This last weekend, the 4th of July was celebrated at the Disneyland Resort. This was a special celebration as the United States of America celebrated its 250th anniversary. It was also part of the larger Disney Celebrates America initiative that continued the festivities throughout the company.
One of the highlights of the Independence Day celebrations each year is Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky. This patriotic fireworks show lights up the night with patriotic pyrotechnics, projections, and music. This year, it was presented on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the skies came to life each night with a special version of Fire of the Rising Moons. Because of the scale of this fireworks show and the potential for fallout, the viewing areas were pushed back away from the Millennium Falcon.

Daps Magic made the trek to Batuu to see this version of the patriotic fireworks at the Disneyland Resort. It began, just like the other versions of the show do, with Bard, a modified R1-series astromech droid who also acts as the narrator. Soon, the music of John Williams could be heard filling the land. It started with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite. Other powerful Star Wars themes played throughout the presentation as the patriotic fireworks exploded above. The full experience was incredibly powerful and fantastic. The only downside is that there isn’t as much space to watch this version of the fireworks. It appeared that the limited viewing areas were a consistent thing throughout the weekend. With how close the fireworks looked and felt, this made sense. Below is the full Fire of the Rising Moons as was presented during Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.
The Fire of the Rising Moons is offered at Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge each night that fireworks light up the sky. The music of John Williams accompanies whatever show is happening in the rest of the park to provide a unique Star Wars fireworks viewing experience. It is a fantastic experience and a must-do for Star Wars fans. The 4th of July weekend version was perhaps the best version of this show to date. It really was powerful.
