Disney and Formula 1 have revealed a new custom helmet initiative that will support Make-A-Wish. This is a first-of-its-kind initiative that will help grant life-changing wishes for children living with critical illnesses.
This initiative and collaboration are centered around two custom racing helmets. They were created with Bell Racing and designed by Bret Iwan (the official voice of Mickey Mouse), with creative direction from Bobby Kim (Global Creative Director, Disney Consumer Products).

These beautiful special edition helmets feature the colors of Mickey Mouse, with Mickey Mouse artwork, and Formula 1 branding. There is also a subtle Make-A-Wish star found behind Mickey’s shoe. This creates the effect of a trailing sparkle as he races forward. This is a beautiful combination of magic and meaning found within the designs.
This concept combines Bobby Kim’s background in streetwear and contemporary design with Bret Iwan’s character artistry. It translates Mickey into a racing context with graphic detailing, numbering, and track-inspired striping. Each helmet is also paired with a custom presentation box designed for display, featuring a plexiglass case and certificate of authenticity that is signed by both Iwan and Kim.

During race weekend at Silverstone, the first helmet was signed by Formula 1 drivers, including Make-A-Wish France ambassador Pierre Gasley. It will be auctioned via F1 Authentics, operated under license by Memento Exclusives. The auction sign-up will open on July 7. Bidding will be live from July 11-18. Net proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish International and help grant life-changing wishes for children and their families outside the U.S. when they need it most.
