Amy Pascal is one of the new producers behind the James Bond franchise. This comes after Amazon MGM gained creative control of the franchise in 2025. Shortly after, the studio announced that Amy Pascal and David Heyman would be producing the next James Bond film. They take over from longtime franchise runners Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who previously held creative control. The next question that was asked was who would be directing and who would be writing the next film. Denis Villeneuve was soon announced as the director. Shortly after, it was revealed that Steven Knight would be tackling the screenplay. Throughout this process, perhaps the biggest question was who would take on the mantle of 007 himself.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day executive producer Amy Pascal confirmed a timeline for when people would know the answer to this question. In an interview with Deadline, she was asked about the timeline for the reveal of the next James Bond. Specifically, it was asked if she thought this would be known by the end of the year. She answered by saying:

I would say the end of the year is a good bet. We are being really, really methodical. Having worked with Barbara Broccoli at the studio, I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it’s got to be something really different that is a stirring and exciting and different.

While this doesn’t provide many clues as to who might be revealed as the next James Bond. It does provide a timeline. This means in the next four or five months, a new James Bond will be revealed for the franchise. Whoever ends up being announced as James Bond will provide yet another clue for the direction that the franchise will be taking moving forward. For now, only time will tell.

There is a lot of pressure to get this decision correct. Whoever takes on 007 next will be following Daniel Craig. Craig was both popular as James Bond and also held the role longer than any other actor. The new actor will be compared with Craig and his five movies, and also the other actors who portrayed the British superspy. This includes Roger Moore (12 years and 7 Bond films), Sean Connery (7 years and 6 official Bond films), Pierce Brosnan (7 years and 4 Bond films), Timothy Dalton (2 years and 2 Bond films), and George Lazenby (1 year and 1 Bond film). Everyone has a favorite James Bond portrayal. The next James Bond will be up against six decades of fandom and will hopefully be warmly embraced.
