The Avengers are back in theaters, and fans are showing up. As the weekend begins, Avengers Endgame: Encore took the top spot on Friday’s box office. The film earned $11.2 million domestically as fans came to see additional scenes added to the film. If it continues on its current course, the film should earn around $26 million by the end of the weekend.
Avengers: Endgame Encore is being released in theaters ahead of the arrival of Avengers: Doomsday in December. The original release of Avengers: Endgame, directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, was a pop culture moment. Fans streamed into theaters in 2019 to see the culmination of the Infinity Saga. So many people wanted to see this film on the big screen that it became the second-highest-grossing film in box office history. It earned $2.799 billion. This is just being first place movie Avatar’s $2.9 billion.
As fans and critics have shared about this return to Endgame, details have been slipping out about how the events of this film lead to the events of Doomsday. Once again, it seems to be showing what incredible storytellers the Russo brothers are. If this box office start is any indication, Avengers: Doomsday will be an incredible movie and experience when it arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
