Today is Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle’s last day before retirement. Vahle has led the Walt Disney World Resort for the last six years. This is the culmination of a career that has spanned over three decades at Disney. Before his current roles (he also oversees Worldwide Safety, Health, Engineering and Sourcing for Disney Experiences), Vahle was the leader of Disney Signature Experiences (which includes Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney, National Geographic Expeditions, and more) and Facilities and Operations Services for Disney theme parks worldwide.
Ahead of entering retirement, Vahle took to Instagram to share his thoughts. He posted the following:
On my final day as @WaltDisneyWorld president, I am reflecting on what a journey the past 36 years have been. I have been fortunate to work around the world and help bring new projects and parks to life, from opening Disney’s Animal Kingdom to helping build @ShanghaiDisneyResort, supporting new growth for @DisneyCruiseLine and planning an exciting future for Walt Disney World. It truly has been the best job in the world.
Beyond those milestones, what I will remember most are the people and the memories we created together–the Cast Members, Guests and Central Florida community members who made every day so special. It has been a privilege and an honor to lead Walt Disney World, and I will carry this place and these memories with me always.
He also sent the following note to the local community:
Community friends,
As I begin my retirement, I want to thank you for your support over the years. Walt Disney World and Central Florida go hand in hand, and I feel we have truly been partners in building a strong community.
Having the opportunity to work alongside so many of you as we celebrated accomplishments, marked important milestones and navigated the issues that matter most to our community has been a real privilege. As a lifelong resident of Central Florida, I have seen firsthand the positive difference you make every day. Our future is bright because of you.
You are in great hands with Joe Schott, who will begin leading Walt Disney World next week. Joe was raised right here in Orlando and understands just how special the relationship between our company and the community is.
While I may be retiring, I look forward to continuing to support the community that means so much to me and my family through board service and other opportunities.
Thank you for your partnership and commitment. Together, we have helped make Central Florida an incredible place to call home, and I know the very best is still ahead.
Jeff Vahle – President, Walt Disney World Resort
Upon his retirement, Joe Schott will take over as President of the Walt Disney World Resort. He will start this role on Monday, August 3, 2026. This marks a return to Walt Disney World Resort for Schott, who began his Disney career four decades ago as a Jungle Cruise Skipper. Most recently, Schott served as President of Disney Signature Experiences.
