turns into clarity. And often it's where hope quietly starts to
14:26
take shape. What makes our radiology division truly special is that we are the only
14:32
pediatric imaging program in the region dedicated exclusively to children. That
14:37
focus matters. And because of your support, we're able to deliver up to 50% lower radiation
14:45
doses for CT scans, up to 90% lower doses for fllororoscopy and X-ray
14:50
imaging, exams performed by board certified pediatric radiologists,
14:56
and care delivered by technologists, nurses, and childlife specialists who understand not just imaging, but
15:02
children. That means safer imaging, gentler experiences, and parents who can breathe
15:08
a little easier knowing their child is in the right place. Your generosity also fuels excellence.
15:16
RCH radiology is designated as a diagnostic imaging center of excellence
15:21
by the American College of Radiology. And in 2025, we were honored to be the BRAD Professionalism Award winner from
15:29
the American Society of Rad Techs, recognizing us as one of only two organizations nationwide who set the
15:35
standard in regards to culture, compassion, and collaboration.
15:41
These aren't just titles. They represent teams that show up every day committed to doing things the right way for the
15:48
children we serve. Because of donor support like yours, we
15:53
continue to invest in cutting edge child- centered technology. At our new state-of-the-art outpatient
15:59
imaging center, we now offer dedicated ultrasound, fllororoscopy, bone
16:04
densitometry, and x-ray rooms. Child- centered artwork, and ambient lighting
16:09
spread throughout the space, advanced 3T MRI scanners. It says that
16:15
there's two on the slide that you guys see there, but really there's there's three. And I can't wait to show you guys our third our third scanner on the first
16:22
floor there. A spectral CT scanner and immersive imaging environments
16:28
designed to reduce fear and anxiety. And yes, one of those three MRI scanners is affectionately known as our kitten
16:34
scanner because sometimes healing arts healing starts with imagination and
16:40
comfort. Again, I cannot stress it enough. These spaces exist because people like you
16:47
believe that children deserve imaging environments built for them.
16:52
Behind every scan is a child. Behind every image is a family holding their
16:57
breath. And behind every answer is a team supported by your generosity.
17:03
You may not meet the child whose diagnosis was caught early. You may never see the relief on a parent's face
17:09
when results come back. But please know this, your impact is real, and your
17:15
generosity saves time, reduces fear, and changes outcomes. As you tour our spaces
17:21
today, know that every step represents more than fundraising. It represents progress, compassion, and belief in
17:29
what's possible for children. On behalf of RCHOC radiology, thank you for
17:36
walking with us, believing in us, and helping us to continue to deliver worldclass child- centered care. We are
17:43
deeply grateful for you, and we couldn't do this without you. Thank you.
17:48
[applause]
17:56
Wow, Andrew, that's a tough act to follow. should have brought a longer speech. Uh
18:01
my name is Robin Bogard. I'm the clinical coordinator for Outpatient Lead. We're right behind that orange
18:07
wall there. Get a little feedback. Um but without donors and fundraisers like
18:12
yourself, we would never been able to create this young adult adolescent space
18:18
that you're going to see today. Most pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy is built for the neural
18:25
developmental population. With your assistance, we were able to create a
18:30
child-friendly space for those orthopedic teenagers trying to get back to dance children struggling with
18:37
oncology that are 17, 18, 19 years old. They want to learn how to go back to the
18:42
gym, how to lift weights. Your assistance helped us create this beautiful space. In this area, we offer
18:50
orthopedic physical therapy, shroth, which is for scoliosis. This
18:56
type of therapy helps either stop or in some cases reverse the curve for
19:02
children with idiopathic scoliosis. We also provide return to sport assessments for those players trying to
19:09
get back on the field. We want to get them back out safely. And for your general physical therapy
19:14
for any adolescent population, some kids get sent to adult facilities. They're
19:20
surrounded by all of us. or looking like, "Oh, they're so cute." And they're
19:26
terrified. Here, they get to see their peers, other
19:31
seventh, eighth, ninth graders going through the same thing, doing the same exercises. And with our team of seven
19:37
physical therapists, two physical therapy assistants, we're able to make it kid, young adult friendly. So, thank
19:44
you once again for your support and helping us build this beautiful space.
19:50
[applause]
19:57
Good afternoon. My name is Fong Dao. I'm the executive director of Archox Research Institute. And unlike Robin and
20:05
Andrew, I don't have a prepared speech, but I'd like to tell you um why I'm so
20:10
passionate about what I do along with my team from the heart. Um I'm a chop mom.
20:15
I have two young children. uh they um are seen in the CHOP primary care
20:21
network and like many of us in our community, they've been to our urgent care facilities uh for accidents and
20:28
illnesses. They've been in the emergency room when we've had um medical emergencies that need immediate
20:35
attention. They've been admitted to CHOP and have been treated inatient. Uh my son has been on a clinical trial that
20:41
CHOP ran with Chapman University for over two years and having seen CHOP from
20:47
all those various aspects and also being a CHOP employee for over 16 years now. I
20:52
can share with you that all of us who work at CHOP have very similar stories. We come to work for CHOP for a reason.
20:59
And for us in the research institute, it is to go beyond beyond what is medically
21:05
necessary. You heard from Jessica at the beginning that there are many things that shop do that are not reimbursed by
21:12
insurance and finding cures and treatment that are not available today
21:18
or one of those things and through the very generous support and hard work that
21:23
individual like herself support chop through the chalk walk we're able to do amazing things. Currently at CHOP there
21:31
are 600 more than 650 clinical trials open and available to children in our
21:37
community. Um many of our patients who come to CHOP for cancer treatments are treated on a clinical trial. Uh these
21:45
trials are offered throughout our inpatient and outpatient setting whether it's in endocrinology with our diabetes
21:52
patient, asthma al asthma and allergy uh patients, hematology,
21:58
um the list goes on. We make these trials available so that our patients and families have access to the cut the
22:05
most cutting edge care available to them. What is also not so well known in
22:10
our community, we like to get all of your help to get the word out is that CHOP in addition to clinical trials also
22:17
run a very robust basic and translational research program. And
22:22
today I will be very um uh thrilled to share with you shortly the ninth floor.
22:28
Uh it comprises both the clinical and the basic and translational research. At
22:34
CHOP we believe that research is a service to patient care to clinical
22:40
care. It is not research or clinical care that research is on that continuum of care that we offer. So as a service
22:48
uh that we provide we believe that research should be integrated uh into the fabric of the care that our patients
22:54
receive. And for that reason, it's so significant that CHOK through
23:00
philanthropic support has enabled for the research institute to occupy the ninth floor of this building where
23:06
research and clinical care happen side by side. You will see that we have one of the first and we were told by CDPH
23:13
that it's one of the first in the state, one of the first multipety licensed clinic on the ninth floor where patients
23:20
uh can come and uh participate in clinical trials. Um We're in a short
23:26
time gladly to share with you some of the amenities of that space. Um we added
23:32
um 46 wet lab benches and cutting edge equipment to enable the research and
23:37
discovery that only a pediatric hospital like CHO would be investing in and interesting in finding treatment and
23:43
cures for the next generation. So thank you so much for all that you do. You make these things possible uh for all
23:50
patients in our community. And as a chalk mom myself, I'm in greatly indebted both through the work of the
23:57
research institute, but also as a parent in our community. Thank you so much for all that you do.
24:07
Thank you, Andrew, Robin, and F. So this year, we're doing things a
24:14
little differently for our awards ceremony. We've condensed the traditional format to allow us time to
24:19
experience the Southwest Tower. When I call the name of your group, please stand at your table for round of
24:24
applause so we can recognize you for all your support. Some people weren't able to be here today, but their names will
24:30
still be on the screen. We're going to recognize the ones here today. Everyone good? Great. Let's get started. First,
24:38
we'd like to recognize our Chalkwalk sponsors who not only help make the event possible, but make it successful.

27:15
support their community. First, Mickey Walkers.
27:21
[applause] Next, Disney Volunteers.
27:29
[applause] Third, Disneyland Resort Magic Key holders.
27:37
[applause] And fourth, Park Streamers.
27:42
[applause] And now we're shouting out the top
27:48
corporate teams. These teams are made up of employees who join forces to promote a culture of giving. First, school's
27:56
first FCU. [applause]
28:03
and Edward Jones. [applause]
28:10
It's now time to honor our top chalk affiliate teams made up of associates and volunteers who walk to honor their

Next, Chalk BFFs [applause]

Rady's Children. Lynn Stoner [applause]
28:58
and Adam Gold.
29:03
[applause] Finally, we want to recognize our top supporters today. Group PR,
29:14
[applause] Mr. Dax,
29:19

29:44
[applause] Congratulations to our honores. Let's give everybody a final round of
29:51
applause. [applause]
29:58
Being a part of the Chalkwalk has been such a joy and privilege. Thank you to everyone at the Chalk Foundation for
30:05
inviting me to be this year's last year's ambassador. And thank you to everyone who walked, gave, and raised
30:11
funds. Let's crush that record again this year.
30:18
[applause] Well, it's been great being your MC for the day. And now I'd like to hand over
30:24
things to Zach to kick off the tour.
30:29
[applause] Thank you. Thank you.
30:35
How about a round of applause for our 2025 disaster?
30:41
[applause] Thank you all and thank you everyone for being here. This is such a incredible day for all of us. This being my almost
30:48
20th walk. So I'm let's hear [applause and cheering]
30:55
everyone here has such a special meaning and place for all of us. Um I can't thank our speakers more. They really did
31:02
um truly express which every step that you take, every dollar you raise,
31:08
everything that you do, all the work, the love, the sponsorships, the support. Um it's just so meaningful for us to
31:15
have you here where you can see how it's manifested. So, a huge applause to all of you
31:23
and [applause] uh just a little bit of uh tour, guide, direction. We're super excited for you all to see and
31:28
experience the magic of this building. It truly is incredible. I had a chance to just take a small little tour with
31:34
our CEO a couple weeks back and I was blown away. So, um, we've got three
31:40
groups. You probably have a wristband. We have yellow and then we have blue and
31:46
we have red. So, we've got some tour guides for you before we go on our tour. We have a 5m minute break and uh we just
31:52
encourage you all to use the restrooms. We have restrooms right over here and right over here if you need them. But
31:58
then we want you to come back and meet with your tour group. So will the yellow tour group uh Barb and Denise raise your
32:04
hands. So you're yellow, you're all gonna meet back over there. Okay. And then we've got the red tour group over
32:12
there. There's Ally and Winnie. And then blue is going to be Ashley and I.
32:18
Okay. So yeah. And uh one last little thing. So this will actually wrap up our
32:26
experience today. Okay. So, once you finish all your tour, we want you to all come back up here because we're all
32:31
going to exit out through these doors. But actually, when you finish your tour, that's that's a wrap for today. And then
32:36
we're going to start working on 2026 shops in the park. So, thank you all. Have a good rest of
32:44
your day and we'll see you back here soon.
