New Orleans Square Train Station Radio House Construction

Walls Go Up as New Orleans Train Station Building is Rebuilt at Disneyland

For several years now, there have been walls up near the water tower at the New Orleans Square train station at Disneyland. This came after a fire in late 2022 that ultimately led to the radio house being demolished. Now, work is being done to rebuild the building at the station that, according to a permit that was filed, will be a 357-square-foot break room building that will also have a restroom. The plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems will be upgraded as well. When completed, the building should look nearly identical to its predecessor. When completed, it will be a cast member break room. This was a role it had before the fire.

Friend of Daps Magic, Spencer, was walking by this location on Monday morning and took the following photos of the new building being built. Check out the progress below:

The original building was a part of the full train station setup that was based on the 1948 Disney film So Dear to My Heart. Originally, Walt Disney wanted to use the original movie set, but animator Ward Kimball wanted to keep what had been given to him. A replica was built instead because of this. The train station appears in Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and The American Adventure during the Two Brothers song in both shows. This particular building was the radio house.

What do you think of the progress being made on this radio house? Are you excited to see its return? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
