In just about a week, thousands of people will come together to go on the best walk of the year at the Disneyland Resort. Generally, this walk starts at Disneyland, moves on to Disney California Adventure, and then concludes in the Downtown Disney District. That’s right, I’m talking about the CHOC Walk in the Park! This year, the CHOC Walk will take place on August 2, 2026. Those who walk won’t just be having fun together (there is a LOT of fun to be had); they will also be part of something bigger that makes a difference.

The irony is not lost on me that the CHOC Walk is such a fun event and it raises funds and awareness for one of the least fun experiences in life: having a sick child who is in the hospital. In this case, it is for what was formerly known as Children’s Hospital of Orange County and is now known as Rady Children’s Health Orange County. I personally like to think of it as RCHOC now instead of just CHOC. I don’t know if that will take off or not. What I do know is that RCHOC continues to make a huge difference in families’ lives.

I have been walking in the CHOC Walk for many years (I think nearly two decades now). Through the years, I have been able to meet many families who have had kids receive care at this local children’s hospital. Here are some things I have learned through these conversations and relationships:

• The Care received at RCHOC is Exceptional, and it is Provided Without Cost. Both of these things provide comfort for families going through a terrifying experience of having a sick child in the hospital.
• This is a Caring Hospital. When children and their families are at RCHOC, they don’t just receive medical treatment; they also receive emotional support and love from those who work and volunteer at the hospital. These people don’t just view what they do as work, but as a mission of love.
• This is a Positive Community. The community that surrounds RCHOC is an incredibly supportive one. They show up for each other, build each other up, provide support when needed, and help each other through the good times and the bad.

In the coming days, Daps Magic will be highlighting things we love about the CHOC Walk. This is a very special event that takes a little bit of fundraising and a little bit of walking and turns those efforts into life-changing care. This is a very worthy cause, and I hope that you will join Daps Magic in supporting it. This can be done in several ways:

The world can be made better in a big way by a bunch of little efforts. This can be one of the things mentioned above, or something we haven’t thought of. What we do know is that when we all come together to make a difference, we can help make the world a better place.
