Rick Storey has passed away at the age of 68. The news was shared by Krazy Kirk and The Hillbillies, a band her performed with for many years at Disneyland and then Knott’s Berry Farm. Storey was known as “Whistlin’ Rick” because of his incredible whistling abilities. These were used in multiple performances through the years at Disneyland as a part of Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, at ROCK4CHOC to support CHOC Walk in the Park, Knott’s Berry Farm as part of Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, and beyond. He also would sing, play banjo, and electric guitar frequently during performances.

Throughout his career, Storey’s performances brought happiness to the thousands (if not millions) of people who got the chance to see/hear him whistle, sing, and expertly play his stringed instruments. This is a gift that he gave every time he stepped onto the stage, wherever it was. It was one he continued up until the final years of his life.

On several occasions, Mr. Daps had the opportunity to work with Rick Storey when he played with Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies. He brought kindness and a sense of humor to each of these gigs. He was a joy to work with and fun to chat with. He will be missed.
