The Astro Orbitor is an icon in the middle of Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World Resort. It spins fans around as they fly above Tomorrowland. It is a classic attraction that is enjoyed by Disney fans of all ages. In the spring of 2025, the attraction will be closed for multiple months to undergo a refurbishment. The closure will begin on January 13 and continue until sometime in the summer.
The following notice can be found on the Walt Disney World Resort website:
Astro Orbiter will be temporarily closed for refurbishment beginning January 13, 2025, and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025.
If the refurbishment is like what has happened at the Disneyland version of the ride, it is very possible that guests visiting the Magic Kingdom next year could see the attraction dismantled completely and then reassembled throughout the process of the refurbishment. Seeing that this version of the attraction is higher up than the version at Disneyland, this could be very interesting to watch.
Here is the official description for this ride:
Astro Orbiter
Pilot a spaceship high in the sky amid a gleaming constellation of planets.
Lift Off!
Hold on tight as your retro 2-passenger spacecraft levitates high into the air, picks up speed and begins orbiting a galaxy of planets while the sights and sounds of Tomorrowland whirl by far below.
You’re the Captain Now
Control how high you fly by pulling or pushing the lever inside your ship.
