On this day in 2001, the first annual Fiesta Latina weekend kicked off at Disney’s California Adventure during the park’s first year. The celebration of Latin American culture and Hispanic Heritage Month was centralized in the Pacific Wharf district. It included well-known live music headliners, dancers, community performers, specialty food, arts & crafts, and limited-edition pins. As one of the Disneyland Resort’s earliest recurring cultural festivals, the event helped lay the foundation for celebrations like Plaza de la Familia and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! today.
